Dreamland is more than a showroom it is a destination where expertise, heritage, and refined taste converge. As we celebrate Sealy’s award-winning achievements and our own national recognition, we warmly invite you to visit us and discover why Dreamland continues to be one of the most celebrated names in British bed retailing. Here, every detail is considered, and your comfort is our craft.
At Dreamland, our reputation has been shaped by a steadfast devotion to comfort, craftsmanship, and the kind of service that feels both expertly informed and distinctly personal. This philosophy has secured our position as one of Britain’s most esteemed independent bed retailers, an honour reflected in the national recognition we continue to receive. Most recently, we were shortlisted for the Independent Retailer of the Year 2026 at the Furniture Excellence Awards, a distinction celebrating retailers who demonstrate innovation, resilience, and an exceptional bond with their local community. To be considered for such a prestigious accolade is a profound testament to the standards we uphold every day.
This season, we are proud to place a particular spotlight on Sealy, one of the world’s most distinguished names in sleep technology. Renowned for combining scientific research with meticulous engineering, Sealy creates mattresses that deliver a rare harmony of support, durability, and luxurious comfort. Their celebrated Posturepedic technology, devised in collaboration with orthopaedic specialists, ensures targeted support precisely where the body needs it most. Every mattress is the result of extensive testing, refined craftsmanship, and a commitment to enhancing the quality of rest through evidenceled design.
Among Sealy’s achievements, one stands out with particular distinction: the Sealy Edison, honoured as Bed of the Year. This award recognises not only outstanding construction and design, but also the exceptional performance and restorative comfort that have made the Edison a favourite among discerning sleepers. During our in-depth exploration of the latest Sealy collections, our team witnessed first-hand the level of innovation and artistry that define this award -winning model. It is perhaps the greatest endorsement that several of our own staff individuals who encounter the finest mattresses daily have chosen Sealy for their own homes.
from the rise of teal interiors to the continuation of red colour schemes, 2026 is set to be a colour-confident year, favouring bold yet soothing shades that celebrate the mood-boosting power of colour.
• Warm neutrals: Soft creams, butterscotchtinged beiges, honeyed whites - ideal for a calm, timeless backdrop.
• Earthy browns and clay tones: think muted terracottas, “sunbaked clay” and neutral clay-inspired paints. these bring a grounded, natural feel that works especially well with timber, stone, or rustic decor.
• Natural greens: Herbal/mossy toneslike eucalyptus, olive, laurel, and muted earthy greens are becoming the new neutral. Great for kitchens, living rooms or any space you want to feel connected to nature.
Why this works: there’s growing interest in interiors that feel restorative, calm, and connected to the natural world, a response to
busy lives and a desire for home to feel like a sanctuary.
• deep reds and burgundies: Wine-toned reds, berry hues and aubergine are trending for 2026, they add warmth and intimacy, great for dining rooms, bedrooms or feature walls.
• moody blues and “tech noir” tones: from dusky sky-blues to deep inky blues (sometimes with green or charcoal undertones), these shades bring sophistication and calm.
• dusky jewel tones and plums: rich purples or plummy shades — think dusky or smoky rather than vibrant — are becoming popular as an alternative to classic greys or blacks.
• Charcoal, deep browns & espresso tones: dark, near-black hues with warm undertones give a dramatic, enveloping feel, perfect for accent walls, panelling or compact rooms that benefit from cosy depth.
Our Home
• Sunset corals & muted terracottas: Warm reds with a hint of orange or coral, and clay-inspired terracotta tones are picking up popularity, especially as accent colours that add character without overwhelming.
Why this works: As people look to personalise their spaces rather than go for generic minimalism, these colours help interiors feel intentional, moody and emotionally rich.
Soft blues & “cloudy pastels”: Gentle pastelblues, muted mint, soft lavender haze calm, airy shades for bedrooms, bathrooms, or spaces that benefit from tranquillity.
• Warm greys, creamy whites & “honeyed neutrals”: Subtle neutrals remain relevant, but now they lean warm rather than stark or cold. Great when you want a clean base that isn’t bland.
• Muted rose & soft pink-toned neutrals: rather than bright or vivid pinks, more gentle rose-tinged neutrals are trending, soft and comforting without being overly sweet.
Why this works: Not everyone wants bold statement walls many are seeking serenity, balance and timeless elegance in their décor. these colours support that mood while still offering subtle personality.

my top tips of choosing a new colour:
Choosing a new paint colour for your room can feel overwhelming, but a few smart steps make it much easier. Here are practical tips to help you pick the right colour and shade for your space.
1. G ET INSPIRED AND Coll ECT IDEAS
• Home décor magazines or Pinterest boards
• model homes, hotel rooms, or showrooms

• Save photos of rooms you like you’ll begin to see patterns in the colours and styles that attract you.
• living room: welcoming warm neutrals, soft terracotta, greige
• Office: focus cool blues, soft greys
• dining area: cosy or energetic deep greens, wine reds, warm earth tones
Colour influences how you feel in the room.

Neutrals aren’t boring:

Clearer hearing For the year ahead
Christmas has come and gone but for some it may have been a really tricky time just because they struggled to hear and engage with others as they had hoped.
Holiday conversations often involve overlapping voices, fast topic changes, and group chats, which are some of the most challenging listening situations for anyone. Combine this with family meals, kids playing, music, cooking sounds, which create ambient noise that makes speech harder to pick out, especially if you already have even a mild hearing loss
if this was you or a loved one, it may be time to have those ears checked for frEE by our professional hearing care team and let us help you hear those all-important sounds of life in 2026. it may be as simple as having your ears cleared of ear wax or trying out a brand new hearing solution you didn’t know about. Better hearing should be and can be simple.
did you know ears not only help you hear, but also aid balance? Studies have shown that there is a link between age-related hearing loss and an increased risk of mobility-related problems including walking difficulties, slower gait speed, loss of balance, and falls. Older adults, with hearing loss, are 3 times more likely to stumble or fall than those with good hearing. falls can have an impact on our physical and mental health with pain, distress, and the loss of both confidence and independence occurring as a result. We know there are other factors that could increase the chance of a fall but improving someone’s hearing can really help reduce the risk.
At any of our ‘Hear in’ clinics we can help by offering both ear wax removal and frEE
hearing assessments where you will be given the best possible independent advice without any pressure.
We are a local, family business and pride ourselves on our excellent, professional service in clinic facilities are second to none. Our hearing aid solutions come with a 60-day money back guarantee, up to 5 yr warranty and comprehensive aftercare for the life of the hearing aids. there’s nothing to lose by trying, and we will support you every step of the way.
We are lucky to be able to make a difference to peoples listening lives every single day. Ears are what we love, and what we do! Why not get in touch and start this New year with new ears!

Winter Weddings
there is nothing more romantic than a winter wedding: snow on the ground, frost in the air and tree bowers dripping with frozen crystals, while inside is warm and cosy with glowing open fires, twinkling candlelight and winter foliage.
Winter used to be considered the “off season”, but venues have now wised up to the fact that it is a popular time of year to marry. that means prices can be the same as peak season, especially the week between Christmas and New year. So if you’re planning a winter wedding, it’s best to embrace the season and use what is readily available to you.
Make sure your venue works in the winter
if you are planning a winter wedding, it’s important to view the venue in the winter to see how it works in the colder months. if you are attracted to venues that offer open fires with large ornate fireplaces to enhance the wintery theme, remember to ask the venue manager when you are viewing if the fires are working and can be lit. i t’s also worth checking to see if you can have candles as many venues do not allow naked flames. (if you’re not allowed, don’t worry, use storm lanterns, which, when wreathed in winter foliage, look just the part.)
When booking the venue, take care to avoid any cold-weather mishaps. make sure that your guests can actually get to the venue and that there is sufficient parking.
if your wedding or reception is in a remote area, leave enough time in the schedule for people to get to the destination, just in case bad weather slows them down. it might be worth having your ceremony and reception at the same venue, to save your guests from additional travels if there is bad weather.
Check with the venue to make sure that there is sufficient matting at the entrance point, so that guests can wipe their shoes and not tread slushy footprints inside, and try to book somewhere that has plenty of space between the main entrance and the access to the reception room. that way, you’ll keep the reception area toasty and warm.
A cloakroom (and if possible a cloak room attendant) is also important, so that guests can leave their belongings, such as heavy coats and scarves, safely.
Hotels will have sufficient heating, but it is worth checking to see if venues such as marquees or church halls have heating in place. Conversely, when the disco starts up it can get hot and sticky, so check with the venue manager to see if the heating can be reduced in that particular area.
Decoration
there are plenty of ways to decorate your venue to create a warm and cosy atmosphere. With the sun setting early in the winter months, candles and crystals add to wintery
romance to any setting. to add to the ambience, consider bringing in lush, soft textures: deep red, velvety roses set among dark green foliage, such as holly (especially with the red berries), will add a touch of luxury to the setting. Enhance this with wide velvet ribbon that you can tie around napkins or centrepieces. you could even tie the ribbon to the chairs and hang themed decorations, such a wooden hearts or crystal snowflakes.
what to wear
if ever there was an excuse to use vibrant colours, such as forest greens, deep crimsons and brilliant whites, then certainly winter is the season to do it. you can also use heavier fabrics – velvet or sensual silk satins – or if you prefer lace, a heavier variety such as Battenberg lace is more substantial and will keep you warmer. the best part of winter wedding fashion is that you can indulge in luxurious full skirts without the fear of getting too hot or weighed down with the extra fabric. Choose a style of dress that has sleeves for extra protection and warmth – ¾ sleeves in particular can look very feminine
accessories
if you still want to wear a shoulder-baring strapless gown or slinky sheath, think
Our Weddings
carefully about your accessories. you will need to keep warm and you certainly want to avoid shivering your way through your photography session. Enveloping yourself in a stole, warm shawl or cashmere wrap will add heaps of charm and keep you toasty. look to the more substantial fabrics, such as velvet or faux fur, to complement your gown and embellish your winter wonderland look.
Choose shoes carefully. Go for a close-toed style (strappy heels could be hazardous if there is snow) as there might be ice – or even worse – slush on the ground. A pair of white boots that will peep out from under you dress could also work – it will ensure you are sure footed, but you could always change into heels once you are safely at the reception venue. if snow is forecast, buy a pair of white snow boots that you can change in and out of to travel between venues - fun for the photographs, too!
Add gloves for a touch of Hollywood glamour and choose a colour that complements your flowers or theme. Perhaps dress your groom in a slick suit and add a scarf in the same colour as your gloves to match the wedding colour theme.
winter treats
Winter weddings give you the opportunity to serve your guests something different and seasonal. Serve an alternative reception drink, such as mulled wine served with mini mince pie or Winter Pimms with gingerbread men. Or, for sheer decadence, serve a white hot chocolate with marshmallow dips.
for the favours, choose pots of homemade hedgerow jam or jars of chutney or pickle. Alternatively, bag up snowflake shortbread biscuits piped in white icing and tied with a ribbon in your wedding colours. With careful planning, you can enjoy all the usual wedding traditions bundled up in a festive winter theme.
From loCkdoWn hobby to thriving business: Cheshire gardener turns youtube Passion into global suCCess
When lockdown struck and income streams disappeared, Cheshire resident mark rowlands, 58, decided to pick up his camera and share his love for gardening and diy with the world. “When i started the channel during lockdown, it was just me sharing what i love,” says mark. “i never imagined it would grow into something
that could actually support me and connect me with so many like-minded people.”

film reviews by joe jenkinson
THE HISTORY OF SOUND
DIRECTOR: OLIVER HERMANUS
Josh O’Connor and Paul Mescal deliver astonishing chemistry in this sweeping, music-rich romance set against 1917 America. The History of Sound blends aching longing with the thrill of artistic discovery as two young men preserve the nation’s folk traditions and find each other in the process. Lush, tender, and beautifully acted, it’s a soulful journey that lingers long after the final note.
MARTY SUPREME
DIRECTOR: JOSH SAFDIE
Timothée Chalamet is electric in Marty Supreme, a frantic, darkly hilarious Safdie odyssey about a dreamer everyone counts out. Driven by Safdie’s trademark chaos and heart-thumping intensity, it’s a wild trip through ambition, obsession, and the cost of chasing greatness. With Gwyneth Paltrow in a sharp supporting turn, this one’s a breathless ride you won’t forget.
HAMNET
DIRECTOR: CHLOÉ ZHAO
Chloé Zhao brings her signature lyricism to this intimate, emotionally charged portrait of the love that sparked Shakespeare’s most iconic tragedy. Paul Mescal and Jesse Buckley deliver raw, magnetic performances in a film that’s equal parts historical drama and searing relationship story. Hamnet is a visually stunning, deeply human exploration of art, grief, and devotion; an instant awards-season heavyweight.
ANACONDA
DIRECTOR: DEVON HARTLEY
Jack Black and Paul Rudd are an absolute blast in this outrageous action-comedy about two middleaged best friends trying to remake their favorite creature feature, until a real giant anaconda shows up. Anaconda is a joyously unhinged mix of adventure, meta-movie mayhem, and big-hearted buddy energy. Equal parts peril and punchline, it’s the kind of crowdpleasing chaos audiences will eat up.

the allure oF albuFeira
by Rebecca Underwood, Travel Journalist
for those yearning for a taste of tranquillity and relaxation the Algarve welcomes over seven million foreign visitors annually. the temperate climate, long stretches of beautiful golden sandy beaches and an extensive selection of golf courses include the quita do lago, which has hosted the Portuguese Open, features 2000 acres of breathtaking scenery with American standard greens, bunkers and tees and is only 28 kilometres from Albufeira, one of the most popular coastal resorts.
in the 60’s Albufeira emerged as a tourism destination and today it is a well established popular resort. i was keen to learn more and experience the New town and the more sedate lifestyle, which the Old town offers.
On arrival, i checked in at the luxurious W Hotel, located atop southern Portugal’s cliffs on Estrada da Gale, Sesmarias, and only 45 kilometres from faro Airport and a 12 minute walk to Balbina Beach, which is set in a secluded spot and accessible through the meandering trails that cut through the cliffs.
the hotel’s check-in procedures are swift and efficient, my luggage was whisked away and i was escorted to the Extreme WOW Penthouse measuring 485sqm and featuring panoramic views, two spacious bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with a stovetop and oven, a refrigerator, a dish washer and a wide array of kitchenware. Sumptuous furnishings in calming blue hues and soft carpeting ensured that i immediately relaxed. Cocooned on a comfy chair on the terrace, i took in the fabulous view of the setting sun over the briny whilst sipping on a chilled fruit juice and planned my itinerary for the following day.
following a deep and comfortable slumber, a few leisurely laps in the outdoor pool and a hearty breakfast i ventured outside and hailed a taxi for the short ride to the centre of town.
i wandered around the meandering cobble stoned streets and the central square, shaded by a canopy of towering palm trees, and i continued with a leisurely stroll whilst browsing the colourful street stalls and
charming shops, bursting at the seams with leather and suede goods, handmade lace, pottery in dazzling colours, intricately woven baskets, products made of cork and of course gold filigree jewellery. i was easily persuaded to part with a few Euros and feeling like a breather i joined the locals at one of the bustling cafes.
i sampled the pastel de nata, a delicious custard tart, lightly dusted with cinnamon and accompanied by a glass of sweet Jeropiga, which is made with brandy and wine.
ready to continue with my explorations, i headed for the soft golden sands of Praia dos Pescadores (fisherman’s beach), located in front of the Old town, it’s the ideal spot for an afternoon snooze. Praia do túnel, which is accessed through a tunnel between the imposing cliffs is another popular beach. this is the ideal spot to take part in the sport of people watching and the perfect place to view the water babes taking a dip in the ocean and others enjoying para-gliding, water skiing and snorkelling. Succumb to the allure of Albufeira. you won’t be disappointed.

byd atto 3
Another vehicle manufacturer enters in to the hotly contested Suv electric range of vehicles a Company you probably have never heard of, but if you have a phone, tablet or a lap top it is quite probable that the battery is produced by this particular Company, writes Bob Hickman.
Byd, stands for Build your dream. the AttO, 3 if you are looking for something quirky, then this is a vehicle you need to go and have a look at.
it has gimmicks in profusion and an interior that is mind boggling, it has a huge 15” infotainment screen in the centre of the dashboard, but at the press of a button it moves through 45 degrees from landscape to portrait. it took me 5 minutes to find the door handles and then found they were contained within a small speaker on the door. if you are a musician you are going to love the glove boxes on all of the doors, they have 3 guitar strings that are actually tuned and allow you to play a tune!!!
Gimmicks aside if you are in the market place for an electric vehicle then you really need to have a look at this particular derivative. it is bland, doesn’t particularly excite; the interior however is eccentric.
i found plenty of room for the driver and front passenger, the rear seats were more than adequate with plenty leg and headroom and a reasonable size boot to accommodate the luggage.
Byd suggest a range of 261miles but we all take that with a pinch of salt. Sadly, i suffer from range anxiety when i have an electric car and i am always paranoid if i am down to the last half or even a quarter battery capacity. What happens if Great Aunt Enid rings in the middle of the night having an issue and i need to travel the 70 miles to see her, can i get there and more important can i get back at that time of the day. i never really bothered about petrol when i had ½ or ¼ of a tank because i knew i could refuel.
the Byd has a large capacity 60.48kWh battery and can be charged by the mighty 150KWs machines if you can find one. Byd suggest a charging time of about 9 hours on a home charger or 44 minutes on the huge massive ones.
during a week in company with the AttO 3 i managed to achieve 200 miles on a full charge.
the performance was adequate, it was nothing like previous electrics, acceleration was good but it didn’t have that kick in the back, almost rocket like performance that i had experienced previously with electrics. A 0-62 time of 7.2 seconds is not to be scoffed at and a top speed of 99mph is more than adequate. there are 4 modes to the front wheel drive, Eco, Normal, Sport and Snow, i just put it in Eco and found it more than adequate. i did try the Sport to see if it altered the characteristics dramatically and yes it did a little, but nothing out of this world.
One particular feature that was brilliant
is the graphics on the screen, the satellite navigation was superb, it was easy and the voice reminded you when you were close to a school zone and more importantly tipped you off in plenty of time for the dreaded speed or red lights cameras, a very, useful feature. A wireless phone charging pad is included.
it is gratifying to note that the AttO 3 has gained a 5* safety rating.
Without doubt the Byd range are on a roll and it is interesting that in the first quarter of 2025, Byd sold more cars than in the whole of 2024.
the Byd AttO 3 has a recommended price starting at £37,705, my particular top of the range design model was on the road at £39,705.
Byd are confident in their products and give a warranty for the battery of 8 years or 125,000 miles this should give peace of mind to the purchaser, and allay concerns as to the longevity of the battery.

Our finance & legal budget round-uP: What you need to knoW
After weeks of gloomy predictions about this being “the worst Budget in years,” the Autumn Budget turned out to be far less dramatic than feared. yes, there are freezes and a few tax rises, but overall, the tone was steady rather than severe. Here’s a quick roundup of the points most likely to affect you:
Income Tax - the main tax thresholds will stay frozen until April 2031. this ongoing freeze creates “fiscal drag,” pulling more people into higher tax bands as incomes rise.
Dividend, Savings & Property Income - a trio of increases:
• dividend tax rises by 2% from April 2026.
• Savings income tax rises to 22%, 42% and 47% from April 2027.
• Property income gets its own rates (22%, 42%, 47%) from April 2027. these changes make tax free wrappers like iSAs even more valuable.
National Insurance - no rate changes, but thresholds stay frozen until 2031.
Capital Gains Tax - no changes to CGt rates, exemptions or the uplift on death.
Inheritance Tax - iHt thresholds remain
frozen until 2031. Gifting rules are unchanged so gifts remain one of the most powerful iHt planning tools. Agricultural & Business Property relief allowances will be transferable between spouses from 2026.
ISAs - from April 2027, Cash iSA limit will be £12,000 and the total iSA limit: £20,000. A new home-buying iSA is being consulted on for 2026.
Pensions – pension allowances were untouched. from April 2029, only the first £2,000 of salary-sacrificed pension contributions will receive NiC relief. triple lock stays; State Pension rises 4.8% in April 2026.
o ther Headlines - New council tax surcharge on homes worth £2m+ from 2028.
With frozen thresholds quietly increasing the tax take over time, it is more important than ever that you are on top of your planning to maximise tax efficiency wherever possible. i can help you!
