Lovejoy ISD recently entered into a partnership with My Community Credit Union. This partnership is intended to enhance student opportunities in the areasoffinancialliteracyandprovidehands-onlearningexperiencesforfuture careersrelatedtofinance.AnMCCUbranchisscheduledtoopenatLovejoyHigh Schoolinthefallof2024.
Thispastfall,MCCUkickedofftheirDebitCardDesignContest.Thecontestwas opentoallLISDstudents.Morethan100entriesweresubmitted.Amemberof MCCU and three LISD teachers served on the panel of judges. SUMMER ACTIVITIES QUICK GUIDE


Lovejoy ISD offers a variety of summer activities including summer enrichment and athletic camps for children entering pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Enrichment and athletic camps are offered in weekly sessions with morning and afternoon options available. View the full Summer Activities Guide with camp descriptions here.
Lovejoy ISD Summer Activities offer a variety of benefits for children including opportunities for:
Academic Growth: Reinforcing skills learned during the school year
Exploration: Trying new activities and exploring areas of interest which can help them discover new passions and talents
Skill Development: Reinforcing previously learned skills as well as developing new skills necessary to excel in each activity or sport
REGISTRATION
Online registration begins April 8, 2024.
Healthy Habits: Promoting a healthy lifestyle and the importance of physical activity
Socialization: Developing important social skills such as teamwork and communication, as they interact with their peers in an engaging environment.
Access to Resources: Interacting with resources and learning opportunities that may not be available to them during the regular school year.
All payments will be made through the Parent Online Payment Center on the LISD website. You can access the Parent Online Payment Center using the "Register Now" button below or by using the direct link located in each camp's description on the following pages
When using the Parent Online Payment Center, you will select either the "Summer Enrichment" tile or the "Summer Athletic Camps" tile depending on which type of camp you are registering for Registration for each camp will close on the Monday prior to the first day of camp
Refunds will not be provided if you cancel your child’s registration. Locations of summer activities are subject to change. In order for an enrichment camp to make, a minimum of six students must enroll. If an enrichment camp does not make due to low enrollment, parents will be notified by Tuesday, May 21st, and camp tuition will be fully refunded

LastFridaynight,inthe2ndroundoftheplayoffs,thevarsitygirlssoccerteam beat Lufkin 6-0. Goals were scored by Ella York, Emma Nelson (2), Kenlea Swadener, Gracyn Thompson, and Brenna Wallace. Goals were assisted by Emma Nelson, Lainey Pierce, Gracyn Thompson, Bailee Neatherlin, Kylee Dziubinski, and Ainsley Johnson. On Tuesday night, in the region quarterfinal, the varsity girls beat Forney 6-1 after four goals in the first half against the wind. TRIP SUCCESS
This past week, the LHS Orchestra traveled to Colorado to compete in the Winter Park MusicFestival.TheyperformedforjudgesonThursdayevening,March30th.Notonlydid the orchestra receive all Superior ratings from the judges, but they were also awarded BestinClass(bestoverall5AOrchestra)aswellasGrandChampion(bestorchestraofthe week).TheawardsceremonywasheldonFridayeveningafterstudentsenjoyedtheday having fun in the snow Students were able to ski, snowboard, take lessons on either, snow tube or take snow cat tours of the mountain. Students had a great time making memories in the snow! A big thank you to our parent chaperones and booster club for helpingmakethisyear'stripasuccess!

LEGION SCHOLAR
LovejoySenior,DavidDavidIII,waschosenasone of ten 2024 Samsung American Legion Scholars nationwide.Heholdsthedistinctionofbeingthe first Scholar selected from the State of Texas sincetheprogram’sestablishmentin1996.David was rewarded with a $10,000 scholarship and a tourofWashington,D.C.,thankstoSamsungand theAmericanLegion.
During David’s trip, he had the opportunity to meet the other Scholars and numerous Legionnaires from across the country. He visited Arlington National Cemetery, where the Sons of theAmericanLegionlaidawreathattheTombof


the Unknown Soldier. He met “The Old Guard,” the Army’s official ceremonial unit responsible for guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. David also attended the SenatefortheNationalChaplainprayerand was then given a behind-the-scenes tour of the U.S. Capitol. Additionally, he attended wreath-laying ceremonies at the Korean War Memorial, the Vietnam Wall Memorial, and the World War II Memorial, plus toured manynationalmonumentsandmuseums.
David was proud to represent the State of Texas and Lovejoy ISD as a guest of Samsung, the American Legion, and the Hale-Combest Post #315 of Wylie. In July, David is scheduled to speak at the 105th American Legion Convention in Austin, Texas. We are #LovejoyProud of David respresentingLovejoyandTexaswithpride.

LeopardAcademyisanopportunityforyourchild to participate in enrichment activities on his or her campus before and after school.
