Welcome

Welcome to the 2025 Big Hills & Guests Simmental Sale! We’re glad you can be here to see the exceptional bulls and heifers that we have on offer.

Marcischuk Farms began in 1964 when Robert and Iris bought their first quarter of land northwest of Rackham. Years of hard work and long days provided success for the farm, and it grew to include a cream contract, milking cows, hogs, bountiful crops and two children, my sister Deborah and I.

I began to take over the farm as a young man. Dad and I bought our first Simmental Bull in 1974, and I was hooked for life. We continued to buy Simmental bulls for our commercial beef herd and got to know several local breeders. The more I learned, the more I wanted to be involved. The opportunity to invest in a herd of Simmentals and get started in the Registered Simmental business came up in 2002. We dove in, and I quickly learned as much as I could about genetics and how to breed the kind of cattle that I would want to buy. I learned to Artificially Inseminate and started collecting unique and valuable genetics to infuse into the herd.

I continue to be interested in the Full Blood cattle, especially those that are Polled, and have also expanded into Purebred and Black genetics. We have our best bulls on offer for you today. These bulls come from both our spring and fall calving programs, from natural and AI breeding, and continue to include notable bloodlines from across the industry.

We are very pleased to share some of the herd we have developed with other breeders and commercial cattlemen alike. Additional genetic testing has been submitted, and results will be available prior to the sale. Videos of the bulls will also be available in the coming weeks with the link to videos available on the Transcon website.

Animals will be available for viewing at Heartland Auction Mart as of 6 pm, Thursday, April 10th. Please join us for lunch at the auction mart cafeteria starting at noon on sale day.

Thank you for being here and thank you for your business!

The bull feeding program is built to maximize forage utilization, gut health and as a result quality sperm production. Nutritional status of a bull, particularly from the previous 60-days can affect the semen quality being ejaculated today. Sperm production is a continuous process and proper nutrition is critical to maintain peak fertility and longevity of bulls. Bull calves are generally developed on grass with their mom’s on a quality mineral program.

Once bull calves are weaned, they are moved onto a diet with the right forage and a balanced bull ration to help them develop and express their genetic potential. This is important for consistency of maturation and puberty in bull calves.

Forage quality and digestibility are important for maximizing rumen health. The addition of organic minerals are used to ensure proper immune function and overall health of the bulls. All of these factors contribute to semen quality and conception within a herd.

If you have any questions about the nutrition program, please feel free to reach out. Buy with confidence knowing the bulls have been developed on a balanced nutrition program.

Best of luck on sale day!

Welcome to the Big Hills Simmentals and Guests Bull Sale.

We are very excited to showcase one of our finest bulls in the sale this year. We are a family run purebred and commercial simmental operation. We have been growing our purebred herd slowly over the past 15 years by purchasing select females, using AI sires, striving for quality over quantity. Our herd building focus is on good temperament, udder quality and overall soundness.

We would like to thank past, present and future buyers who continue to believe in our program. Without the support doing what we love wouldn’t be possible.

MLD Game On 6L is a bull we are quite proud of, he’s got a very docile temperament, lots of thickness and has an excellent foot under him. Right from a calf he has been a stand out, his mother is one of our top producing cows. We are currently running a full brother and sister in the herd so we can back this bull with confidence to go and work in someone’s program. We used 6L to clean up AI cows last summer, and with the amount of half sisters in the herd we unfortunately won’t have a spot for him this summer.
