hello! my name is Marta Hervás Oroza and I am a fifth year architecture student from ETSAM - UPM.
Madrid based architecture student with freelance and volunteering experience in design and construction projects. Greatly interested in pursuing a career in graphic design. My interests include photography, music and traveling. Always striving to learn and get better at what i do, as well as producing work I’m proud of.
I am a perfectionist and detail oriented designer with a great interest for temporary interventions and ephemeral architecture such as scenographies, as well as a passion for creating highly attractive graphics and images. WOMEN IN HISTORY Women in History is a visibility campaign for Madrid’s city council, that aims to showcase the crucial contributions of previously unnoticed women, out on the streets. Scientists, architects, writers, artists... women from across all fields, and their work, are presented to the general public in posters and banners with a short description of their contributions. The design consists of a set of two twin posters for a lamppost banner, one presenting an example of a woman and her important work (Margaret Schutte-Lihotzky, architect and designer of the Frankfurt kitchen, the precursor of modern kitchens), and the other one with the name and slogan of the campaign.

MONUMENTS OF LATE CAPITALISM Monuments of Late Capitalism is a collection of three speculative comedic posters, based on the premise of the “capitalization of monuments”: the concept that a monument doesn’t belong to the people anymore, but to a corporation that profits off it. In these three posters, three monuments are altered to advertise products or lifestyles according to the brands that “sponsor” them: Martini, Heinz and Louis Vuitton. The idea stems from a real life campaign that took place in Madrid in the year 2013, in which the communications company Vodafone bought the rights to the metro line 2 and centric metro station Sol, changing their names to line Vodafone 2 and station Vodafone Sol, respectively. After three years of opposition and vandalism from the metro users, the signs were removed in 2016.

MAGFEST Magfest is a music festival proposal with an independent and alternative character. Its retro and analogue character appear as a counterpart to a fast-paced and digital music scene. With an arrangement of bands ranging across different styles, from pop to electronic and rock, it aims to gather a variety of demographics in its public. The proposal consists of a poster to advertise the festival, from which the identity collage image can be taken to produce merchandise that could be sold at the event (such as the presented totebag). For the poster, a retro style is used, combining very strong visual elements and a colorful palette with a clean layout for readability. The design speaks of the character of the festival itself: playful, elegant and analogue.

TYPOGRAPHY STUDIES A set of three ‘postcards’ studying the main elements that define the character of three fonts, and creating compositions that highlight said character.

SPOTIFY PLAYLIST REBRAND The project consists of a complete rebrand of all the Spotify playlist covers with a common identity while retaining the character of each individual one. A set of 20 covers is produced, with a distinctive font that gives the design character, and a combination of two colours for every playlist, based off the atmosphere or mood of the songs in it.

ARCHITECTURE DRAWINGS An array of drawings for three projects, using various techniques and styles to communicate the intention and character of said projects. In this page, an sectional exploded axonometric shows an intervention in the GPO, Dublin, explaining the three main elements of the proposal and the relationship of the new added bridges to the current distribution, circulation and ground levels. On the following page, a general plan of a hostel in the Erg Chebbi desert, Morocco. The plan combines ground and first floor, detailing the ciculation and the relationship with the two courtyards, along with the distribution of rooms inside the building (highlighting the public vs private character of the project). Finally, the last two panels present a proposal for a nomadic waste collection boat, a design that develops and grows along the trip, being built with the plastic waste it recycles on its journey. The project intends to show a lightweight and temporary character, as well as retaining the materiality of the recycled plastic.

COLLAGES AND VISUALIZATIONS A selection of images that illustrate various architecture projects, made exclusively using digital collage techniques on Photoshop (no rendering software). On this page, the photomontages show a transition space at the gates of the medina of Fez, a game of transparencies and layers that slowly unveil the gate. Next, two scenes in the renovated couryard of the GPO in Dublin, transformed into a space for the people, show different uses that can coexist within the heart of the building. Finally, an alternative reality in which the entirety of the monument is removed; the idea of space and mass in oposition.
