Tackling the Big Ones

By LeAnn Becker

You don't normally hear a lot about the freshmen football teams but they are ready to be acknowledged. When asked how the crowd affected him, Jeremy Just said, "I haven't a clue because we don't get anyone at our games."

At first the teams didn't do so well, but by the time the season was over they could play with the big boys The white team had an awesome last game against Waverly The score at half-time was 18-0. The coach was very excited but a little nervous that the boys would be over confident in the last half He was wrong though and the final score was 40-6 One of the more interesting plays was a hitch, and pitch play by J.R. Koch.

As for the Black team they ended the season just as good as the white team. They had their best run of 60 yards by Clifford Brye Nathanial Zabel had two touchdowns that wouldn't have been possible if the defense hadn't have came through.

With over fifty player s it was obvious that the team would have to be split into two teams. Since most of the freshmen can't drive or have jobs not a lot can come in their way of practicing A few decided from the side lines that football just was not their calling and moved on to other things.

The tells them what to expect before a game, but they can still get pretty nervous. "When we're behind we just have to push more and it's harder then pushing to stay ahead ," said Chris Summers
