It’s time to Get Around 2 It, Flint Hills Day and Kansas Sampler Festival!
It’s officially Spring! Time to Get Around 2 plan your summer activities! Celebrate May Day, May 1st, with the Manhattan Convention & Visitors Bureau, as we host the 6th Annual Get Around 2 It! From 5-8 p.m. at the Blue Earth Plaza. This free event showcases Manhattan’s attractions and upcoming events with vendors, prizes and fun activities.
The Flint Hills Discovery Center celebrates the first weekend in May with their inaugural Flint Hills Day on Saturday, May 3rd. Bring the whole family to enjoy a full day of activities. Lace up your running shoes and join the fun with the “Run for the Hills 5K”. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with the race beginning at 7:30. Are you a geocacher? Join in the fun with geocaching enthusiasts at 10 a.m. Did you know that Manhattan has over 200 caches and nearly 2000 caches are in the region? From noon to 5 p.m. join in on the fun inside the Flint Hills Discovery Center. Flint Hills Day showcases live raptor demonstrations by the Milford Nature Center, entertainment from “The Skirts”, presentations, display and fun interactive children activities by the Kaw Indian Nation all afternoon. The KSU Meat Science Association will grill Buffalo burgers from 4-7 p.m just outside the Flint Hills Discovery Center doors. To bring a great day to a close, join us at 6 p.m., in the Blue Earth Plaza to see
the Kaw Indian Nation perform traditional Kaw Dances. The beauty and pageantry of this dance is a must see!
Saturday and Sunday, May 3-4, Wamego will be hosting the 25th Annual Kansas Sampler Festival. The Kansas Sampler celebrates all things Kansas. Purchase your daily admission at the gate adults $5 Children 7-12 yrs $3. Weekend passes are available for $8/4. Learn from vendors, community promoters, Kansas entertainers and Kansas explorers about great summer get-aways, Kansas history and humor! Now Get Around to marking your calendar as Manhattan and the surrounding area has so much to celebrate.
