Wavy Surface

The natural landscape surrounds and amazes us with its many shapes, textures and colours. This we can take comfort in. This tableware by IDFL takes its specific inspiration from an array of Slovenian landscapes, from the sea and lakes through the forest and up to the mountaintops.

The Wavy Surface tray from the IDFL Tableware series follows those shapes and textures – the lake surface when the wind blows, the white-capped mountains reflected in the water. Here ceramic cups stand on the tray like mountains above the lake.

Basic materials like wood and clay are closely connected with, and actually taken from the landscape: larch, ash, oak or maple wood from the Slovenian forest, treated with natural oils, and clay from the good earth below. The good earth provides.

The tray is naturally versatile, and can be used for any number of applications in as many settings: a personal storage area for jewellery, a phone, a watch; as a breakfast dish for fruit, bread, or for snacks like nuts or chips. Or press it into action on the desktop for small home/office supplies like pencils, scissors, paper clips ...

Any way you stack it it comes up ripe for use and reuse, for sharing shaking things up just a little – if things aren’t already sufficiently shaken up.
