n the design world, visual hierarchy is the process of organsing design elements in an order of importance. It has much to do with how we notice things. Where our eye moves to first and where it moves to next. Most common is the F pattern, which is how we read - from left to right and then wrapping around back down. When designing, the F pattern is used most often so that the lettering is easy to take in and consume visually. However, when it comes to images, the Z pattern is mostly used - as we are able to process images faster than text. When images and text are combined, it becomes a little trickier but not impossible to engage the viewer. The Z pattern can again be used - think of this order - Header Image - Sub-header..
