Kansas Department of Commerce Names Business Appreciation Month Winners The Kansas Department of Commerce designates June as Business Appreciation Month,a celebration of Kansas businesses and their
contributions to local communities and the state economy. Businesses can be nominated by any individual or organization.

Manhattan Regional Airport was recognized as a Regional Winner in Service;Little Apple Puzzles / Accents & Images, Inc. in Manufacturing/Distribution; Big Poppi Bicycle Company in Retail,and Sunflower CASA Project Inc. in the Hospital/Non-Profit category.

Rankings of Best Places for Business and Careers look at the 200 largest metropolitan statistical areas in the U.S. Twelve metrics relating to job growth (past and projected), costs (business and living),
income growth,educational attainment and projected economic growth were considered. Additionally quality of life issues like crime rates, cultural and recreational opportunities and net migration patterns and the number of highly ranked colleges in an area per our annual college rankings were factors.
