Teaching the drurnline manners is just one of the main things Paul Gausman, the new band director, focused on this year. Band camp this summer was a real experience for the drurnline. He wanted to get them to be better players and to be less rowdy

"The drumline is the 'hear tbeat' of the band," commented Gausman.

One of the more rowdy things Gausman and the drurnline thought up this year was to make a choo - choo train . In the first piece of the show the drumline features a snared rum, a bass drum, and cymbols to make it sound as though they're playing a trap set. During this time the other drummers are bobbing up and down like a train. Another strange thing the drurnline did was to put brown paper sacks on their head and call themselves the potato heads

"I don ' t necessarily only work with the drumline , it's just my speciality," said Gausman when asked why he focuses so much time with the drurnline.

Gausman brought new ideas to the band this year. As he would always say, 'You have to sell your show.' His goal for the year was to get everyone to be ' focused' players.
