s you cross the Long Bridge into Sandpoint, you will quickly discover why this quaint town has been recognized as the most beautiful small town in America. For more than three decades, the Festival at Sandpoint, which takes place each August, has brought thousands to War Memorial Field to enjoy eight nights of music. With names such as Ziggy Marley, Ben Harper, The Avett Brother, Counting Crows and Kenny Loggins, the organizers of this event bring a vast array of talent to this town to the delight of many. Schweitzer Mountain Resort is a year-round playground and offers several opportunities to go downhill skiing or boarding, tubing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. Summertime brings a chance for mountain biking, huckleberry picking and enjoying a cold beer on a sunny deck. When you leave Schweitzer, you will want to be sure and make Sweet Lou’s in Ponderay one of your stops. A sports bar and restaurant with multiple TVs, Sweet Lou’s offers something for the entire family. Sandpoint also offers an opportunity to enjoy some fine wine and craft beer at Sandpoint’s newest wine bar, The Back Door.
