Cora Lee Institute Adulting 101

Life Skills Education ADLT 101: Life Skills Education aims to help young adults and professionals grow as autonomous individuals by teaching them specific skills needed to function and thrive in society as well as coping strategies to manage situations should any complications arise. These skills are necessary to be successful in all facets of life and can be broken down into three groups: Social Skills, Daily Living Skills, and Employability and Professionalism.

Standard I: Social Skills

o SOCS1: Individuals will master social development skills, including: appropriate social behavior for various situations and within various social groups, forming meaningful and reciprocal relationships with others, voting and civil duties, etc.

Standard II: Daily Living Skills o DLS1: Individuals will master and maintain a healthy lifestyle, including: personal hygiene, nutrition, mental health, etc.

o SOCS2: Individuals will master appropriate communication skills, including: rate and volume of speech, appropriate language, eye contact, proper body language, etc.

o DSL2: Individuals will master basic skills necessary for independent living, including: scheduling and time management, budgeting, shopping, cooking, cleaning, medication management, making appointments, etc.

Standard III: Employability and Professionalism o EMPRO1: Individuals will master professional personal characteristics, including: appropriate attitude, respect for others, self-respect, dependability, responsibility, etc. o EMPRO2: Individuals will master basic employability skills, including: work etiquette, basic job skills, resume writing, interview skills, transportation, etc. The curriculum will be tailored to fit the specific needs of each individual and their family (if applicable). The individual will be carefully paired with a licensed Life Skills Professional to help them reach their full potential in a safe environment.
