Kansas Department of Commerce Names Business Appreciation Month Winners

The Kansas Department of Commerce designates June as Business Appreciation Month, a celebration of Kansas businesses and their contributions to local communities and the state economy. Businesses can be nominated by any individual or organization.

Four Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce member businesses were recognized this year in one of four categories: Manufacturing/ Distribution, Service, Hospital/Non-Profit, and Retail. Regional winners included Environmental

Manufacturing, Inc. in Manufacturing/Distribut ion and New Boston Creative in Service. Merit Award winners included the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation in Hospital/Non-Profit and Little Apple Brewing Company in Retail.

“The businesses honored during Business Appreciation Month have made outstanding contributions to our economy and their communities,” Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George said. “These businesses are investing and hiring in Kansas and as a result our state is enjoying strong job

growth and a vibrant economy.”

2014 Manhattan Street Maps Available Now The Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce has just received the newest street map of Manhattan. The full-color street map is designed to serve those visiting as well as those considering relocation to the area. Local residents will also find the map a useful tool, since points of interest and various business locations will be noted. 10,000 copies of this publica-

tion will be distributed throughout the region. This professional street map is crafted with local input and relevant highlights — such as libraries, schools, governmental buildings and other special points of interest — and features an index of area resources and attractions.
