Runnin' The Courts

By Rochel West

The Northeast junior varsity boys basketball team had what they considered a remarkable season. Not only were the teammates motivated, but they were fast. This led them to their outstanding success throughout the year.

Although the feeling of success was sweet, the Rockets were also a little nervous. "I was really nervous the first game," says junior Josh Malousek . His anxiety died down as they played more . Malousek did play it safe, though, by wearing a brand new pair of socks for each game

Malousek had played on the junior varsity team for two years . This season he also played on the varsity basketball team. "Basketball is my best sport and I'm talented in it, " says Malousek

Even though East was voted the Rocket's biggest city rival due to tradition from previous years, the Spartans were not mentioned much Shane Einspahr did say, "We know them all and we don't like them "

However, the game most talked about was played against Grand Island "We were down by 20 points in the third quarter, but only lost by 2, " says Malousek The game was intense and the Islanders were described as a tough team

The loss never brought the Rockets down. The team kept their concentration throughout the season. Putting aside everything else, they kept their minds on what they were going to have to do to win their ball games while out on the court. Einspahr says, "Life's short, play hard "
