ylvia Camarda presents a solo performance combining dance and theatre. Her journey thus far has been at once international – she has worked with troupes as diverse as the Cirque du Soleil and the Ballet C de la B, as well as with artists such as Jan Fabre – and local producing her own work in Luxembourg for several years now. She was awarded the “Danz Praïz” in 2011, an honour bestowed by the Ministry of Culture on young dancers and choreographers. A great fan of radical or even, some would say, extreme forms of contemporary choreographic creation, Sylvia Camarda’s aesthetic draws on a broad range of references which are as much cinematic and literary as they are choreographic. The warrior of beauty is a work which combines the evocative power of remarkable feminine personalities with personal experience. As a means of addressing the diverse facets of femininity in all its elusive plurality, the evocation of some of the dark and painful sides of life (anorexia, alcoholism, drug addiction) here works to counterpoint the carefully sculpted image of the women we see in the public eye. Beyond its attempts to grasp the true nature of femininity in the 21st century, The warrior of beauty can also be read as a quest for identity and personality. As a woman, a dancer, and a choreographer, how can I find an original choreographic style, how can I express this style, and what is it to be one’s self, both in public and in private? All of these fundamental questions give the piece a personal dimension that the artist seems ready to share with the public. This is without any doubt Sylvia Camarda’s most touching work yet. Q
fasciné par shakespeare, Verdi attendra d’avoir 66 ans pour se confronter à othello. sur un livret d’arrigo boito qui intensifie l’aspect dramatiquement humain de l’œuvre initiale, l’opéra atteint des sommets d’émotions. le Grand théâtre accueille cette production d’une ampleur technique et artistique rare. le rôle principal est tenu par José cura – interprète phénoménal qui a de nombreuses fois joué ce rôle bouleversant –, sous la direction d’andreas kriegenburg pour qui otello résonne dans le monde actuel : un monde ravagé par la guerre dans lequel les êtres révèlent le versant dramatique de leurs âmes. seine begeisterung für shakespeare wagte verdi erst im alter von 66 Jahren mit othello zum ausdruck zu bringen. nach einem libretto von arrigo boito, das die intensität des menschlichen dramas des ursprünglichen stücks verstärkt, erreicht die oper den emotionalen höhepunkt. das Große theater ist der aufführungsort dieser vorführung, die sich durch einen selten gesehenen technischen und künstlerischen aufwand auszeichnet. die hauptrolle spielt José Cura, ein sagenhafter Künstler, der diese ergreifende rolle schon sehr oft verkörpert hat, und die leitung des Werks übernimmt andreas Kriegenburg, für den otello in der heutigen Welt überall erschallt: eine von Kriegen heimgesuchte Welt, in der die Wesen die dramatische seite ihrer seelen offenbaren. opéra E 21, 23 & 25/05 H20:00 S en italien, surtitres en français et allemand I Grand théâtre J www.theatres.lu

Le Trois du trois
le centre chorégraphique de luxembourg accueille une pièce de la compagnie totum, dirigée par mariJo chatton, le regard des autres : une chorégraphie sans complaisance sur la mutation des rapports humains à l’heure des technologies actuelles. le photographe, Dominique romanelli, passionné par le patrimoine des friches industrielles mais aussi par la danse, présente une série d’images de spectacles dansés prises au fil des années. la bulle est un projet de la danseuse sarah Picard, réalisé avec ses élèves, qui entraîne le public vers le monde fragile et sensible de la poésie et symbolique de la bulle. the luxembourg Centre for Choreography welcomes a work performed by the totum company and directed by mariJo Chatton. le regard des autres is an uncompromising choreography addressing the transformation of human relations in the context of modern technological advances. Photographer dominique romanelli, passionate about both the future of industrial wastelands and dance, will present a series of images of dance performances, taken over the course of several years. la bulle is a project created by dancer sarah Picard and her students which brings the audience into contact with the fragile and sensitive world of the symbolism and poetry of the bubble. créations interdisciplinaires
