Going a step up, that's what its all about Freshman volleyball players aren't used to playing at the high school level but thats not to say that they didn't play like high school atheletes.
11 This year was a lot harder and much more competitive than junior high, 11 said freshman Jenny Cole
When these young, future Varsity players were out on the court they tried to concentrate on each play. Leting each other know what was happening and what just happened was a big part of their team work.
Being a freshman sport they were not used to having big city rivals , but they soon found out what it was all about
The team felt that Lincoln East wasn't any better than them , but in the games against them , they lost.
In the first game the team was ready , and took East 15-6. Being East though , with their tradition of excellence in volleyball, they came back to take the next two matches 1512, 15-1 . ·
The second game however was a little closer Losing in the first match the Rockets came back to fight their hardest in the second to win 15-5. That was enough for the Spartans to retaliate and win the third match 15- 7. So with the final game score of 7-15, 15-5, 7-15 the Freshman team went out hoping that ne xt year they can get them.
One thing the girls had to make sure of was that when they got ahead they wouldn't let it go to their heads
11 This is one thing that we could have gotten better at during the season," said freshman Jill Hattan
