Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Pasadena Alumnae Chapter
Founded in 1903 and located in Arcadia, Methodist Hospital of Southern California is a full-service community hospital with 348 licensed beds. The hospital offers advanced cardiovascular services including cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, and open-heart surgery. Los Angeles County has designated Methodist Hospital as both a heart attack and stroke receiving center as well an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics. The hospital also offers a variety of services in orthopedics, neurosurgery, obstetrics, and many other medical specialties. As many as 40,000 patients are treated annually in the Emergency Department, while the hospital staff delivers more than 1,800 babies annually and typically has more than 16,000 patient admissions each year.
Purpose Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is a private, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. The sorority currently has 1,000 collegiate and alumnae chapters located in the United States, Canada, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Jamaica, and the Republic of Korea. Mission Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is an organization of college-educated women committed to the constructive development of its members and to public service with a primary focus on the Black community. The Pasadena Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered on January 27, 1961 to serve the greater Pasadena/Altadena and surrounding areas. In realizing our mission, our organization provides an extensive array of public service initiatives through our Five-Point Programmatic Thrust of: Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Political Awareness and Involvement, and Physical and Mental Health.
