BUILDERS BUZZ BY NICK GREEN Greens Plumbing and Heating A Veteran owned company. President LRBA I hope everything is going well with everyone. Our last meeting was informative with the local inspector, going over upcoming changes in the code. I'll be in Minneapolis on December 11th for the BAM board meeting, and I am also now on the government affairs committee, so if anyone has something they would like me to try and address, let me know. It gets frustrating dealing with excessive laws and regulations, sometimes, so one of the missions of BAM is to help keep things workable and to give us a voice. I only have a short time left as President, but will remain on the local board and our representative to BAM. Jim Herman will be the next President, and I have every faith and confidence in him.

THE MEETING, ON NOVEMBER 20th, WAS HELD AT LA BARISTA WITH DAVE NEISEN OUR SPEAKER FOR THE EVENING. DAVE IS
THE BUILDING OFFICIAL FOR DETROIT LAKES AND THE BUILDING INSPECTER FOR PERHAM. Dave talked on some of the code changes coming in 2015. Dave will also be an instructor at the BUILDERS EXPO being held on January 16th at the M-State Campus on Hwy 34, Detroit Lakes.
OUR NEXT MEETING IS SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 11th AND WILL BE HELD AT I’LL TILE AND STONE. Location is 1673 Dan Street. Social will be 6:30 and meeting to start at 7:00. They always host a top notch meeting, so make sure to attend! Todd Rodeman

Time is just flying by and it’s hard to believe Christmas is just a short time away. I hope you are all keeping busy working. It seems the construction business is booming right now. We just got done with our Plumbers Continuing Education class, so coming up we have our Electrical and Builders Continuing Education classes in January. If you have not signed up please give us a call. The Christmas party committee has lots of fun things planned for the annual awards/Christmas party. Letter from the editor The plumbing class we held on the 21st of November was well attended, with the Department of Labor & Industry instructor Gary Topp talking on the new codes coming in 2015 and 4 hours of Technical class instructed by Rick Michel, from Michel’s Sales and Service. Lots of things have been going on – the Home & Sport Show is well over half filled. We are working on getting sponsors to bring in Mad Dog & Merrill the Grilling Buddies. Brenda has been busy with lining everything up. SHARON I think it will be another great show with some new faces WESTERHOLM in the booths. As Nick mentioned, he is now on the government relations committee, and received raves from Remi Stone for his dedication to BAM and the building industry. Nick goes to all the “Builders Day on the Hill,” meeting with state representatives at the Capitol. If anyone would be interested in being a State Representative and going to the cities for BAM Board meetings, please let us know. Be sure and mark your calendars, from the schedule, so you don’t miss the Christmas party on January 9th. Invitations will be going out shortly, so be sure and watch for them. That should be a fun night, along with installing the new and old board members, awarding Spike awards and lots of chatting with fellow members. Wishing all of you a very Merry and Blessed Christmas.
