African American Celebration Club

P.A.C

Making a difference. That's the goal of members o f the Princi pal's Advisory Council. It' s a group thatmeetsoncea month and discu sses problemsthatmayariseat Northeast with in the student body. The group is made up of students that have teacher recommendation and can represent the different cultural backgrounds at Northeast.

One of the major events that P .A .C. worked onat N o rtheastthis year was ' Bridging the Gap'. Which was a multi-cultural fair that was put together by many different clubs and groups at Northeast.

ESL Friends Club

The purpo se of this club is to educate all members of the student body on other cultures and backgrounds. One main misconception is that this club is only for ESL students .

ESL Friends has become the main club for learning about others. Members learned about other cultures by hearing from particular students who, at each meeting, told about their culture.

Star Trek Club

The Star Trek club held a Voyager party at Villager Motor Inn on January 21. The group watched "The Making of Voyager ," which was a t.v . special shown before . The group then handed out promotions and chowed down on pizza. Then watched The Caretaker, the first Voyager epis o de

The club has a new look for this year. They have officers and hold weekly meetings The captain of the club is , Yasuao Taoka Frank Dolezal, First Leuitenant, puts out a newsletter about the clubs events and activities.

The club includes 28 members.

Russian Club

This year the Russian Club participated in a Russian essay contest. Each person wrote their whole essay in Russian. The contest was for second and third year students

The theme of the contest was "School in the 21st century. " The essay could be as long as the writer desired , but most were half of a page long.

Seven members entered . Four students received medals and three students received an honorable mention .

Russian Club is a focus on the Russian culture for those who are interested in learning about their ancestral heritage or are just intrigued by the culture in itself

Art Club

Graffiti on the walls!?

Since when does the administration allow students to paint on the walls?

Ever since they came up with the idea to paint a mural promoting cultural diversity and ecology . It was a group decision . They wanted to paint something on the wall that symbolized life in the 90 's.

The mural was designed by Julie Thai, and will consist of people of different nationalities holding hands around the Earth. Everyone will get to draw and paint their own person

They hope that their mural will remain on the wall at Northeast for many years to come.
