German veteran band BAP (photo) headlines the annual free festival put on by the Luxembourg City Tourist Office on the biggest square in the city centre. BAP, from Cologne, was formed in 1976 and still features iconic frontman Wolfgang Niedecken who writes and sings in the Kölsch dialect. The band has released over 20 albums and has enjoyed 10 no.1 long-players in the German charts. But the festival is also a showcase for local talent and some 19 Luxembourg acts are featured in the line-up. Le groupe allemand BAP (photo) n’a rien perdu de sa verdeur et sera en vedette du festival annuel gratuit organisé par le Luxembourg City Tourist Office sur la plus grande place du centre-ville. Formé à Cologne en 1976, BAP a toujours pour leader le charismatique Wolfgang Niedecken qui écrit et chante en dialecte local, le « kölsch ». Le groupe a plus de 20 albums à son actif, dont 10 ont atteint le sommet des hit-parades allemands. Mais le festival constitue également un tremplin pour les talents locaux, avec 19 groupes et artistes luxembourgeois à l’affiche.

The CCRN Abbaye de Neumünster and den Atelier team up each summer to present a series of concerts in the wonderful setting of the Abbaye courtyard. This year’s line-up includes a concert by singer-songwriter Elvis Costello (photo) and The Imposters, a return to Luxembourg for French artist Woodkid, a performance by 4AD label veterans Dead Can Dance and a duo show by pianist Michel Camilo and the flamenco guitarist Tomatito. Chaque été, le CCRN Abbaye de Neumünster et l’Atelier présentent conjointement une série de concerts dans le magnifique cadre de la cour de l’Abbaye. À l’affiche cette année : un concert de l’auteur-compositeur-interprète Elvis Costello (photo) avec The Imposters, le retour au Luxembourg de l’artiste français Woodkid, une prestation des Dead Can Dance, vétérans du label 4AD, et un duo réunissant le pianiste Michel Camilo et le guitariste de flamenco Tomatito.
The veteran Canadian last year released his 35th album, the acclaimed Psychedelic Pill, and plays his first show in Luxembourg since 1987. When with Crazy Horse, Young is truly a force to be reckoned with and some critics have hailed his latest work as among his best – it is certainly his longest and features trademark harmonies, fuzz-laden guitar solos and socially critical lyrics. The show could be a classic nostalgia trip with a modern twist. L’année dernière, le grand artiste canadien a sorti un 35e opus très applaudi, Psychedelic Pill. Il revient au Luxembourg pour la première fois depuis 1987. La synergie entre Crazy Horse et Neil Young est extraordinaire et certains critiques n’hésitent pas à considérer ce dernier album – certainement le plus long à ce jour – comme le meilleur. On y retrouve les harmonies caractéristiques, les solos de guitare à effets de distorsion et les textes engagés. Une soirée nostalgie teintée de modernité.
