A Taste of Southlake is returning on Thursday, May 16, this year at the Westin Hotel Dallas Southlake. This event promises that guests will enjoy an exceptional journey of taste, live music and a great time. Best of all, the proceeds from this event will benefit the Tarrant Area Food Bank.
Tarrant Area Food Bank empowers communities to eliminate hunger by providing food, education and resources. Serving as a regional clearinghouse for donated food, the organization provides a nutritious mix of fresh, frozen and shelf-stable products to a network of hunger-relief charities and social services agencies across North Texas, which includes Fort Worth and 13 surrounding counties.
Buying a ticket and attending Taste of Southlake benefits so many people in such great ways. Last year’s event raised enough to feed 5,000 people, making a meaningful difference in the wellbeing of our local communities.
“That’s when you know you’ve made a difference,” says Southlake-based State Farm Insurance agent Vic McLane, who was one of the founding members of this fabulous taste event in 2022.
It all stemmed from an initiative of the Southlake Chamber of Commerce 2021-2022 Leadership Southlake class. For more than 30 years, the Leadership Southlake program has offered a dynamic, fun way for community and civic leaders to learn about Southlake. Part of the Leadership Southlake experience is a community service
project that each year’s class plans and implements as its legacy. What started out as a class project event in 2022 has now turned into A Taste of Southlake Inc., a non-profit organization focused on promoting area restaurants and contributing to local organizations in need. While still in its infancy, Taste of Southlake has already grown stronger and more exciting for 2024.
The Taste of Southlake brings people together, connects them with local eateries that set the Southlake area apart, and allows everyone participating a way to give back to our North Texas communities.
Like other “Taste of” events in other cities, the event highlights wonderful foods.
This year, the lineup of restaurants serving up their specialties includes Alli’s Sweet Shop; Calabrese Italian restaurant; Feedstore BBQ; Ferah Tex-Med Kitchen, specializing in Mediterranean and American fusion cuisine; Jellico’s American restaurant; Kirby’s Prime Steakhouse; Shuck Me Oysters, Shrimp & Fish; Personalized Grazing, specializing in catering and events; Wildwood Grill Southlake; Zafiros Mexican Grill and Cantina; and more.
The event is sponsored this year by Grubbs Family of Auto Dealerships.
The Taste of Southlake’s Executive Board members are Tanya Boyette, Ronak Kothari and Vic McLane.
The Board of Directors includes Paul Alwine, Beth Chernik, Mario Cordova, Ally Gilpin, Diana McWilliams and Daniel Paschke.
Get ready for an unforgettable culinary event and evening of fun celebrating Southlake and surrounding-area restaurants on May 16th

May is National Melanoma Month, created by the American Academy of Dermatology to raise awareness of skin cancer and encourage early detection.
Skin cancer is America’s most common but most preventable cancer. Practicing prevention and self-checks, and seeing your dermatologist regularly, are some of the best ways to protect yourself. Staying diligent about the health of your skin can help save your life.
Dr. Angela Bowers is a board-certified dermatologist who opened Southlake Dermatology in 1999. She completed undergraduate studies at Texas A&M
ARTICLE BY SALLY CROCKER PHOTOGRAPHY BY SOUTHLAKE DERMATOLOGYDR. BOWERS HAS BEEN A SOUTHLAKE RESIDENT FOR 25 YEARS. HER OFFICE IS IN THE SOUTHLAKE METHODIST HOSPITAL BUILDING.
University and graduated with honors at UT Southwestern Medical School, Dallas. Following an internal medicine internship at Baylor University Medical Center, she completed a dermatology residency at UT Southwestern. She’s been named to Texas Monthly’s Super Doctors list and among Fort Worth and 360 West magazines’ “Top Docs” rankings.
Southlake Dermatology provides medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatologic treatments to patients across Dallas/Fort Worth.
Following are some of Dr. Bowers’ tips for protecting your skin while enjoying the great outdoors:
Use a zinc oxide sunscreen containing physical blockers. Physical blockers, as opposed to chemical sunscreens, create a barrier on the skin that reflects UV rays away from the body.
Consider supplements. Heliocare® is a dietary capsule with clinically proven antioxidant properties to protect skin from the harmful effects of free radicals. This supplement, studied by Harvard researchers and determined to offer very
good protection, can be used in conjunction with sunscreen, Dr. Bowers says.
“It’s great for golfers, spring breakers and other outdoor enthusiasts. If you’re on the water and your sunscreen starts to fade, this product provides excellent backup. You can take it on days you’ll be in the sun or take it every day with a sunscreen if you’re at higher risk,” she notes. Heliocare® is available through Southlake Dermatology’s online store (store.southlakedermatology.com).
Wear sun protective clothing. “Graded fabrics offer different levels of SPF protection. For younger children, swim shirts and a hat can be easier than trying to keep sunscreen on,” Dr. Bowers says.
Try powder sunscreen and don’t forget your lips. Colorescience® mineral sunscreen brand offers non-chemical sun protection with an added defense against environmental stressors.
“Colorescience® developed a powder sunscreen that really put them on the map,” Dr. Bowers says. “You dust it on your face; it won’t get in your eyes or sting. Men
love it for the scalp, it isn’t greasy, and provides protection for balding spots. It also doesn’t degrade the way sunscreens do after time.”
The brand also makes sunscreen lip gloss in different colors.
The old days of thick, pasty zinc oxide are over. Remember the heavy white paste lifeguards used to wear at the pool? That’s all changed now, Dr. Bowers says. Products like those made by Elta MD Skincare provide transparent zinc oxide protection that’s less likely to cause skin irritations or allergies than chemical sunscreens. Elta also offers a broad spectrum UV lip balm and tinted UV-blocking moisturizers for skin types including dry or oily.
All shades need protection. While skin cancer is more common among those with fair complexions, like blondes and redheads, people of all skin tones can get skin cancer. UVA rays also hasten the aging process, producing lines and wrinkles.
Compare labels. Look for zinc oxide as the first ingredient listed in your sunscreen: 7-12% is dermatologist preferred. The overall sunscreen rating should be 30 or above.
Ears burn too. Dr. Bowers recommends wearing hats during outdoor activities. Broader brimmed hats provide better coverage than baseball caps. Especially for women, the doctor advises dusting sunscreen powder around the ears and inside the crevices when wearing your hair pulled back or up. It’s important to also protect around the eyebrows and at the top of the hairline.
Stay in touch with your doctor. If you notice any changes to your skin, make an appointment with your dermatologist – and if you’re outdoorsy, Dr. Bowers recommends starting regular in-office skin checks around age 30.
Providers at Southlake Dermatology.Texas Blonde Society moves to a beautiful, new space
Great things are happening for the Texas Blonde Society and the salon’s owner and visionary driving force, Lindsey Han.
Lindsey and her team of hair stylists – specializing in award-winning blonding services and blending amazing colors for gorgeous redheads, breathtaking brunettes and everything in between – have moved to an exciting new location in Keller.
Nestled near Keller Smithfield Rd. and Keller Parkway, Texas Blonde Society is a cozy retreat facing Southlake Blvd. Clients love the open, airy feel and funky vibe, bringing a touch of Texas flair
to the space. Moving from the salon’s previous location, clients now enjoy walking into the new standalone space with its warm wooden floors, clean white walls, and stylish stations and chairs. The salon has added fun details like cowboy hats, a cowhide rug and a playful neon sign inspired by a Shania Twain song, giving a nod to its Texan roots.
At the front of the salon, clients will find a welcoming reception desk and retail area featuring top haircare brands like Leaf & Flower, K18 and Redken. Unlike before, where appointments were managed through texts or voicemails, the new setup with a front desk and receptionists ensures
a smoother client experience, with appointments scheduled on the spot.
“I used to come home to 50-75 text messages at the end of the day, so having receptionists now is a fantastic change for us and for our clients,” Lindsey says.

The new, 3,000 sq. ft. niche salon features 13 hair stations and a team of 10 stylists and growing. The award-winning Texas Blonde Society is open from 8 am-8 pm Tuesday-Friday and from 8 am-4 pm on Saturdays.
One way that the Texas Blonde Society gives back is by donating haircuts for children in the foster care system.
“My family is a foster family; I have four adopted siblings, and I’m so proud to be their sister,” Lindsey says. “There are so many children out there who need a loving family.”
Lindsey’s father, who became involved in fostering with Lindsey’s stepmother after already raising a family of his own, is her biggest role model and an inspiration for how she gives back.
What shines through the most among the salon’s team is their heart.
Through her church, Grapevine's Fellowship of the Parks, Lindsey also provides hair styling and blowouts for young women served by Grace charity, a local organization providing assistance to individuals and families in crisis.
The church also donates beds to foster families, and Lindsey and her children – ages 15, 13 and 8 - have helped build the beds.
The salon donates to other charitable causes, like the Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake Moms League that is this year sponsoring the annual Moulin Rouge gala to support Christ’s Haven for Children.
Through recommendations from their clients, the salon’s stylists have also donated makeovers to women going through a tough time in their lives.
In her “spare” time, Lindsey is a Girl Scout leader and classroom volunteer. Family comes first, and she is skilled in making time to do all the rest.
As the salon continues to grow, Lindsey says, the Texas Blonde Society team looks forward to getting even more involved in the community.
Lindsey and the team invite you to stop by for a look around and a chance to get acquainted with all that the Texas Blonde Society can offer you!
“Come join us in our relaxed and inviting space, where every visit promises top-notch service and a touch of Texas hospitality. We can't wait to welcome you to our new home,” Lindsey says.
There are important factors to consider when it comes to your hearing, protection of your children’s hearing, or identifying hearing loss issues among older adults.
For adult children caring for or concerned about aging parents, it’s important to know that a direct link between hearing loss and dementia has been discovered.
A Johns Hopkins study that tracked 639 adults for nearly 12 years found that mild hearing loss doubled dementia risk. Moderate loss tripled risk, and people with a severe hearing impairment were five times more likely to develop dementia.
Studies have shown that people wearing hearing devices improve their perception, discernment, awareness, comprehension, learning and understanding. With the number of Americans ages 65 and older projected to reach 82 million by the year 2050, finding ways to care for hearing issues early on to protect one’s overall health and wellbeing is especially critical. If older adults are showing hearing loss or signs of confusion, a hearing check should become part of their regular healthcare routine.
Regardless of your age, however, it’s extremely beneficial to visit a specialist if you experience any unusual sounds or changes in hearing.
At Hope Hearing & Tinnitus Center, Dr. Beki Kellogg, Dr. Mary Allen Pollok and their team help patients from all over Texas and Oklahoma find hope and relief for hearing concerns.
The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association reports that regular hearing
screenings can help maintain your health. A tinnitus and hearing specialist like Dr. Kellogg can check your hearing and provide feedback on important next steps. A hearing screening is a quick and easy test that can be done at any age.
The JAMA Network of scientific journals published by the American Medical Association has reported that nearly 16% of adults 18 years or older experience difficulty hearing, with hearing loss increasing by age. Hearing loss can affect a person’s quality of life and ability to function independently.
“Being proactive and taking care of your hearing from early on ties in with mental health and maintaining the best cognition possible through different ages and stages of life,” Dr. Kellogg notes.
Music at concerts, playing headphones at high decibels, and even exposure to loud sounds in different professions can all impact hearing. People working in factory jobs, or in places where loud machinery is in operation, can benefit from foam earplugs found at just about any drug store. These earplugs work well at concerts too, Dr. Kellogg adds, while still allowing you to hear the music.
When headphones or ear buds reach over 80 decibels, it could be a danger to your hearing, and Dr. Kellogg recommends that parents monitor their children’s noise exposure when playing video games, watching TV or listening to music.
Noise exposure can occur in many environments – even teachers have reported uncomfortable hearing symptoms from noise exposure in their classrooms.
Tinnitus is another hearing concern, occurring when a person experiences roaring, hissing, humming, buzzing, chirping sensations like the sound of cicadas or other sounds not coming from the environment. Low quality sleep patterns can affect tinnitus, especially among new parents responding to their infants throughout the night, or among people experiencing stress, or not getting enough sleep due to work or health issues. Tinnitus can result from wax or fluid in the ear, a sinus infection or cold, even certain medications. COVID19, long-term COVID and the COVID vaccine have also been linked to hyperacusis in some patients.
Dr. Kellogg also sees patients suffering from hyperacusis, where sounds seem too loud or almost intolerable. Often this can be a side effect of untreated hearing loss, tinnitus and stress.
“For any hearing concerns, or a preventative checkup, the sooner patents come in, the better,” Dr. Kellogg says.

“If you have a dream, don’t give up!”
Natalie Renda-Lorant, maître d’ at Calabrese Italian Restaurant in Southlake, thinks big, and when she has a dream, she pursues it with a passion.
Before getting into the hospitality industry, she graduated from UT Austin with a degree in biology, then studied at Parker Chiropractic College and worked for a while in her father Oscar’s business. The business, Oscar Renda Contracting, which is today part of Southland Construction, provides heavy utility construction, building bridges, marine and water pipeline projects and managing other engineering ventures.
What Natalie ultimately wanted to do, though, was move into the hospitality business.
“It seemed fun and exciting,” she says. “My dad was born in Italy, and our family has always maintained our roots, taking trips to Europe since I was a child. I’ve always been drawn to the European style and the hospitality industry there.”
Natalie wanted to attend the luxury goods and services program at the International University of Monaco, but to apply, she needed practical experience. So she interned with family friends in Dallas, the Colombo family, who were major players in the local restaurant scene, owning several well-known dining establishments at the time, including Sfuzzi’s on McKinney Avenue, Trece, Villa O and The Club.
Left: Natalie and husband Michael Lorant, Founder/Chief Construction Officer of Lorant and Elliott Estate Homes.“The only person who really needs to believe in you is yourself.”
“I learned everything from the Colombos. I was part of the opening at Villa O, Trece and The Club, from construction to grand opening to daily operations of the business,” Natalie says.
This hands-on experience gave Natalie the credentials to enroll in Monaco’s program of study. When she returned to Texas, she was ready to pitch an exciting idea to her father. It was daunting, thinking of how she would suggest that they start a restaurant together. She was living in Westlake, and her dream was to build a place in Southlake that her family and others from the local community could enjoy.
“It was a hard sell getting my dad onboard,” she recalls. “His first answer was no, but I just kept going.”
The project would involve a substantial investment and was something Natalie’s family had never done before. But she had already envisioned how the restaurant would look and how the service and overall experience would make customers feel like family. She wanted to develop an upscale place where everyone would feel welcomed and invited, as well as a safe environment for women to feel comfortable if they just wanted to come and sit at the bar.
When Natalie finally convinced her father – a “huge foodie,” and a lover of Southern Italian cooking, as she describes him - they started out in a big way, purchasing the land and building the restaurant from scratch. She first proposed the idea to her dad in 2010, and Calabrese celebrated its grand opening in 2012.
At first it was just Natalie and Oscar. An operational partner was temporarily onboard, and
Chef Luciano Salvadore came in at the beginning and still heads the kitchen to this day. He had previously made a name for himself as chef at the Dallas Nicola’s restaurant and Arcodoro & Pomodoro in the Crescent Hotel.
Great management and staff then joined the team, including Shawn Horne, director of leisure and good times, and Brian Launius, general manager. Oscar comes in several times a week but is still involved full time in his other business.
Natalie’s inspiration for the look and feel of Calabrese was to create a light and airy, uber cool place to dine or have a drink, like restaurants found in Dallas’ Highland Park Village. The most enjoyable part of her job, she says, is getting to know customers, and seeing happy people enjoying themselves and connecting with other patrons as they make new friends. The Calabrese restaurant family is fortunate to have a lot of regular customers that they also call friends.
Most days of the week, you’ll find Natalie greeting customers and making guests feel welcome during lunch and the mid-afternoon hours. She says she loves it, and it’s exactly what she dreamed of.
Calabrese is very involved in supporting local charities, which is another aspect of the business that Natalie enjoys.
For women who might be considering a business idea, Natalie encourages them to “just go for it.”
“The only person who really needs to believe in you is yourself. If you have a dream – even if it takes years to get there – don’t give up, because there is always a way,” she advises.
The best day of Lucy Noonan’s life was when her son Demetri was born. It’s quite fitting during this May issue to recognize Mother’s Day and the profound bond that mothers share with their children.
Lucy Noonan is co-owner of Synergy Realty, a highly successful real estate boutique brokerage in Southlake. The George and Noonan Real Estate Group, led by Troy George and Lucy Noonan, is the leading luxury team at Synergy.
Lucy was one of seven children and always looked forward to having her own family. Her son Demetri is now 30 years old, and Lucy considers him to be her compass, her best friend and the true light of her life.
“Whoever would have thought that your child would become your best friend,” Lucy marvels.
The two enjoy many of the same things – restaurants, travel, sipping incredible wines, being with family as much as possible, and, of course, spending time together. They’ve been to Greece, Paris, Italy, and have traveled the U.S., spending time with family from California to the Florida Keys.
Lucy and Demetri text daily, even though both of their careers keep them busy and take them to various destinations. Near or far, they still make time to check in and maintain frequent communication.
Lucy and her own mother were close that way. As the first of her siblings to have a baby, Lucy’s parents were delighted when Demetri was born. They spent a lot of time with him growing up, passing on the multi-generational family values that gave Demetri a solid foundation as a child.
“We’re all such a close family. We’ve always played together, traveled together and enjoyed being with each other,” Lucy says.
“It’s so special to evolve from a parent/ child relationship to friendship as adults.”
— Lucy Noonan
Today, Demetri is a top professional paintball player and avid outdoorsman who enjoys fishing, hunting, skiing and other activities. He’s also a licensed realtor for the George and Noonan Real Estate Group.
“The best part of being a mom is watching your child grow. It’s been so fulfilling to see my son evolve into such a smart, creative man,” Lucy says. “He brings me so much joy.”
Five luxury homebuilders team up for community-wide fundraiser in Southlake’s Carillon Parc development to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®
ARTICLE BY SALLY CROCKER | PHOTOGRAPHY BY ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL®An incredible, inaugural concept is coming to the new Carillon Parc development in beautiful Southlake, Texas – to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® in its Lifesaving Mission: Finding cures. Saving children.
Located in the heart of Southlake at the northeast corner of N. White Chapel Blvd. and E. State Highway 114, Carillon Parc is a welcoming, walkable 42-acre mixed-use development featuring a luxury boutique hotel, innovative office spaces, upscale residences, advanced health and wellness offerings, chef-driven dining and luxury shopping, anchored by an expansive park with water features and a beautifully landscaped central plaza. This alluring new development is inspired by old-world architecture, from oversized sidewalks with cobblestone details to iconic bell towers, infused with innovative hospitality, commercial and residential offerings.
Now – for the first time ever – five luxury homebuilders are coming together in one exquisite Carillon Parc neighborhood to create five dream homes, showcased side-by-side to raise funds benefitting the lifesaving work of St. Jude.
Atwood Custom Homes, Beckett Graham Luxury Homes, Heritage Homes, Kensington Custom Homes and Willow Tree Custom Homes are the proud builders of this incredible showplace community.
Along with their trade partners, vendors, suppliers and other campaign sponsors, they have committed to collectively raise at least $1 million for the children of St. Jude. John Terrell with Carillon Parc is the developer of this unique project.
“This program is a pilot for St. Jude and the first of its kind in the nation,” says Jennifer Kimble-McCauley, area managing director, North and Central Texas, of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®.
“Five luxury builders and five spectacular homes, all next to each other in the same neighborhood, is such a unique idea, initiated by Brandon Tatta, Heritage Homes construction manager, who had participated in St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway events previously,” Jennifer says.
“Brandon had a conversation with Heritage Homes president John Webb, and John shared the idea with the other Carillon Parc builders. Together, they brought the concept to St. Jude.”
The St. Jude team saw this as an incredible, out-of-the-box idea.
“We had always only showcased a singular home. This was a great opportunity for an innovative new program, so we worked
in tandem with these five custom builders to plan the launch in Southlake,” Jennifer says.
Each builder brings a unique perspective to the table. They all take turns leading the charge, whatever the need may be.
“They work well together, and it’s so fantastic that they’re so highly invested in St. Jude and are supportive of each other,” Jennifer notes.
Each builder has formed a fundraising team with its own captain and colors. Builders can use their own network for donations to the project or for straight donations to St. Jude. Their contractors and the partners they regularly work with are enlisted to help provide products to build the homes. The St. Jude team also connects these builders with national partners Brizo, Shaw Industries, Trane, Bosch and Kichler, supporting St. Jude Dream Homes and Showplaces across the U.S.
A kickoff was held in September, with a groundbreaking planned in the coming months. When completed, these homes will be for sale.
“We hope, in Carillon Parc’s success,” Jennifer says, “that we’ll find other communities who will replicate this incredible idea.”
As a mom and grandmother, it’s been so rewarding over the years to watch my children and grandchildren grow up and succeed in their own lives. It fills me with a sense of pride and joy that’s indescribable. On Mother’s Day, I love to reflect on the memories we’ve made together and the moments that have brought us closer as a family.
But as much as I cherish the past, I also look forward to the future. I can’t wait to see what my children and grandchildren will accomplish in the years ahead, and I’m grateful for the chance to be a part of their lives every step of the way.
This Mother’s Day, I don’t need grand gestures or expensive gifts. All I want is to spend time with my loved ones, to laugh together, and to enjoy each other’s company. Because at the end of the day, it’s the memories we create together that truly matter.
“BUT AS MUCH AS I CHERISH THE PAST, I ALSO LOOK FORWARD TO THE FUTURE. I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHAT MY CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN WILL ACCOMPLISH IN THE YEARS AHEAD, AND I’M GRATEFUL FOR THE CHANCE TO BE A PART OF THEIR LIVES EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.”

Jurgita Janus, owner of the Beautel studio in Southlake, specializes in creating semi-permanent brows. Her services include microblading, shading and other brow techniques, which she learned by training at a prestigious beauty school in Europe. To perfect her skills, she has personally trained with world-renowned permanent makeup masters in the United Kingdom, Spain, Lithuania and the U.S. She has a mastery of various pigment application techniques to achieve a natural eyebrow look.
Jurgita’s art is like painting on a beautiful canvas. She applies the Phi golden ratio – the most aesthetically pleasing proportion measurement, widely used in art, architecture and even plastic surgery.
“I begin by finding the center of the forehead, then measuring where the eyebrows should start, where the tail should end, and where the highest arch point should be for each individual face,” Jurgita says. “The facial symmetry that ranges closest to this golden ratio is perceived as the most beautiful to the human eye.”
Jurgita does semi-permanent lip and eyeliner makeup as well, but prefers to specialize in eyebrows, as this treatment area provides her the most fulfillment.
“The biggest ‘before and after’ brow results are the most satisfying. There is such a difference. Clients are so thrilled, and that happiness is just priceless. They instantly look more beautiful and refreshed. Fuller brows can also erase time, with some clients immediately looking up to 10 years younger after treatment,” she says.
Jurgita is even able to recreate, or reconstruct, eyebrows where clients have none, such as with alopecia patients. She provides her services free for such clients, saying she wants to “give back to the community” whenever she can.
The techniques she applies are all semi-permanent, which require touchups over time. At the initial, free consultation, Jurgita discusses different techniques with new clients, goes over their expectations, and advises on the most beautiful brow shape tailored to their specific facial features.
For those seeking a very natural, hair stroke look, the eyebrow hairs are drawn one at a time. Shading is a perfect option for clients who prefer more of a soft makeup look. However, Jurgita often combines both techniques to achieve a realistic and more defined brow look.
“People get a beautiful, perfect shape no matter what they choose, according to their facial features. There is
no one brow shape that suits all - that’s why I use a very important mapping technique before we apply the pigment,” Jurgita says.
Jurgita always goes for the best, strives to learn from the best, and gives it her all to provide the best quality services to her clients.
She recently completed training for a new hair stroke technique that offers a more natural look and is gentler to the skin than microblading.
“To look more beautiful, refreshed and younger,” Jurgita says, “it sometimes only takes a millimeter or so of artistry to make a big difference in the face.”
Jurgita grew up in Lithuania, a country of only three million people. Her husband is a telecommunications expert, and the family moved to the U.S. for his job.
The couple have two daughters, ages 21 and 11. Their older daughter is studying neuroscience at Texas Christian University and hopes to enter the medical field in the future. She also is a singer and songwriter, currently professionally recording her first album. Her music will soon be released on YouTube, Spotify and other music platforms. Through her passions and interests, she has found some interesting connections between music and neuroscience, relaxation and emotional wellbeing.
Their youngest daughter, who is in the fifth grade, is an incredible painter, her mother proudly says.
“She is already painting as an adult, and has received several honors for her art,” Jurgita says. “She explores watercolors, charcoal, acrylics, and is now ready to start working on serious oil techniques. She paints everything, from landscapes, to animals, to intricate architectural designs.”
Jurgita loves to travel with her family – anywhere across both Europe and the U.S. Everywhere they go, her younger daughter has her sketchbook handy. Together, they all find inspiration and joy from exploring new places. The family has a miniature poodle named Tucci, who travels along with them.
They especially enjoy living in Texas.
“Spring and the Texas bluebonnets are so charming. It is amazing to be able to enjoy so much time outdoors,” Jurgita says. “The people here are very friendly and welcoming. I feel blessed every day.”
Jurgita Janus’ brow art is like painting on a beautiful canvas.
