2012 Schapiro Study - Chamber Membership is Effective Business Strategy

2012 Schapiro Study - A national survey* of 2,000 adults reveals that being active in a local chamber of commerce is an effective business strategy because twothirds of consumers believe that such companies use good business practices, are reputable, care about their customers, and are involved in the community. If a company shows that it is highly involved in its local chamber (e.g., is a chamber board member), consumers are 10% more likely to think that its

products stack up better against its competition.

Small businesses represent the largest segment of most local chamber membership rolls, and the study indicates that chamber membership has consistent and powerful benefits for small business members.

Our 2013 Leadership Manhattan class has reached the halfway point on their journey to graduation. Their most recent session took them to our State Capitol where they met with our Governor, legislators, took in both a House of Delegates and State Senate Session and heard unique perspectives on the political culture in Topeka this year from Martin Hawver and Dick Carter. The Session was a resounding hit with the class

members who were thoughtful and engaging in their interaction with our State leaders. Session IV will take place at Mercy Regional Health Center on March 13th and will include a discussion on our aging community as well as a tour of Tallgrass Brewery.

Graduation is approaching and we will honor our 2013 Leadership Class on April 17 at the Manhattan Country Club.
