With the roaring sounds of drums beating and the tribal sounds of screaming students Africa : Ceremony, Song, and Ritual became a very popular song with the symphonic band . This song was picked by Mr Paul Gausman, symphonic band director .

The band didn't have enough percussion members to make up the number of instruments needed for all the parts sovolunteers were asked to help out.

Whenthe drums and the tribal sounds come into motionalmosteveryone is moving in their chairs and swaying back and forth to the beat. Half of the time, Mr Gausmanhas to quiet down the brass section for yelling too loud , they make it sound exactly like a tribal ceremony The song also requires singing by the brass and woodwinds .

There are numerous opportunities for solos in the song There are two flute solos and a combined trumpet and oboe solo The new type of music adds quite an excited feeling to the symphonic band.

The band also took a trip to World's of Fun on May 13
