CAMDEN MARKETS CELEBRATES 50TH ANNIVERSARY

London’s iconic market celebrates milestone birthday with three-month festival of music, art, dance, food and fashion from all around the world. Known as the playground for the rebellious and free spirited, Stables, Lock and Hawley Wharf will come alive with a three-month festival of diverse and unique free events.

The spirit of Camden Market began when a Saturday market opened in Camden Town, featuring 16 stalls selling antiques, jewellery and arts and crafts. Today, five decades later, this iconic destination is home to over 1,000 independent traders, unique shops, vibrant visitors and locals that make up the fabric of Camden

Kicking off the festivities will be Pride Family Day in association with The Toy Project charity, where families will be able to enjoy the Toy Project workshop, panto dame storytelling, face painting and a colourful cabaret parade. Saturday, 20th July will mark the opening celebration of South Asian Heritage Month with the Camden Market Mela where visitors will be invited to enjoy a rich programme of community arts, dance, food and live music. Saturday, 17th August will play host to Camden Market’s Bollywood Festival, a celebration of South Asian and Indian culture, with an array of vibrant and visual performances, including live music, drumming performances, traditional dance and food tastings.

PATTERNS BRIGHTON PRIDE LINEUPS

Patterns Brighton once again leads from the front this summer with a cultured mix of forward-thinking underground events and vibrant Pride celebrations. The likes of Saoirse, Moxie, Coco Bryce, Mike Dunn, Jacques Greene and more will all play at the iconic seafront venue.

Patterns has long been at the heart of Brighton’s famously tasteful music scene and has a reputation for always moving it forward. Sold-out weekly events cover all musical bases with a fine blend of DJs, live acts, bands, crews, and collectives.

Heathrow is giving up-and-coming British musical acts a platform like no other this summer, on the new Heathrow Introducing stage in Terminal 5.

In what is set to be Heathrow’s busiest summer on record with the airport preparing to welcome over 30 million passengers between June and September, the initiative will give some of Britain’s most promising artists access to an audience bigger than Glastonbury. And with hundreds of music execs set to travel through the airport for festival season, the stage will give them the rare chance to be ‘spotted’ and propel their career to new heights.

The Heathrow Introducing stage has been curated in partnership with global music community Sofar Sounds, renowned for launching the careers of some of today’s biggest stars like Billie Eilish and Leon Bridges. Sofar Sounds worked with Heathrow to curate a diverse line up of emerging artists spanning pop, jazz, folk, RnB, soul and rock.

Royal Society opens its doors for its annual Summer Science Exhibition, celebrating cutting edge science. This year’s extravaganza will take place from 2 to 7 July, kicking off with an adults-only Lates event on Tuesday 2 July followed by a full opening to the general public at 10am on July 3.

Visitors will not only get the chance to see a huge range of science and talk to hundreds of leading scientists at the top of their game, but also meet the scientists of tomorrow from schools around the UK.

Crazy Smooth - In My Body Canada’s b-boy Crazy Smooth presents In My Body, a dynamic exploration of the effects of ageing on the street dancer’s entire being – body, mind and spirit.

Crazy Smooth has assembled an intergenerational all-star cast of five men and four women comprised of Canada’s top street dancers, who execute the physically demanding and visually impressive choreography alongside projections and spoken word, and featuring an original soundtrack by DJ Shash’U.

TART BASE

Unsalted Butter

100 gm

Icing/ Confectioners’ sugar 50 gm

It’s time to welcome sunkissed strawberries, the juicy red berries are the cream of the summer fruit crop. Pick a pint of fresh strawberries to make your favourite desserts. Celebrate the irresistible berry season by serving them in cakes, bakes, desserts and pies, or use to flavour booze. Sweet, succulent and plump, strawberries are delicious, besides an excellent source of antioxidants and Vitamin C. Enjoy this delicious strawberry recipe and have a great summer.

Salt 1 pinch

Milk 2 Tbl spoon

All-purpose flour 150 gm

Vanilla extracts few Drops

MASCARPONE

CREAM FOR FILLING

Whipped topping cream 100 gm

Mascarpone cheese 100 gm

Vanilla extracts few drops

Fruit topping and garnish

Fresh Strawberry

Chocolate /Nuts (Optional)

DIRECTIONS

1. Sieve flour, salt and keep a side.

2. Cream butter and sugar in small bowl.

3. Make dough by mixing all ingredients and keep dough in refrigerator for an hour.

4. Remove dough from the refrigerator and roll out. Place into a greased tart pan and press it down into the pan and up the sides until it is even all around. Refrigerate tart for at least 10-15 minutes.

5. Preheat oven to 170°C. Remove tart from the refrigerator, dock it with fork and bake for 15 to 18 minutes.

6. Allow to cool completely before filling.

7. Make filling by mix all in ingredients carefully with spatula and fill tart with same filling.

8. Garnish the tart with fresh Strawberry and any other garnish like Chocolate, slice pistachio for colour contras. LONDON
