DeBruyn selected Citizen of Year and Thibault Volunteer of Year at Chamber’s 93rd Annual Meeting
During the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce 93rd Annual Meeting in February, past chair Jim Gordon saluted 2017 Citizen of the Year Bob DeBruyn and 2017 Volunteer of the Year Dean Thibault.
DeBruyn is the 51st recipient of the citizen award. The Master Teacher founder makes further community improvement efforts with The YES Fund! and Master Teacher Institute for the Arts, which funds scholarship for underclass music students to attend Kansas State University’s Summer Chorale Institute. The citizen of the year award is named for former Chamber president Lud Fiser, who served for 27 years. Thibault’s two decades of service to the Manhattan community include the Chamber, Quality Jobs for Manhattan, Rotary Club, Greater Manhattan Community Foundation and Homecare and Hospice campaign drive for new office space. C. Clyde Jones is the namesake for the volunteer of the year award. Jones was the first dean for the College of Business at Kansas State, and has a wide array of favored charities that include Shepherd’s Crossing.
Robert DeBruyn was named the 2017 Lud Fiser Citizen of the Year.
Dean Thibault received the 2017 C. Clyde Jones Volunteer of the Year.
Thanks to all who attended the annual meeting, and we’ll see you in February 2019 for the 94th gathering.
