THANK A FARMER ISAAC EVANS PURSUES AGRICULTURE DREAM

At MCC, our commitment has always been to provide an education that goes beyond classroom walls. That holds especially true for our agriculture program, where students receive training in a variety of fields needed for entry-level jobs in the industry. Students explore hydroponics, agricultural sustainability, current technology, and agricultural business management. With this valuable hands-on experience, they are well-prepared to embark on professional careers or continue their academic pursuits in the field.

One of our proud alumni, Isaac Evans, stands as a testament to MCC’s commitment to excellence in education. Graduating in 2018 with an associate in applied science and a certificate in Agronomy, Isaac recalls his time at MCC as instrumental in laying down the foundation of his agricultural knowledge. This aided in his transition to Murray State, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy.

During his time in the program, Isaac says that he learned the value of determination. “The most important lesson I learned was that hard work pays off,” he shared. Despite facing challenging assignments, his efforts were always recognized, and his instructor was quick to offer guidance. Isaac acknowledges the support he received from Agriculture Program Coordinator, April Duncan, saying that she “took the time to make sure I would get back on track and get a firm grasp of the topic.”

Today, Isaac makes an impact in the agricultural industry as a Sales Agronomist for DLF Pickseed. His role involves a variety of responsibilities, from consulting to growing and selling seeds – be it row crops, cover crops, pastures, or turf. Isaac’s journey from MCC to a successful career in agriculture is a testament to the quality education and support provided by the college. Our commitment to hands-on learning and dedicated faculty ensures that students like Isaac are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in their desired career fields.
