LOUISVILLE ORCHESTRA AT THE GLEMA MAHR CENTER FOR THE ARTS
The Glema Mahr Center for the Arts hosted the Louisville Orchestra, joined by mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile, for their Hopkins County stop along the “In Harmony Tour” on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.
“This statewide tour is quite the undertaking, but so vital for Louisville Orchestra’s well-being,” explained Glema Center Director Brad Downall. “Orchestras throughout the country are struggling to attract younger audiences. Teddy Abrams and the rest of LO’s leadership have tackled this challenge head-on with commissioned works that fall outside the traditional definition of ‘classical’ works.”

Dr. Sara Adams, Professor of Music at Madisonville Community College, performed with the Louisville Orchestra as a featured vocal soloist in “Home,” a piece which combines symphonic and traditional bluegrass styles of music.
Prior to this event, Dr. Adams performed with the orchestra at concerts in Murray and Louisville. “Singing with the Louisville Orchestra has fulfilled a personal dream of mine, and this experience has been sweetened by the new friendships made on this tour and the exuberant audiences enjoying this world-class program,” Dr. Adams said.
