ALEX HORNE: LIES WED 15 JAN 8PM £12 The 30 year old multi-BAFTA award-winning stand up and platinum-selling R&B artist Alex Horne is back with an hour of observations, impressions and lies. Best known for mindblowing Powerpoint or live music, this show has neither; just Alex, a panda, some jokes and some lies. Although one of those may also be a lie. Or a joke. Either way, it'll be funny. Honest. Alex's numerous TV appearances include We Need Answers, The Matt Lucas Awards, Dara O'Briain's School of Hard Sums, Celebrity Mastermind, Dave’s One Night Stand and The Games That Time Forgot, a documentary written and presented by Alex for BBC Four.

Mrs Peery sees it all from behind her net curtains, she never crosses her own door step but she's plenty to say about the state of her neighbours. What would she do if the big bad world got in through her nets?! A thought-provoking slice of life focussing on three female neighbours.

£16 / £14 (CONC) It’s apocalypse now as the three cultural guerrillas of The Reduced Shakespeare Company set their reductive sights on the good book with The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged). Yes, it’s an affectionate, irreverent roller coaster ride from fig leaves to Final Judgment as the bad boys of abridgement tackle the great theological questions: Did Adam and Eve have navels? Did Moses really look like Charlton Heston? And why isn’t the word “phonetic” spelt the way it sounds? Whether you are Catholic or Protestant, Muslim or Jew, Atheist or Jedi you will be tickled by the RSC’s romp through old time religion.

Though she lived a pampered life, Hedda's time as a single girl ran out and she married academic George Tesman, a man she clearly no longer loves - if, indeed, she ever did. Now Hedda is driven to diabolical ends trying to discover purpose in her life as she increasingly finds the world closing in on her. Following their sell-out productions of Romeo and Juliet and Othello, Icarus brings you one of theatre’s earliest challenges to modern patriarchy.

No seat is safe, no telephone pole too high, no door to close, no alley too narrow - not for these acrobatic dancers, who use urban dance, hip hop and parkour to weave their path. Using the magical, surrealistic stories of Haruki Murakami as a source of inspiration, Kaiel creates an intensely physical and absurd performance trail. “There’s a monster in the garden and it’s going to eat me,” said Bernard. Bernard’s got a problem. He’s found a monster in the back garden and his mum and dad are just too busy to notice. So Bernard tried to befriend the monster... and that doesn’t go quite to plan. Loved by children, adults and monsters for over thirty years, David McKee’s iconic picture-book will be vividly brought to life on the macrobert stage by Ellen McDougall, director of the Unicorn Theatre’s recent and much-loved production of Henry the Fifth. page 16

What, really, are the odds they might win? Have you got one? Do you want one? What would you do with all that money? These questions and several others, utterly unrelated, will be answered. Or will they? Who knows? Question marks are free, shall we keep using them? Will Boothby win during the show? More importantly, will he share any of his winnings with you? T I C K E T S

Rapture Theatre (The Sash) present John Byrne’s (Tutti Frutti; The Slab Boys) raucously funny adaptation of Chekov’s classic Uncle Vanya, relocated to 1960’s rural Scotland. Sandy Sheridan: pretentious art critic and selfproclaimed cultural icon returns from a rock and roll life in swinging London to his Scottish country pile with his new, much younger wife in tow. Waiting for him are his stoical daughter Shona and his acerbic ex-brother in law Uncle Varick. Add in the handsome local Doctor, the not so handsome local neighbour and you have a play full of comedy, pathos, and some very dodgy chainsaws. Scottish theatre legend Jimmy Chisholm (Para Handy; High Road) leads a cast of great performers in this hilarious night out, featuring a sensational sixties soundtrack, arranged and performed by Dave “Wildcat” Anderson.
