Seize ans c’est presque la maturité. C’est beaucoup d’expérience certes dans l’exercice que nous faisons depuis l’an 2000 : donner de la visibilité à nos créateurs qui souvent n’ont pas d’occasions de le faire ailleurs ou s’ils le peuvent n’y arrivent que difficilement à des coûts que la majorité d’entre eux ne peuvent absorber. Mtl en Arts est une formule unique avec d’heureuses répercussions pour nos artisans. Bon festival à tous. Sixteen years in the making and we’re almost at adulthood in helping our generations of young creators, and not so young, to show and sell their works, results of a long and sometimes winding road to achievement when not pure success. Mtl en Arts has helped hundreds of them in making them known to a larger public. We will continue! Have a nice art fest!

Depuis 16 ans, Mtl en Arts nous fait découvrir des artistes de talent, dans une atmosphère festive propre à Montréal. En plus de participer à la vie culturelle de notre métropole, ce festival contribue à l’essor économique et à la vitalité de l’est du centre-ville. EXPOSANTS / EXHIBITORS Le festival Mtl en Arts s’étale sur la rue Sainte-Catherine Est qui devient piétonne pour la période estivale de la rue St-Hubert à Papineau. Ce sont 120 artistes professionnels et émergents qui participent à cet événement. Il permet de créer une interaction entre les participants et le public sans intermédiaire. Ces artistes exercent dans des disciplines variées comme la peinture, la sculpture, la joaillerie, le textile, la photographie. Exposition en deux temps (rotation d’artistes) : EXPO 1 / Mercredi 1er juillet et jeudi 2 juillet EXPO 2 / Vendredi 3, samedi 4 et dimanche 5 juillet Mtl en Arts takes place on Sainte-Catherine Street East. The street becomes pedestrian for the summer from St Hubert to Papineau. There are 120 professional and emerging artists who participate in the creation of this event, which allows interaction between participants and the public without intermediaries. Those artists, perform in various disciplines such as painting, sculpture, jewelry, textiles, photography. Exhibition in two segments: EXPO 1 / Wednesday 1st & Thursday 2nd of July EXPO 2 / Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th of July

Cette année, le festival accueille trois personnalités publiques : Michel Tremblay, Monique Saintonge et Winston McQuade. Les trois artistes exposeront le long de la rue Sainte-Catherine. Le public aura la possibilité d’aller à leur rencontre, décou-

Le festival propose plusieurs activités en parallèle de l’expo-vente qui se déroule sur la rue. Fort de ses expériences passées, le festival compte sur ces projets pour dynamiser la rue ! La plupart sont des projets participatifs : le public peut contribuer à l’élaboration d’une œuvre ou bien encore participer à une performance.

Le festival accueille trois personnalités publiques, Michel Tremblay, Monique Saintonge et Winston Mc Quade. Les trois artistes exposeront le long de la rue Sainte-Catherine. Le public aura la possibilité d’aller à leur rencontre, découvrir et se procurer une de leurs œuvres. The festival hosts three public figures: Michel Tremblay Monique Saintonge and Winston Mc Quade. The three artists will exhibit along St. Catherine Street. The public will have the opportunity to meet them, discover and buy one of their works.
MICHEL TREMBLAY
Michel Tremblay est un auteur de théâtre, de romans et d’adaptations. Son univers est peuplé de femmes, tantôt caractérielles et imparfaites, tantôt fragiles et attachantes, qu’il peint avec réalisme et humour / Michel Tremblay is writer of plays, novels and adaptations. His universe is full of women, sometimes temperamental and imperfect, sometimes fragile and endearing. He paints with realism and humor.
WINSTON MC QUADE
Winston McQuade est un ancien animateur de Radio-Canada qui a retrouvé un statut d’artiste professionnel en arts visuels. Il a surtout exploré le paysage topographique de Montréal ou il y transfère l’étrange beauté du mobilier urbain / Winston McQuade is a retired speaker from Radio-Canada. He’s now a professional artist in visual arts. He especially explored the topographic landscape of Montreal, where he transfers the strange beauty of urban furniture.
MONIQUE SAINTONGE
Monique Saintonge, chanteuse des années 90 a été chroniqueuse de l’émission « De bonne humeur » et également auteur du téléroman « épopée rock ». Elle cultive en parallèle depuis son enfance une passion pour la peinture. / Monique Saintonge, singer of the 90s was the radio host of the program «De bonne humeur» and also author of the soap opera « épopée rock». LA GALERIE RÉSERVÉE AUX ENFANTS ! Spécialement imaginée pour les moins de 13 ans, « Ma première galerie d’art Québecor » revient cette année pour sa 4e édition. Avec des œuvres d’artistes reconnus, elle a pour but d’initier les jeunes visiteurs à collectionner de l’art, à juger de la qualité des œuvres sans être influencés par leurs parents. Les enfants pourront s’offrir une première œuvre originale pour la somme symbolique de $10. «My first art gallery Quebecor» returns this year for its 4th edition. Conceived for children under 13 years old; this selection of artwork from several recognized artists aims to introduce young visitors to collect and to judge the quality of artworks without being influenced by their parents. Children may be able to purchase a first original artwork for the token price of $ 10.

ATELIERS POUR LES ENFANTS « Ma première exposition » est une invitation pour les enfants de 7 à 12 ans à venir créer une œuvre, sous les conseils d’artistes professionnels. Une fois l’atelier terminé, les travaux seront pris en photo et diffusés sur internet afin de créer une exposition web pour ces artistes en herbe. L’enfant pourra partir avec son tableau et les parents pourront fièrement partager l’œuvre de leur(s) enfant(s) sur les réseaux sociaux. Vingt ateliers de deux heures auront lieu durant les cinq jours du festival. Programme, infos et réservation sur notre site web. «My first exhibition» is an invitation for children (aged from 7 to 12) to create an artwork under the guidance of professional artists. After the workshop, pieces will be photographed to create a web exhibition for these aspiring artists. Every child will keep his work, and parents can proudly share it on social networks! COMPÉTITION / IMPROVISATION PICTURALE Plus de 30 artistes de calibre prendront part à cette compétition et une soixantaine de tableaux seront réalisés. Lors des deux derniers jours du festival, Mtl en Arts sera le théâtre de la sélection pour la finale de Art Battle. Au cours des matchs les peintres doivent créer des oeuvres en un temps limité sur un thème libre. Ce sont les spectateurs qui déterminent par vote les improvisations gagnantes. Les finalistes d’Art Battle joueront ensuite une joute amicale contre les finalistes de la ligue du VIP «Le Virus d’improvisation Picturale de Mtl» sur des thèmes imposés par un maître de cérémonie! Un encan clôture chaque joute afin que le public puisse se procurer les toiles originales créées pendant la compétition. More than 30 renowned artists will take part in this competition and sixty paintings will be realized. During the last two days of the festival, Mtl en Arts will host the selection for the Art Battle finale. During the games painters will have to create in a short time. Spectators determine the winner’s improvisations by voting. At the end, the finalists from Art Battle will play against the finalists of the V.I.P. league. For the grand Finale themes are imposed, chosen by the master of ceremonies. An auction close each game so that the public can purchase original paintings created during the competition.
