What comes to mind when you hear Penguins of Destruction? A video game? Killer inhabitants of Antarctica? Or what about Jumping Kate? An exercise video?

Well Penguins of Destruction and Jumping Kate are just two of the many local bands in and around Lincoln

Penguins of Destruction was named when it's members were all sitting around trying to think up a name. Someone said penguins. Someone said destruction and Penguins of Destruction fell into place Penguins of Destruction is made up of 6 people They are : Matt Works, Matt Kimmerling, Pat McWilliams, Jennifer McWilliams , Ben Koftwitz, and Kevin Lyons

Jumping Kate was named when one of the members jokingly said Jumping Kate, due to the fact that band member Kate

Boner jumps around while she sings and plays guitar. Jumping Kate constitutes of four members. Mark Lee, Glenn Smith, Casey Kinnan, and Kate Boner

Right now Jumping Kate has two eds out. You can buy Loaded Gun and Draw the Line at any local music store.

CurrentlyPenguinsofDestructionisworking on an album, containing nine original songs.

Both Penguins of Destruction and Jumping Kate write their own music

"It's sort of a cross between Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, and Metallica" said Penguins ofDestructionmember Matt Kimerling.

Both bands enjoy and appreciate the support they recieve. They would like to see a place where local bands could get together "Like a mini Lalapalooza" commented Kate Boner. ,

Both of the bands can be seen by students at coffee houses, benefits, Shakes, and areas surrounding Lincoln.

When you remember high school, what do you remember most?

Friends The friendships you make in the years you ' re in school, stay with you fore v er. They're the ones you look forward to seeing when you go to your class reunions, and they're the ones who take you back to your childhood years and make you remember all the fun times you had Whether it's pranks you played on your siblings or telling secrets at slumber parties, those memories will be cherished always

For those leaving school and going into the "real world," lifestyles will change, becoming more challenging, and the need for friends will be even greater They'll be there to room with, gossip with, fight with, and whenever you need it they'll always have a shoulder for you to cry on Looking back on the school year, it's not the classes, or the grades, or even the teachers you remember . It's the clubs with your friends, lunch with your friends, going to games with your friends, everything you recall is with your friends, as it should be . For nothing would matter if there wasn't someone to share the excitement of life with.
