INTERIOR MEETS EXTERIOR

Combing your favorite cozy exterior elements with your interior makes for a beautiful, natural space

In the ever-evolving world of interior design, a captivating trend has emerged—bringing the allure of the exterior indoors. As homeowners seek to create spaces that seamlessly blend with the natural world, a palette of exterior elements finds its place within the sanctuary of our homes. Natural stones, with their timeless elegance, are no longer confined to outdoor spaces; they grace our living rooms and kitchens, infusing a sense of organic luxury. Mixed woods, reminiscent of sprawling forests, now find a home in our bedrooms, creating warmth and character.

Greenery, once confined to gardens, introduces a breath of fresh air within our living spaces, promoting not just aesthetic appeal but also a connection with nature. The industrial charm, once associated with outdoor architecture, now defines chic urban interiors, embracing the raw beauty of exposed materials. Molding, a hallmark of exterior detailing, now adorns our interiors, adding sophistication and depth.

Natural tones and colors, inspired by earth’s palette, dominate modern interiors, fostering a sense of tranquility and serenity. This convergence of exterior aesthetics with interior design reflects a desire to create harmonious spaces that reflect the beauty of the natural world within the confines of our homes. Join us on a journey where the boundaries between inside and outside blur, and the elements of nature become integral parts of our domestic landscapes.

natural stones

Embarking on a journey to bring the outdoors inside, the timeless allure of natural stone emerges as a focal point in contemporary interior design. Beyond its traditional outdoor role, natural stone, with its unique textures and hues, now graces our indoor living spaces, adding a touch of organic sophistication. Whether adorning countertops, accent walls, or flooring, the sheer versatility of natural stone introduces a tactile and visual richness that transcends conventional design boundaries. From the rugged charm of slate to the elegant veins of marble, each stone variety tells a story of earth’s artistry. Its cooling properties also make it a practical choice for spaces seeking thermal equilibrium. The integration of natural stone seamlessly connects our interiors with the tranquility and timelessness of the natural world, creating a harmonious sanctuary within the confines of our homes.

bring the elements indoors

Bringing a firepit table indoors ingeniously merges the allure of outdoor living with the comfort of your indoor space. This innovative feature introduces a unique, cozy ambiance reminiscent of starry nights around a campfire. It becomes a focal point for social gatherings, offering the warmth and charm of an outdoor firepit with the convenience and safety of indoor settings.

Designed to be smokeless and suitable for indoor use, these tables enhance the room’s aesthetic while providing a novel entertainment element. They perfectly blend the rustic feel of outdoor adventures with the sophistication of modern living, creating an inviting, multifunctional space for relaxation and socializing.

COOL TONES

Transform your indoor haven by embracing cool tones — serene blues, tranquil greens and soothing grays. These hues effortlessly evoke a sense of calm, making your living space a haven of relaxation. From accent walls to furnishings, incorporating cool tones adds a touch of sophistication and modernity. Elevate your interior ambiance with this refreshing color palette, creating a sanctuary that reflects tranquility and style.

green green green

Breathe life into your indoor spaces by embracing the invigorating presence of greenery. Beyond traditional outdoor realms, plants and foliage have become essential interior design elements, infusing homes with natural vitality. Whether it’s cascading vines, statement potted plants or a lush indoor garden, incorporating greenery adds a touch of biophilic beauty.

Not only do these living accents purify the air, but they also contribute to a sense of well-being and tranquility. The dynamic interplay of textures and shades of green creates visual interest, transforming your living space into a verdant oasis. Embrace the trend of biophilic design and let nature flourish indoors, fostering a connection to the outdoors within the comfort of your home

INDUSTRIAL

Infuse urban flair into your indoor living space by incorporating industrial elements. Exposed brick, steel and concrete bring raw, edgy charm, creating a contemporary ambiance. Utilize metal fixtures, pendant lights and reclaimed materials to amplify the industrial aesthetic. This design trend not only adds a touch of urban sophistication but also celebrates the beauty found in the unconventional, transforming your home into a stylish and eclectic haven.

Envelop your living space in the organic comfort of natural fibers. Woven baskets, jute rugs and textured accessories bring the essence of the outdoors inside, adding an earthy and tactile quality. These elements not only infuse warmth but also connect your home to the natural world. Choose natural fibers for a touch of relaxed elegance, creating an interior ambiance that mirrors the serenity and authenticity of nature.

Exteriors by Aspen: Your boutique exterior remodeling company

Carter Coleman has always been drawn to architectural design and construction. Starting in 2001 as a hands-on whole-house remodeler, he eventually moved on to specializing in custom home building in the Dallas/Forth Worth area. In 2008, due to the market crash, Carter found himself having to rework his business, and in 2012 he took a job with James Hardie — the largest fiber cement siding manufacturing company in the US — which would take him, wife Ashleigh, and two young sons from the heat of Texas to the heart of the Inland Northwest.

With James Hardie, Carter worked as a regional installation, technical sales and sales representative for six years, during which time he trained architects, builders and installation crews on how to properly install their siding products. With his territory covering Western Montana to the Cascades, extending up into Canada and down into Denver, the travel was taking a toll on him and his family.

After learning the technical side and invaluable knowledge from the James Hardie organization — by attending and leading installation workshops from coast to coast — Carter realized there were a lot of “gaps” in the market and areas that could be capitalized upon to deliver a better overall experience for homeowners. In 2015, Carter and Ashleigh decided to relaunch their Texas building company, this time specializing in exteriors, and opened Exteriors by Aspen.

COEUR D’ALENE LIVING LOCAL january/february 2024 34
34

Carter transferred over not only his business name of Aspen into Exteriors by Aspen, but also his building ethics of overseeing each project from start to finish with the homeowner. “Before embarking on any project, there’s the initial site visit,” Carter explains, “which can be as short as 20 minutes to as long as the client needs to feel comfortable, allowing them the opportunity to ask as many questions as needed — and get those questions answered.” Carter personally takes phone calls, as well as measures each home with state-of-the art 3D imaging software. This advanced tool allows homeowners to really get a feel for how the house will look when finished. Through this software, Carter has the ability to completely change the façade, as it allows the client to change the look of the entire home with a few clicks of the mouse. Carter’s ‘Good, Better, Best’ bid system is custom tailored to each unique home and is highly detailed, outlining the scope of the project clearly and succinctly for three distinct price points; far from an ambiguous text message or a set of impersonal boxes on a production checklist that have been the norm around here for too long.

Serving Spokane and North Idaho, Exteriors by Aspen offers an array of siding products including: fiber cement siding (James Hardie ColorPlus), all vinyl products, windows and doors, composite and wood decking, natural and cultured stone and stucco, all types of roofing, and installation of rigid foam insulation or blow-in cellulose.

Aspen’s true specialization is in James Hardie pre-painted ColorPlus fiber cement. “We proudly offer the best products because it’s what home owners desire to revitalize their most important investment,” Carter affirms. With more than 700 curated James Hardie Colors to choose from, Carter ensures that all accessories including trim, shingles, board and batten, soffits, touch-up paint and caulking is color-matched for fade resistance, as well as performance and durability. “If the ColorPlus doesn’t align with your budget or unique situation, I’ll be the first to tell you why and what we can do differently. Also, we don’t treat your home as ‘builder grade,’ because you don’t see it that way. Homeowners desire low-maintenance products that deliver performance and durability that can not only stand up to our harsh climatic variables, but also the test of time. Other siding companies deliver what’s easiest and fastest for them to install … not what’s best for the homeowner.”

Knowledge of the industry and his relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and manufacturer reps in the region is what truly sets Carter apart from the competition. Combined with his unparalleled knowledge of James Hardie siding manufacturing and installation, his clients can expect nothing less than superior quality and excellent service.

Carter is proud of the business he has built alongside Ashleigh, adding, “I really like seeing the old become new again and seeing the owner’s satisfaction during and after the projects. When we’re done with the house, you’re done with the house — no need to wait on painters or anyone else. We take care of everything; from new exhaust vents, to house address numbers, right down to installing a new doorbell! ”

Three ways to spruce up your home garden

As the days lengthen and nature awakens, our yearning for the great outdoors becomes undeniable. The backyard, often relegated to the outskirts of our attention, is now poised to emerge as the star attraction in the upcoming spring season. Through a series of simple yet transformative tips and tricks, your outdoor space can evolve into a sanctuary of unparalleled comfort and relaxation, beckoning you to revel in the warmer months to come.

Begin by contemplating the furniture as the linchpin of your backyard comfort. Opt for pieces that seamlessly blend style with durability, prioritizing materials like teak, aluminum or resilient wicker. Coupled with plush cushions adorned in vibrant hues, these elements not only cater to your aesthetic sensibilities but also withstand the capricious whims of weather. Imagine sinking into a sumptuous sofa or reclining in chairs that entice you to surrender to relaxation.

To cultivate intimacy within your outdoor haven, strategically arrange your seating. By bringing chairs and sofas into close proximity, you create an inviting space conducive to conversation and communal moments. Picture a hammock gently swaying, or a hanging chair inviting whimsy — these thoughtful arrangements morph your backyard into a constellation of personal retreats within a broader canvas.

As spring ushers in warmer days and balmy evenings, consider making al fresco dining a central feature of your outdoor space. Invest in a sturdy dining set that

transforms meals into experiences, surrounded by the embrace of nature. Enhance the ambiance with string lights or lanterns suspended above, casting a warm glow over your dining area. Outdoor pillows on dining chairs not only amplify comfort but also fashion a cozy alcove for culinary delights.

Greenery serves as the brushstroke that paints your outdoor haven with life. Potted plants, hanging baskets and bursts of vibrant flowers tantalize the eye and contribute to a calming ambiance. Thoughtfully

CAMP JOURNEY NW PROVIDES MEDICALLY SUPERVISED CAMP EXPERIENCES FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILY TOUCHED BY CANCER by

“Our campers truly just want to be a kid for the week,” shares Belinda Jacobsen, executive director at Camp Journey NW. “They come to our camp because they often can’t go to traditional camps due to their specific needs.”

Camp Journey NW is a medically supervised camp for children, aged 5 through 17, living with cancer. Campers can bring a sibling or buddy of their choosing to join them.

“Our caring, compassionate and trained team offers a fun, customized age-appropriate program in a safe environment,” Belinda shares. Every camp is designed to make it possible for

those experiencing childhood cancer to experience “just being a kid” through a nurturing, worry-free, immersive experience.

In 2024, they will offer three camps: Overnight, Day Camp, and Family Camp. For every event, local oncology physicians and nurses are on-site around the clock, volunteering their time and services. Belinda says all of the camp’s medical volunteers come from Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, keeping Camp Journey NW at the forefront of pediatric oncology.

In a setting designed to meet campers’ needs, the Camp Journey NW environment encourages the confidence and self-reliance in its participants, “which often get lost in their struggle with

the disease,” Belinda says. “The accompanying siblings and friends return home from the experience with new abilities to nurture and help others that they can use for a lifetime.”

Camp Journey NW is located at Ross Point Camp and Conference Center in Post Falls, along the Spokane River.

“Ross Point’s facility is beautiful, and they accommodate all of our campers’ needs,” Belinda shares. “As a medical camp, we also need to be within 45 minutes of Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, per our medical director’s requirements.”

Community funding provides campers with housing, meals and camp activities.

In the summer of 2023, Camp Journey NW saw approximately 50 campers participate. “At our largest in 2019, we had 134 campers and 90 volunteers,” Belinda remembers. “We anticipate 50-plus campers and 70 volunteers in 2024, but hope to return to 100 campers in the future.”

She goes on to share, “Our camp population is only different because they are touched by cancer, but so are many others in their communities. To build community, you need to foster the children that are our future. Our campers need to have an outlet just like any other child. They want to be normal, if only for a week.”

While the local community has always been very supportive, Belinda says Camp Journey NW is constantly looking for fundraising and donor opportunities to fund its camps. “We never charge our campers or their families for our camp — they have too many financial burdens already!”

Their hope is that this year will bring a donation that could allow them to create an endowment that would sustain the camp for years to come.

Above all, Camp Journey NW hopes to provide its campers with the chance to feel hope. Offering a break from worry about their diagnosis “helps them become better fighters of their own battle and eventually better citizens of their community.”

A New Safe Haven

CHILDREN’S VILLAGE’S NEW FAMILY SUPPORT CENTER CREATES A MULTI-FACETED RESOURCE CENTER FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES ACROSS NORTH IDAHO

The Children's Village is "a trauma-responsive safe haven, restoring trust and hope for children and families who experience abuse, neglect, or are in crisis,” says Vanessa Moos, CEO. “Our newest Family Support Center is just that – responsive to what our community needs.”

Vanessa says the 5,000-square-foot Family Support Center, located on West Hanley in Coeur d'Alene, will allow multiple agencies to assist families in crisis through community-based private case management and support centralization.

"Funded entirely through one grant from the Idaho Department

of Juvenile Corrections, Children’s Village is honored to be one of eight recipients of this funding in Idaho," Vanessa says. Its vision: compassionate communities where every child is safe, secure and nurtured in a stable and loving family.

The Children's Village has spent years "aggressively adapting to the changing needs of North Idaho,” Vanessa affirms. “Our prior work as a children's shelter home was successful, but our 34 years in operation allowed us to see that our assistance was not breaking the cycle of generational poverty.” This was recognized when parents who once lived in Children’s Village homes as children then needed to place their own sons and daughters into its care.

In 2021, Children’s Village was approached by Kootenai County law enforcement partners to collaborate for better youth and family support services for North Idaho.

"After board approval, we applied for and received $1.5 million in funding to construct this facility on our 14 acres of debt-free land in central Coeur d’Alene," Vanessa shares. "In 2022, additional funding was received for $600,000, amounting to a total of $2.1 million to construct the building. Stancraft Construction Group worked with all the construction agencies to secure hundreds of thousands of dollars of in-kind support to make this project happen within the grant budget."

Vanessa explained there is currently no multi-agency resource center in the district to pull together the resources of both law enforcement and social service agencies.

"By creating the Family Resource Center, the Student Resource Officer can be a juvenile’s first point of contact and have an opportunity to immediately refer them to the Family Resource Center, where a case can be actively managed outside of the judicial system," she says. "By assessing the teen for risk factors, a case manager at the Family Resource Center can successfully enhance the five pillars for successful outcome of justice-involved juveniles, which according to the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections strategic plan include family engagement, skills building, counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy and education."

To accomplish this and achieve the mission created by its founders, Children’s Village is actively engaged in a capital campaign to build a boys’ home for at-risk male youth in North Idaho.

"With a future boys’ home, Children’s Village will be able to support children from the day of their birth into adulthood, as well as their families whether biological, foster or adoptive," Vanessa says.

She adds that being an independent nonprofit organization provides the Children's Village with freedom to move and change within the community but also creates scary funding constraints.

"Without a national or even statewide umbrella over us, we have to raise over $1 million annually in order to keep our doors open," she shares. "Any amount of support, through donations of food or gift cards, through small or even large third-party events and fundraising, all of this helps us to serve our community in every way possible. We thank our donors and supporters for believing in us."

Vanessa encourages the community to please consider supporting the Children's Village in their worthy efforts through time, talent and treasure. To learn more, visit TheChildrensVillage.org.

Put your trust in Coeur Window Coverings to execute your vision

Coeur Window Coverings has been serving North Idaho communities for the past two-and-a-half years, with owners Daniel White, president, and Matthew Guerrero, vice president, bringing years of experience to their business and clients.

Dan grew up in Post Falls, with the abundance of skiing, hiking, lakes and rivers keeping him here. He began installing blinds for the family business in 2007, while in high school, and during the summers while in college attending North Idaho College and Eastern Washington University. He went on to pursue a career in chemistry for six years, though he continued to help install window coverings for his parents’ business in his free time. “During this time, I realized that I enjoyed being a part of the interior design process and that I enjoyed running a business more than I did working the lab,” Dan recalls.

Matt first moved to North Idaho in 1972. He went on to spend eight years in Boise and two years in North Dakota. Though he always had an interest in architecture and design, he set off on a 30-year journey of transportation, warehouse logistics and oilfield operations. It was during his time working in the oilfields of North Dakota that he decided to go back to school and complete his Bachelor of Science degree in science and business. When the oilfield collapsed in 2014-2015, Matt returned to his hometown of Post Falls in 2016, “where I belong,” met up with Dan and offered to help with some installations. “It rekindled that fascination with architecture and design with all of the growth in our area,” Matt remembers.

Dan goes on to add, “Matt felt the industry calling when one of our clients had tears of joy as we completed the job on their dream home perfectly. Matt brings contrast to the team and offers a different view to the normal.”

Together, they opened Coeur Window Coverings in August of 2021. A full-service window covering retailer serving North Idaho communities, they curate the best window coverings from several industryleading brands for blinds, shades, shutters and drapes, as well as exterior patio shades. Offering professional installations, the owners take pride in staying on top of the latest trends and technology in the window covering industry.

Though window coverings vary with home design, décor and location, for 2024, Matt and Dan believe the most popular type of window covering will be with motorization, with Matt adding, “Motorization has really turned the corner through affordability, convenience, smart home technology, and innovation.”

When asked what they find most rewarding about the work they do through Coeur Window Coverings, Dan smiles, “All of it! But, when you focus down to the final detail when the client says, ‘It’s perfect!’ or ‘This is exactly what Team Coeur promised me and I love it!’ makes it all worth it.”

After noticing an increase of clicks for directions to see a physical showroom, Dan and Matt agreed the time had come to bring an inspiring small showroom to the area (with plans to eventually build the ultimate showroom experience for the community). The pair is excited to share that they took over the lease for their first brick-and-mortar store in February. The combined offices, receiving area and showroom is a combined 1,500 square feet. “Our goal with this space is to prompt our customers’ imagination as to what is possible to update their homes with window coverings,” shares Matt. “We will display all the newest styles, showcase home automation capabilities of window coverings, and create a space that inspires.”

The showroom will allow designers and builders whom Coeur Window Coverings works with to bring their clients and plan out the window covering side of their projects. But ultimately, Dan and Matt hope to educate builders and their clients on the benefit of prewiring their homes for current or future motorized window coverings.

Their Grand Opening is planned for April! Be sure to follow Coeur Window Coverings’ Instagram page @coeurwindowcoverings for updates as the event nears.

For those looking to update the look of the interior of their home with custom window coverings with a company that cares about relationships, Dan and Matt will be there each step of the way to execute your vision with honesty, communication and superior customer service.

im and Kelley Hobart began the next, exciting chapter in their life 14 years ago. Inspired by the beauty of North Idaho, the abundance of outdoor opportunities and the friendly people, they moved into their custom home in Hayden in 2010.

Everything was more beautiful than they had imagined it could be, except the epoxy flooring in the garage; after only a few years, it had faded, chipped and peeled up in the areas where they parked their cars. “I looked for solutions and was told I would need to have it professionally ground off, and then they would re-apply a new epoxy floor,” recalls Jim. “I didn’t want to repeat using epoxy only to get the same results a few years later.”

He and Kelley discovered the Penntek flooring system while visiting a relative — who raved about it! Jim decided to reach out to the manufacturer and discovered that no one was offering their flooring system alternative to epoxy in North Idaho or Spokane. This inspired the Hobarts to change that. They introduced Croc Coatings in 2020, bringing this revolutionary flooring system to the area so that others could have a new choice with premium flooring solutions. Since that time, they have installed over 1,000 Croc floors for local residents and businesses.

“We started the business with a mission to provide extraordinary floors and service and have grown as a result of delivering on this promise,”

RFLook and Feel Younger with RF Microneedling at Pure Medical Spa

Unlock the fountain of youth with our proven, safe procedure

microneedling is a revolutionary treatment that helps improve skin texture and tone, fight signs of aging, reduce wrinkles, and stimulate the production of collagen. It’s a safe and effective procedure with minimal downtime that can help you look and feel younger.

At Pure Medical Spa, we strive to provide our clients with the best aesthetic treatments available. That’s why we offer radiofrequency (RF) microneedling as one of our signature services. RF microneedling is a cutting-edge treatment that helps to target and repair skin imperfections caused by aging, sun damage, acne, and more.

RF microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that uses fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. The heat from the radiofrequency energy generated by these needles goes deep below the surface of the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production. This promotes healing, reduces wrinkles and scars, tightens skin, and improves texture.

The procedure is quite simple — we apply a topical anesthetic to the area being treated before beginning the treatment. Then, our expert medical team will carefully insert tiny needles into the skin. Each puncture penetrates just deep enough to stimulate collagen without damaging the epidermis. The procedure lasts approximately 30 to 45 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated.

The benefits of RF microneedling far outweigh any possible risks or side effects. The procedure is not only safe and minimally invasive, but it’s also extremely effective at reducing wrinkles, scars, acne and other skin imperfections. It also helps to tighten skin, reduce age spots and dark circles, and improves overall texture. Best of all,

there’s very little downtime associated with the procedure so you can get back to your daily routine right away.

RF microneedling is ideal for clients who are looking to improve the appearance of their skin without undergoing invasive surgery. It is suitable for all skin types and can be used to address a variety of concerns, making it a versatile treatment option.

One type of ideal client for RF microneedling is someone who wants to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. As we age, our skin naturally loses collagen, which leads to the formation of wrinkles and sagging skin. RF microneedling stimulates collagen production, resulting in smoother and firmer skin.

Another type of ideal client for RF microneedling is someone who wants to improve the overall texture and tone of their skin. This treatment can help reduce the appearance of acne scars, stretch marks and hyperpigmentation. RF microneedling is also a great option for clients who are looking to tighten and lift their skin. The radiofrequency energy used during the procedure helps to stimulate collagen production, which in turn leads to tighter and more youthful-looking skin.

It’s important to note that while RF microneedling can provide significant results, it may require multiple sessions depending on your specific concerns and desired outcome.

At Pure Medical Spa, we understand that every client is unique and has different aesthetic needs. That’s why our team of highly trained professionals takes the time to understand each individual’s concerns before recommending a plan of action. We work with you to create an individualized treatment plan that will deliver the results you desire in a safe and comfortable environment.

CRAFTING REGIMENS THAT NOURISH INSIDE OUT

64

In the fast-paced world we find ourselves in, beauty regimens have become more than just a series of skin-care steps or makeup applications. Modern beauty enthusiasts are increasingly embracing a holistic approach that considers not only external appearance but also internal well-being. This paradigm shift toward beauty routines with health at their core is gaining momentum, and for good reason. Let’s delve into the intricacies of these beauty regimens, exploring how they can contribute to both physical allure and overall well-rounded health.

The Fusion of Beauty and Health: A New Paradigm

The days of beauty being solely skin-deep are long gone. Today’s beauty aficionados are recognizing the intimate connection between external radiance and internal vitality. Beauty regimens that incorporate health-conscious elements aim to create a synergy that enhances both aspects simultaneously.

Mindful Skin Care: Nourishing Your Skin’s Inner Glow

The foundation of any beauty routine is skin care, and the shift toward mindful skin care is transforming the industry. Embracing natural ingredients that not only address aesthetic concerns but also nourish the skin from within is becoming a norm. Antioxidant-rich serums, hydrating toners and botanical extracts are gaining popularity for their ability to promote skin health at a cellular level. This mindful approach not only ensures a radiant complexion but also supports the skin’s resilience and longevity.

Nutrient-Rich Diets: The Ultimate Beauty Elixir

True beauty emanates from the inside out, and the role of nutrition in maintaining a healthy appearance cannot be overstated. Beauty regimens that prioritize nutrient-rich diets are becoming increasingly prevalent. Foods rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants are the building blocks of a radiant complexion. From the collagen-boosting properties of vitamin C to the skin-loving benefits of omega-3 fatty acids, a wellrounded diet contributes significantly to the overall health of your skin, hair and nails.

Sustainable Beauty: A Trend with Environmental and Health Benefits

In the quest for beauty and wellness, the environment should not be forgotten. Sustainable beauty regimens are gaining traction, emphasizing eco-friendly products and practices. Choosing clean beauty products not only reduces your exposure to harmful chemicals but also contributes to a healthier planet. The symbiotic relationship between personal health and environmental well-being is a cornerstone of this evolving approach to beauty.

Exercise as a Beauty Ritual: Sculpting Your Body, Nourishing Your Skin

Exercise is a powerful tool that goes beyond sculpting the body. Regular physical activity promotes blood circulation, flushing toxins from the skin and imparting a natural, healthy glow. Additionally, exercise releases endorphins, the body’s natural

Make Your Own Salt Scrub

Making your own salt scrub is both simple and rewarding. Begin with a base of fine Himalayan pink salt or coarser sea salt for exfoliation. Then add a carrier oil such as coconut or almond to moisturize the skin.

Personalize your scrub with essential oils: lavender for soothing, citrus for invigoration. Optional additions like honey or ground coffee can further enhance the scrub’s benefits.

This DIY approach offers a natural, chemical-free skin-care option, tailored to your specific preferences and skin needs.

65

mood enhancers, contributing to a positive mindset that radiates through your appearance. Whether it’s a brisk walk, a yoga session or a high-intensity workout, integrating exercise into your beauty regimen can be transformative.

Customization for Individual Beauty and Health Needs

One size does not fit all, especially when it comes to beauty and health. The evolving landscape of beauty regimens encourages customization based on individual needs and preferences. Tailoring your routine to address specific skin concerns, dietary requirements and lifestyle factors ensures a more personalized and effective approach. Consulting with skin-care professionals, nutritionists and wellness experts can help create a regimen that aligns with your unique beauty and health goals.

Elevating Beauty Through Holistic Health

In the pursuit of beauty, the new paradigm emphasizes the intertwining of external allure and internal vitality. Beauty regimens that prioritize health contribute to a more sustainable and fulfilling approach to personal care. From mindful skin-care routines to nutrient-rich diets, holistic wellness practices and sustainable choices, the possibilities are diverse. By crafting beauty regimens with your health in mind, you not only enhance your physical appearance but also embark on a journey toward holistic well-being. Embrace the transformative power of beauty routines rooted in wellness, and let your radiance shine from the inside out.

Enjoy the Flavors of North Idaho

When the sun graces North Idaho with its warm embrace and clears the skies, it’s an invitation to escape the ordinary and embark on a culinary voyage right here at home. While your neighborhood favorites beckon, consider venturing a little further to uncover the culinary treasures crafted by our local chefs.

Stretching across North Idaho, from Bonners Ferry to Coeur d’Alene and beyond, a wealth of locally owned dining establishments await, accompanied by familiar national chains. Both locals and visitors are treated to a delectable spectrum, ranging from the comfort of homegrown flavors to international tastes that could transport you halfway around the globe.

In this culinary landscape, menus reflect North Idaho’s cultural roots, championing local farmers and purveyors whenever possible. You can savor American classics, Southern comfort, Cajun spice and French finesse, or traverse Italian, Mediterranean, Indian, Chinese and Japanese cuisines. The options are as abundant as they are diverse.

76

Savor the Season

Embrace the spring season by venturing outdoors and exploring the enticing offerings at your favorite restaurant. With the changing seasons, many eateries undergo a menu transformation, shifting from hearty winter fare to lighter, refreshing options that capture the essence of warmer weather.

It’s during the spring season that area farmers markets come alive, with their fresh produce, baked goods, artisan crafts and gifts, and so much more! Making a trip to the farmers market is a fun family affair during the warmer spring days and all summer long.

As spring unfolds, chefs skillfully incorporate fresher ingredients into their creations, presenting dishes that embody the spirit of the season. Discover a culinary journey as menus evolve to showcase the vibrancy of spring flavors.

Local Libations

Pair your meal with a glass of local wine or craft brew, as the region boasts an array of wineries and breweries — many award-winning. Pend d’Oreille Winery, Coeur d’Alene Cellars, Kootenai River Brewing, Mickduff’s Brewing Co., Selkirk Abbey Brewing Company, Paragon Brewing, Mad Bomber Brewing … These are just a sample of all there is out there to explore. Many restaurants take pride in being able to carefully curate their drink lists to incorporate local, showing their unwavering support to other area businesses.

And you can’t forget about a hot cup of coffee to start your day or unwind with after a fantastic meal. With a number of North Idaho coffee roasters — Sprout Coffee Roasters in Hayden, Doma Coffee Roasting Company in Post Falls, Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters in Sandpoint and Lore Coffee Roasters in Bonners Ferry — coffee never tasted so good as when you know the people behind that cup o’ Joe are passionate about what they do.

It’s Time to Take a Seat

Whether your craving leads you to a laid-back, cozy eatery or an opulent fine-dining establishment, your perfect dining destination awaits. Embrace the opportunity to relish the creativity and flavors that define the Inland Northwest. From one-of-a-kind culinary experiences to cherished favorites, our region is a culinary paradise waiting to be discovered.

Show Grace to Restaurant Staff

Whether choosing to dine in, opt for takeout, or place a to-go order, local residents can look forward to an enchanting culinary experience at their favorite neighborhood eateries. Each dish is a testament to the chef’s heartfelt dedication, promising a taste sensation that transcends mere sustenance.

Accompanying these delectable creations is a service provided by a seasoned and devoted staff, despite the prevalent worker shortages affecting many local restaurants. In this challenging environment, patrons are encouraged to extend not only their palates but also their patience and gratitude to those diligently working to ensure every diner embarks on a memorable culinary journey.

Beyond the pleasure of dining, supporting these local establishments becomes a collective investment in community resilience, fostering a vibrant culinary landscape that withstands adversity and continues to enrich the lives of those who call North Idaho home.
