Rocking Light
From the most basic of forms to the more sophisticated, many if not all are eventually united under the same principle — the fold. For the fold represents the simplest and simultaneously most universal technique employed in the processing of steel. Which is both promising and essential, as simple, basic and universal come to assume increasingly important roles – particularly in a world that will look increasingly to correspondingly simple solutions.
Folds serves to describe the look of Folds pieces as well as the technique by which they are fashioned. This basic process transforms a two-dimensional steel plate which, through cutting and folding (both time and energy-efficient operations) acquires volume.
The Rocking Light literally sets to rocking with just a touch for an effect that is both dynamic and – for the more reflective – personal, poetic even. Even the mere form/shape suggests, invites playful interaction, which might here and elsewhere see us a little more engaged with the things we choose to surround ourselves with in the future.
Made from hot rolled sheet aluminium it’s both lightweight and durable. It’s available in a range of sizes – R400 mm, R600 mm, R800 mm, and R1000 mm – and a wide range of colours. And it comes equipped with a sophisticated built-in energy-efficient LED strip that boasts a lifetime of more than 36000 hours.
