WELCOME TO LIONHEART

The Lionheart Educational Trust established in 2013 with Beauchamp College as its founding provider, welcoming its first additional school in 2014 to become a multi-academy trust. Now Lionheart is 17 schools strong, with primaries through to post-16 making up our East Midlands multi-academy trust.

Each of our schools has its own special, unique character and contexts; but our shared culture unites us. We are truly greater than the sum of our parts and every member of our community is valued and valuable as we work to ensure the highest quality education for all our learners.

I believe that education has the power to create new and exciting life chances for young people and I am passionate about seeing them being able to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Lionheart Educational Trust aims to play a part in preparing learners to be confident, resilient, mature, aspirational and active young people. It is essential to shape learners with these key qualities and as a Trust, we seek to break down barriers in order to provide opportunities for all pupils to progress. I am proud to have a staff body who are united in this aim; to drive up standards and provide exciting opportunities for young people.

We seek to create lifelong learners and offer outstanding provision for our 4-19 year olds. To do that, we invest in our teachers, leaders and associate staff through empowerment, encouraging the sharing of best practice across the Trust, career planning and the extensive offering of CPD opportunities. I encourage you, as a valued member of our staff body, to take advantage of these opportunities.

I look forward to working with you as Lionheart’s journey continues to open up doors for learners across the East Midlands.

To empower every person from every background to unlock their future and thrive in a competitive world.

We do this by

• Embracing opportunities and challenges where we know we can make the most difference

• Doing what is right not what is easy

• Investing in and developing our staff to achieve their full potential

• Ensuring that equity is at the forefront of everything we do

• Celebrating diversity and individuality

LIONHEART’S MISSION STAFF PLEDGE

The staff pledge is a promise to the communities that we serve that we will work with them with limitless enthusiasm and optimism to provide a platform for each young person’s light to shine brightly.

To fulfil the pledge we commit to the 3Ps throughout our work:

PUPIL-CENTRED

We are committed to our belief that schools are run for pupils and that everything we do is for their opportunities to succeed at school and in the future

POSITIVE

We all embrace challenges with a positive and open-mind, always looking for opportunities to develop young people

PROFESSIONAL

We seek to model professionalism at all times

GET TO KNOW YOUR EMPLOYER, LIONHEART

Every person who works at Lionheart makes an impact on the lives of young people across our East Midlands schools. Our mission is to give our young people the very best opportunities to open doors to their futures and we know that in order to deliver that, all our staff deserve the same. Which is why we invest in our staff, create opportunities and encourage ambition.

Joining the Lionheart team, whether in a central Trust role or at one of our schools means:

1 GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES

We invest in your future. Our own professional development offer, ‘Elevate with Lionheart’, gives you access to comprehensive internal training programmes, online learning, professional qualifications, collaborative opportunities and pathways for career advancement.

2 PURPOSE-DRIVEN WORK

We’re dedicated to ensuring that all our young people have opportunities to open doors so that they can thrive in a competitive world. In joining us, you’ll help us achieve this mission as we know that every member of staff plays their part. It is you that helps us make that difference.

3

COLLABORATIVE ENVIRONMENT

You’ve joined a team of like-minded individuals who are passionate about what they do. We facilitate collaboration between schools and colleagues and promote an open-door policy where everyone can have a voice.

We celebrate different perspectives and backgrounds, fostering a workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered to share their ideas. A diverse workforce of beliefs and experiences enhances the understanding of our young people. We know that discrimination exists, and we take positive action to eradicate it and promote equity and inclusion.

5 WORK-LIFE BALANCE

Life outside of work matters. We’ve introduced flexible and remote working to support you in maintaining a healthy balance. BEEHIVE

YOUR CENTRALISED EVERY DAY RESOURCE

You can access Beehive at beehive.lionhearttrust.org.uk and login using your usual IT login.

Beehive is an online resource that is bespoke to Lionheart Educational Trust and its schools. As well as hosting lots of tools and information for staff, dedicated areas are also used by students and parents.

You can ask for a training session on Beehive from your line manager, however, you will also find a range of learning resources under Beehive’s ‘Knowledgebase’

Here’s an overview of its capabilities:

USEFUL FOR TEACHING STAFF

Timetable – you can easily see your teaching timetable, knowing when, where who and what subject you will be teaching that day or week.

Classes – view your class lists, drill down into student information and set your seating plans for lessons.

Behaviour – view and apply rewards and sanctions for good and poor behaviour of students.

Assignments – set homework for students easily.

Events – set up extra-curricular events, allowing pupils to sign up easily.

USEFUL FOR ALL STAFF

Forms – a range of accessible online forms including mileage and expenses, claiming back payment for additional hours worked and purchase orders for buying goods.

Smartcard – top-up your ID card with money through Beehive to enable you to buy lunch on school premises using the cashless purchasing system.

QLT – our appraisal system for annual and mid-year performance reviews.

Employee Resources – Lots of personnel information such as staff benefits, HR guidance and staff awards. Knowledgebase - Resources for working digitally, helping you to achieve a succesful working day.

USEFUL INFO

SMARTCARD & LANYARD

When you start with Lionheart, you will be supplied with a smartcard and lanyard. The smartcard is your ID and will feature your photo and name. It must always be worn while on any school site so you can be easily identified. It will:

• Give you access to your school site gates and doors which use an electronic locking system (or access to multiple sites, depending on your role).

• Enable you to use any printer. NB you cannot print at all without your smartcard.

• Allow you to purchase food and drink on school site(s). NB. You must top up your card with money on Beehive first.

HOLIDAYS

Holiday allowance runs for the duration of the academic year, so from 1st September - 31st August. When you join, you will be advised of your entitlement for the remainder of that year.

Associate staff who work all year round, or are entitled to book annual leave during term-time, can manage holiday via Beehive.

GOLDEN TIME

All staff – teaching and associate – are entitled to one full working day or 5 separate hours of leave per academic year which can be taken during term-time. This is a Lionheart thank you to our staff and means you don’t need to miss that special family moment, or you can arrange that appointment that can’t be made outside of school hours. Golden time is requested through Beehive.

TRAVEL

If your role requires you to travel between sites, you are able to claim 45p per mile. This is different for staff on the company Tusker car scheme and is reviewed quarterly by the Government (8p per mile as at 1/6/24). You should calculate your usual return mileage from home to your contracted work base and deduct those miles from any travel claim to other sites. If you are visiting another site closer to your home, you are not entitled to claim for that journey. Mileage claims are made using Beehive forms.

PARKING

Complimentary parking is available across our school sites, however, please check with your site in case you need to be allocated a space.

EV CHARGING

Reduced rate charging for employees with electric or hybrid vehicles is available at these school sites:

• Sir Jonathan North Girls College (Knighton)

• Judgemeadow Community College (Evington)

• The Cedars Academy (Birstall)

• Broom Leys Primary School (Coalville)

• The Newbridge School (Coalville)

To secure the reduced rate, you must first register at tinyurl.com/4hzszf3n

PAYROLL

All staff are paid, by BACS, on the last working day of each month. Once you join Lionheart, you will receive an email from Dataplan/E-Payslips asking you to set up an account where you will be able to access payslips.

IT

On joining Lionheart, you will have an IT induction where you will be given access details to login to computer equipment. Your login will work on any computer.

WATERPROOF COAT

If you undertake breaktime duties outside, or spend a reasonable amount of time outdoors in your job, you may request a complimentary Lionheart branded coat. These are distributed on your school site - ask your line manager for further details.

POLICIES

All policies can be found on the L: Drive and we recommend you read and familiarise yourself with them.

HEART AWARDS

Lionheart’s award scheme encourages employees to nominate colleagues across the Trust, where recognition is deserved for professional, pupil-centred or positive behaviours. Nominations are quick and easy to make, with the Heart Awards form found on Beehive in the forms section. Nominations close on 1st May 2026.

AS A THANK YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION, WE ARE PLEASED TO OFFER STAFF A FANTASTIC PACKAGE OF BENEFITS.
