Oli is a children’s tent, but it’s also much more than just a tent. Because Oli takes the shape of and actually looks like a playful whale. It’s a fun and cosy place for kids to hide and play in. They can even write or draw on the interior walls, which are made from a special material that can easily be wiped clean with a damp cloth.

Just as compelling is the fact that kids can put the tent up all by themselves, so they learn as they play. And the frame can be easily removed, which sees the tent transformed from a tent into a cosy blanket or comfortable sleeping bag. So there’s no shortage of places to hide, play, rest, enjoy. Even the whale’s fins can be used as storage space for toys and other playthings. We all need some place we can retreat to, a place we can call our own, feel safe in and be ourselves. If we can share that place all the better, especially if it’s flexible enough to fill a number of roles without getting too complicated or involved. And while it’s not going to keep all the nasties away, it will keep them at a safe, friendly and comfortable distance. And as designer Veronika Rožmanc says, Oli isn’t just a tent, Oli’s a member of the family.
