NEW LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCED FOR FACULTY AND STAFF

Mary Werner Named Dean of Academic Affairs

Madisonville Community College has announced that Dr. Mary Werner will be the college’s next dean of academic affairs. In this role, she will oversee the delivery of the college’s academic programs and assist with matters related to accreditation, oversight, and faculty development.

“I am honored to be selected as dean. This is an exciting time for the college, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure that our students have the best possible educational experience,” said Werner. Werner has been a member of the college’s English faculty since 1996. In addition to her full-time experience in the classroom, she was the department chair for the humanities and provided leadership to several grant projects and accreditation initiatives. Werner also served on the college’s Board of Directors as the faculty representative, received the President’s Award for Inclusive Excellence, and was the recipient of the college’s New Horizons Faculty Award of Excellence.

Werner earned a Bachelor of Science in English from Illinois State University, a Master of Arts from Illinois State University in writing, and a Ph.D. in English from Northern Illinois University.

Wendy Clayton Joins Board of Directors

MCC proudly welcomes Wendy Clayton as our latest addition to the Board of Directors, serving as the Faculty Representative. A proud MCC nursing program alumna, Wendy has demonstrated unwavering dedication to both education and healthcare throughout her career. After 28 years as a registered nurse, she began her educational journey in 2000 at Webster Co. Area Technology Center’s Health Science Program. She later transitioned to teach at MCC in the LPN program in 2003 and now imparts her knowledge in the integrated nursing program. We are honored to have her on board. Join us in welcoming her!

Workforce Solutions Welcomes Melanie Tapp

We are pleased to welcome Melanie as the assistant director of Workforce Solutions. Previously, Melanie worked as the director of workforce development for Madisonville Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation. She graduated from Murray State University with a Bachelor of Integrated Studies. Melanie serves on the Hopkins County Young Professionals Board of Directors and on the Hopkins County Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. This year she was named one of the 30 under 40 Successful People in Western Kentucky by the Western Kentucky Business Journal.
