This hand-crafted leather pendant is inspired by the tropical foliage found in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The artist has created classic, leaf-like shapes into elegant, sculptural pieces by embossing leather into a perforated form using a traditional press. Each ‘leaf’ is crafted from quality, locally-sourced, vegetable-tanned leather, providing for both a beautiful and ethical chandelier for your home.
This stunning ceramic Chandelier is crafted with intricate detail by using thousands of recycled ceramic leaves, spiraling around a sturdy steel frame to create a blend of beauty. This lighting fixture is a daring fusion of craftsmanship and eco-friendly design that enchants all who come near it, especially if they hear its soft chime with the lightest touch.
Over centuries, glass beads have been crafted in Africa using a technique passed down through generations. The process begins with compressing glass into a dry grain, which is then heated to fuse the pieces together. The recycled glass is poured into a porcelain mold, and the stem of a cassava leaf is used to create holes in the beads. The beads are placed in a furnace, where the glass melts and the cassava stem burns away, leaving behind the unique, grainy ‘sand glass’ bead.

What do you believe is the most exciting movement in art right now, whether that’s thematic, stylistic, or cultural?
The art world has traditionally segmented itself into regional categories such as British, New York, Latin American, or Asian art. Some galleries focus on brands that highlight artists from specific countries like India, China, Korea, etc., and auction houses still utilize regional categories to target particular audiences. Given our gallery locations in London and New York, with additional offices in Miami and New York and plans for further expansion in 2025, and partnerships in Central America, Korea, and Japan, we are privileged to witness a new era of global art.
We work with a number of international artists who have traveled extensively and have been influenced by a fusion of cultures, practices, and histories. Our artist Xinyan Zhang, for instance, grew up in Shenzhen, studied throughout Europe, and currently resides in Berlin. Osvaldo Mariscotti is originally from Italy but now lives between the US and UK. Vlad Zorin is another new artist we work with; he fled from Russia and now resides in Paris. This diversity gives rise to a new genre of art that transcends borders, moving beyond the traditional divide of Eastern and Western art to a new generation of internationally infused contemporary art.
As we continue to grow, we have this wonderful opportunity to connect collectors with artists who share a unique blend of influences, creating a dynamic art that transcends regional borders and genres. I truly enjoy being part of that community.

The demand for exceptional abstract art, particularly from color-field artists, continues to soar and I believe this trend will persist. While interest may fluctuate over time depending on access to notable works, the demand for artists like Sam Francis, Helen Frankenthaler, Willem de Kooning, Joan Mitchell, and Robert Motherwell will continue to remain constant. Those artists are what we now consider the “masters”, and second, and I find the first, second, and third-generation artists from this movement to be particularly exciting. Their works are inherently dynamic, and discerning collectors will always appreciate the significant contributions these artists have made to the field of abstraction.
Beyond that, I look to work with established artists who reinterpret the fundamentals of abstraction and advance the theories and techniques of earlier generations in innovative ways. Notable figures like Osvaldo Mariscotti, Francine Tint, and Bernd Zimmer have extensive exhibition histories across various regions, and my goal is to reintroduce their works to our growing international clientele.

Park Seo-Bo’s works are about the process and discipline of mastering the physicality of paint on a surface. He founded the Dansaekhwa movement, which was a commitment to the foundational elements of painting on the two-dimensional plane. This is a print! But even in his print he has meticulously commanded the pigment and paper in a voluminous manner with his traditional repetition of lines. The color palette Is excellent, and the selected negative space, which acts like a door, is inviting and intriguing. Park Seo-Bo is a terrific master and one I’m excited to showcase further.
Osvaldo Mariscotti is like a composer painting color and form. He paints an expressive world that draws on sources as diverse as nature, classical music, and the early pioneers of abstraction. “Firenze” employs Mariscotti’s use of a grid-like base structure with a monochromatic metallic paint. I love the subtly blended brushstrokes that shine and flicker around the rectangles in this piece. The colors inside each become a metaphor for cycles of nature and the passage of time. He tends to use a limited pallet of eight to ten hues, and here, he arranges and rearranges them in rhythmic patterns with deliberate intent. As I often say, these variations are sometimes solemn, occasionally serene, oftentimes playful, and always generously expressive.

The ambiguity of form and movement of the figure is delightful here. De Kooning loves to fuse figure drawing with his fascination with the ancient fertility goddesses. His loose interpretation of the female form suggests a continual evolution of his concept of woman and it’s great to share these two drawings that remain in such excellent condition.
Alice Baber’s works are some of my favorites, and “The Wings of the Cloud Dance Sacred Space Series” feels especially celebratory of life. The stained “clouds” do seem to dance in a circle together as if chanting ceremonially, and it gives an ethereal feeling that I love.

This is a great work that represents her signature staining to create a luminous effect. This painting is quite subtle with delicate cloud-like shapes and soft colors, but powerful in size and composition. I can see the traditional impact of the Midwest, experiences in Paris, and challenging influences from New York in her unique style. She was one of the first to practice this method of painting.

Helen Frankenthaler is another masterful artist who pushed the boundaries of traditional painting. She also practices this staining method, and I particularly love the rebelliousness of the pigment directly from the tube and the little cigarette burn on the side. This is the type of defiance to the outdated “rules” of painting that made artists from this era incredible!
Lately, I’ve been excited to introduce contemporary abstract artists from Korea and Japan as our overseas partnerships expand. Artists like Park Seo-Bo, Lee Ufan, and Ayako Rakkaku are already in high demand in both London and New York. Additionally, collectors from those regions are enthusiastically interested in colorful abstract artists like Osvaldo Mariscotti, Howard Hodgkins, etc. I am observing a new generation of collectors developing a strong affinity for access to transnational art, and I really enjoy playing a key role in driving the discovery of these great artists!
2024 was a year of establishing our two primary gallery locations, London and New York. Now, we are refining our strategy, increasing our partnerships with other large galleries we respect and want to align with, artists’ estates, and artists, and looking at our presence in Asia, particularly Korea and Japan. I’m always looking for new opportunities to bridge the cultural gap and provide our audience and collectors with access to excellent artists that need to be recognized.
I’ll be continuing to expand Upsilon Gallery with a third location this year, and I’m really looking forward to the exciting shows we have planned, like our Osvaldo Mariscotti exhibition that will take place across both London and New York in the fall.
I haven’t always been a fan of Jim Dine’s hearts, but they are well-received and easily recognizable, and this one is endearingly small with that thick raised texture from the mixed pigment and sand. This is one of those works that is easy to enjoy.

After closing on a home in Palm Beach Gardens’ sought-after Ballen Isles Country Club, a New York-based couple called on dear friend and designer Barbara Lewis of The Lewis Group to begin dreaming up the ultimate destination for not only themselves but their children, grandchildren, and close friends as well. However, Lewis had quite the task ahead of her, as the couple was working against a very tight deadline.
After months of working with contractors from the Northeast to sort out the gutting and remodeling of two bathrooms, as well as creating cohesive wood flooring throughout, it was time for Lewis to get decorating, but it was already July and the couple had their sights set on everything being ready in September. They hoped their daughter and son-in-law could break in the house by celebrating his 40th birthday with their closest friends at the end of that month. This meant Lewis and her team had 70 days to finish the bathrooms and flooring, decorate the home, and have all items delivered, which she ended up finding to be a very rewarding challenge.
After establishing the clients’ vision for the home as a sunny place to host the people they love most, the family envisioned a quiet, serene color palette that was heavy on the blues and would be a soothing backdrop to the day’s events, whether hosting another couple for a leisurely long weekend away from snowy New York or for gathering all four grandchildren for a busy week of activity.
It was important to the couple that the home would lend a coastal vibe without feeling overly beachy, and Lewis began scheming up a sophisticated design that would feel appropriate in its environs while feeling elevated and representative of the family’s lifestyle. The initial spark for the interiors came while Lewis was attending a Design Social Studio pop-up event at the Norton Museum of Art last winter which hosted an array of boutique textile and wallpaper
vendors. She fell in love with a wallpaper from Victoria Larson that offered the subtle, sophisticated nod to South Florida that she was looking for and everything started to fall into place from there.
In fact, wallpaper became an important part of the home’s design, from the classic stripe in the family room to the floral Lee Jofa pattern, the star of the show in the primary bedroom. While Lewis kept in line with the desired tranquil color palette, she brought in pops of visual interest through pattern and texture, such as the chic and cheeky palm tree floor lamp and rattan chair from local-favorite Devonshire in the family room.
“This space really reflects what the clients were looking for because you have the simple yet elegant elements of the sisal rug and Century Furniture sectional mixed with these interesting pieces,” says Lewis. “The banquette area has become a favorite of the kids, too.”
Since the couple both work and only get down to the home one week each month, Lewis created a breezy, lightdrenched office space that would allow the husband to still feel like he was in paradise even while conducting business. While the home is suited for hosting, it was important to the designer to create some rooms of respite that would ensure the house could serve whatever purpose it needed in the moment.
“The family felt like we really nailed what they were looking for, and it made me so happy how thrilled they were with how the house turned out, especially given such a short time frame,” says Lewis. “Under the right circumstances, you really can work with your best friends on something and still end up with a friendship when it’s all over.”

One of the most rewarding parts of this project is that being so close to the clients, Lewis is really able to see how they live and enjoy the home. It’s versatile enough to suit the couple for a welcome change of scenery while working from home, while spacious and not-too-precious to accommodate three generations enjoying a sunny holiday getaway together in a place that is sure to create lasting memories of all kinds for years to come.

Ashley Brown, adopted as an infant, experienced a second chance at life and was inspired by her family’s love to pay forward her blessings. In 2015, Ashley and her husband, Ed Brown, founded Selfless Love Foundation (SLF) to provide foster youth with the same opportunities and dreams that she had. Through SLF, foster children are connected with forever families, youth aging out of care are supported, and advocacy efforts impact the entire foster care system.
Looking to the future, Ashley shares, “Selfless Love Foundation aims to transform child welfare.” Dedicated to impact, One of their major achievements was the passage of Florida’s first law to protect the photos of children in foster care who are available for adoption. This victory sparked a national vision, with SLF planning a federal law to extend similar protections across the U.S. Each year, SLF hosts a National Think Tank, gathering child welfare experts from over 40 states to discuss policy improvements. The foundation believes in collective impact—coming together to drive positive social change in foster care systems, including adoption, youth support, and policy reform.
Since its inception, Selfless Love Foundation has made a significant impact: serving 845 families, housing 636 aged-out youth, finalizing 506 adoptions, providing 13,474 hours of
leadership and life skills training, and partnering with 115 agencies.
