“It is our mission to shape and contribute to a more sustainable future in collaboration with our customers, partners, and suppliers in everything we do.”
Founder & CEO Rune Søgaard LarsenWithin the lighting industry, there has been an increased focus on climate change and the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals in recent years, and Lumega Group is no exception.
At Lumega Group, we are aware of our social responsibility, and it is important for us to contribute to a more sustainable and responsible world. Therefore, we strive to incorporate the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals into our daily work and production as much as possible.
The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals were adopted in 2016 with the aim of creating a more sustainable and inclusive development for both the planet and its people. We believe that everyone can contribute to achieving these goals by 2030.
No one can do it all alone, but if we all contribute where we can, we believe it will make a significant difference in creating a greener, healthier, and more humane future.
To concentrate our efforts on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, Lumega Group has selected 8 of the goals on which we focus and place extra emphasis.
LED lighting is an extremely efficient lighting option that offers several advantages over traditional bulbs:
• LEDs convert more energy directly into light instead of heat.
• LEDs have a much longer lifespan.
• LEDs use fewer toxic materials such as mercury in their production.
• LEDs are more environmentally friendly as they consume less energy.
At Lumega, we have chosen to specialize in LED lighting due to its numerous environmental benefits in relation to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Goal 7: Affordable and
LED lighting is significantly more energy-efficient than traditional light sources such as incandescent bulbs and fluorescent tubes. This helps reduce energy consumption and, consequently, limit CO2 emissions.
Goal 9: Industry, Innovation,
LED lighting is a key component in the sustainable upgrade of existing buildings and urban environments. Retrofitting allows for upgrading older but still functional fixtures with more modern and energy-efficient technology.
LED lighting is more energy-efficient than traditional lighting, reducing energy consumption, CO2 emissions, and environmental impact. By transitioning to LED lighting, cities can reduce their negative environmental footprint and promote sustainable urbanization. LED lighting can enhance illumination in public spaces and green areas, increasing their accessibility, safety, and attractiveness. By fostering the development of public spaces and green areas, LED lighting supports the creation of more sustainable and appealing cities.
LED lighting has a much longer lifespan than traditional light sources and contains fewer hazardous and potentially toxic materials. This contributes to reducing the amount of waste generated and aligns with the principles of responsible consumption and production.
Due to LED lighting’s advantageous energy savings, it indirectly contributes to reducing CO2 emissions as less energy is required to illuminate the same area. Being more energy-efficient means less electricity is needed, resulting in lower CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions.
As a lighting company, we are well aware of the impact that lighting has on people. Our office is equipped with “Human Centric Lighting” (HCL).
This means that the lighting changes in color and intensity throughout the day to always provide the right light. Human Centric Lighting is therefore instrumental in promoting better well-being for individuals.
Smart lighting can lead to significant energy savings. By utilizing sensors and automation, it is possible to ensure that there is light only when necessary. This helps reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
Smart lighting can contribute to sustainable industrialization by creating a more comfortable and productive work environment for employees. By adapting the color and intensity of the lighting to different tasks and users, smart lighting systems can improve productivity and well-being. Additionally, automated lighting solutions with motion sensors and schedules can reduce energy usage by turning lights on and off at the right times, thus contributing to a more sustainable industry.
Smart lighting can contribute to the development of more sustainable urban environments by reducing wasted energy on illuminating areas that do not require it. By utilizing LED technology, sensors, and automation, smart lighting can automatically adjust light levels and patterns to match the needs of different areas and times of the day. This can not only result in significant energy savings but also create more comfortable and safe urban environments with improved lighting in areas where it is most needed.
Smart lighting passively contributes to reducing CO2 emissions. By utilizing intelligent lighting control solutions, light can be used precisely where it is needed, minimizing unnecessary usage.
By using smart lighting and HCL, we can help protect biodiversity and natural habitats for animals and insects by reducing light pollution. By controlling color and light intensity, we can minimize the impact that artificial light has on wildlife and our ecosystems.
“We only produce what the customer orders.”
At Lumega, we only produce based on demand. This means that we never have excess inventory waiting to be sold.
We always strive to produce high-quality products that can last for many years. By doing so, we also reduce the need for additional production and contribute to waste reduction.
Lumega is also a member of Dansk Producent Ansvar (Danish Producer Responsibility), which confirms our commitment to producing in a sustainable and responsible manner.
Reusing packaging is beneficial for the environment and the climate. At Lumega, we are aware that the more we recycle and reuse, the less CO2 we emit, resulting in reduced air pollution and environmental damage.
Therefore, we make sure to reuse all our packaging materials to minimize waste production. This means that we always reuse old cardboard boxes for new shipments. Additionally, we sort and save all packaging fillers so that we can reuse them in the future.
We take pride in doing our best to minimize our environmental footprint when it comes to packaging recycling.
At Lumega, we do not discriminate. We always hire our employees based on their professional skills and qualifications. We embrace individuals from all social groups, regardless of age, gender, nationality, religion, or ethnicity.
Lumega’s workforce represents diverse ethnicities, ages, and nationalities, and we do not tolerate any form of discrimination within our company.

We do not tolerate any form of discrimination against employees and partners. We actively work to maintain a healthy work environment and well-being, both in the office and the factory.
Lumega Group supports all internationally declared human rights and strictly opposes any form of forced labor, child labor, or deprivation of personal freedom.
At Lumega Group, we make an active effort to ensure that all materials used in the production of our products come from certified suppliers. We always strive to use materials that are directly recyclable and sustainable.
At Lumega Group, we commit to always marketing our products and services in a responsible and ethical manner. This means never engaging in false or misleading marketing and adhering to industry standards and certifications.
Lumega Group actively participates in activities aimed at improving our local community. Most recently, the entire team participated in Denmark’s Waste Collection 2023, where we contributed to clean-up and waste collection in our local area.
At Lumega, we believe that it is always important to engage with our surroundings and contribute where we can. That’s why the entire Lumega Group decided to participate in Denmark’s waste collection - a voluntary effort to collect waste around the country.
We dedicated a whole workday and put all our efforts into cleaning up Vesterbro in Copenhagen. With Istedgade, Kødbyen, and the lakes, there was plenty to tackle. We collected large items such as car batteries, mobile phones, bicycles, and much more.
But it wasn’t just the larger objects that we cleared up. We collected no less than 92 kg of waste consisting of cigarette butts, packaging, paper, various forms of plastic, and many other small items.
After a day of hard work and great teamwork, we could proudly see that Vesterbro had been cleaned up. As an added bonus, the entire team covered a total of 96,000 steps. It was a day focused on making a difference for our community and the environment, and we look forward to participating again in the future.
