Ibrar Wins Local Backing!

Burngreave Councillor Ibrar Hussain has been re-selected to stand for Labour at the 2011 Local Elections. Councillor Hussain enjoyed the full backing of his local party who praised his work in

Burngreave and commitment to the local community. Councillor Hussain has represented Burngreave since 2000 where he has built a reputation as a dedicated hard worker, standing up for the interests of the area. Labour Burngreave Councillor, Ibrar Hussain, said: “I would like to thank all members for supporting me to be re-selected as the Labour candidate. “It is a great honour and privilege to serve as Councillor for Burngreave and I will continue to give my all in working hard for the local community if I am re-elected in May.”

Labour Wins The Manor Castle By-Election Labour has won the Manor Castle by-election held today. Terry Fox has been elected as the new Councillor for Manor Castle ward after Labour received over 75% of votes cast. The Liberal Democrats received 11% of the vote, down from 25.6% in May 2010. There was a 17.5% swing from the Lib Dems to Labour and the result now leaves the Lib Dems with a majority of just one seat on Sheffield City Council.
