Fun Runners

Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid , Donner, Blitzen, and not to forget Rudolph

Fun Runners participated in the Jingle Bell Run, on December 4, dressed as candy cane reindeer, winning the costume contest in the proces s.

"We had red and white striped long johns and antlers," commented one member

Fun Runners ran 5 miles, making up 16 of the 500 runners who competed in this event.

Math Club

Math Day was a day of numbers and fun for all the members of Northeast's Math Club Scholarship opportunities were just waiting to be snatched up at UNL on the day of November 17th The Math Club was entered in a math tournament consisting of two categories The first was the individual testingwhereNortheastawed them all with their high scores Then there was the exciting Math Bowl which only three members were representing Northeast.

Zack Lane came in 10th, winning a $2,000 scholarship, but the big winner was Aaron Weatherman who came in 3rd, winning a $4,000 scholarship .

Bill Rogge, group leader, was extremely proud

Guitar Club

Although the members of this club don't play for Guns-N-Roses or Brooks and Dunn, with a couple more years of practice and hard work they could be on their way The guitar club is a club for people who play guitar seriously, people who play guitar for a hobby, and it also includes people who just want to learn how to play a guitar

"Two guys in our club don't even have guitars So we share and let them borrow ours , because they are there to learn and we don't want to deny them that, " explained Rich Stripling

The music in this club is brought in by the members so they can all learn to play a particular song. "The music tends to lean more towards heavy metal , but we have a wide variety of members and play a wide variety of music ."

Young Democrats

This was the first year for the Young Democrats club at L.N.E., and they already had many great experiences

One of their most interesting events was ushering for the governor's inaugural ball.

Four members of the Young Democrats club participated in ushering and seating dignitaries at Governor Ben Nelson 's inaugural ball.

When asked what his most memorable event of the evening was Dan Caporaso said " Having a conversation with United State's Senator Bob Kerry ."

Other activities that the Young Democrats Club participated in were having guest speakers, assisting in political campaigns, and registering voters.

Teenage Republicans

This year's Teenage Republican club was very excited abouttheir invitational volleyball meet with the other clubs at Northeast

The volleyball meet was held on Saturday April 30 The volleyball meet was a fund raiser for the club, and had a ten dollar admissions charge for any club wishing to participate The teams were allowed to have six members but the tournament was a four on four tournament.

Other activities the Teenage Republicans have participated in were : working on campaigns and registering voters.

Native American Caucus

The Native American Caucus had a full year of cultural activities . A highlight was the drum groups and dancers, formed within the group, thatcompeteincontests. The group made their own clothes consisting of brussels for the guys and show dresses for the girls. They also did bead and feather work. The club also participated in art and craft booths that showed Native American bead work and regalla .

Other activities of this group include Fund raising to go on a pow-wow, and a food booth at the Multicultural fair . The booth served Indian tacos.
