Mr. Burger, 6th grade Math Teacher at Sloan Creek Intermediate School, engaged students in a fun, hands-on lesson about important math concepts like data collection, scatter plots, linear regression, and making predictions usingtrendlines.Theobjectiveoftheprojectwasforstudentstopredictthe number of rubber bands they would have to tie to their group's doll/action figureforittohaveasuccessfulBungeeJumpoffthe2ndstoryroof.

Duringthefirstphaseoftheproject, studentsestimatedthesizeofthejumpby measuringthedistancebetweenthe2ndstoryroofandthegroundusingonly meter sticks and tape. Once they felt comfortable with the accuracy of their data, they made a 4Corner Model that included a table, equation, graph, and story for the data they collected. Finally, the students used their 4-Corner Model to make their final prediction for how many rubber bands they would need to tie to their doll/actionfigures'anklesforittohaveasuccessfulbungeejumpoffthe2nd storyroof.
