FACULTY SPOTLIGHT

Judy Mitchell - Professor of Nursing, KNAT Coordinator

1. Where are you from originally and where did you attend college? I am a deep-rooted Kentucky girl, born and raised in Belton, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. I attended Madisonville Community College (ADN), Murray State University (BSN), and Western Kentucky University (MSN).

2. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A writer or flight attendant, which is consistent, because both topics still spark my interest to this day. Interestingly though, I listed my future career as nursing in my high school memoirs.

3. Who has been a major influence in your life? Aside from the awesome parents and family I have been blessed with, personally this question requires a “what” instead of a “who” answer: My Christianity

4. What hobbies do you pursue? Traveling, writing, allthings American history, designing and decorating, thrifting, hiking, fishing, growing vegetables/ farm-to-table, holistic wellness, and activities with my family and Shih Tzu doggy, Jasper.

5. If you were stranded on a deserted island, what one band or musician would help keep your sanity? All I need are ‘80s Pop/Rock Hits.

6. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be? Seafood, sushi, or a combination of both. For dessert, I’ll have Leopold’s Ice Cream from Savannah please.

7. If you could have dinner with one person, living or dead, who would it be? Patrick Swayze. If you REALLY know me, then you already knew that. Simply put, I love him forever.

8. What do you love about Madisonville Community College? I am proud to support my community, state, and profession by teaching for a local institution that provides high-quality nursing and nursing assistant training. I love that MCC allows me the flexibility and creative outlet to pursue my highest professional potential.
