Our Roles Matter
I may only be in my early (mid?) thirties, but it seems as though I’ve worn many hats in my life. Daughter, sister, student, teacher, friend, journalist, personal chef (to my family), coach, amateur gardener…but the hat I found as of late, and one that I’ve been luckiest to wear, is that of wife and mother .
My husband and I will be celebrating ten years of marriage this summer, with four young children underfoot, which has made me particularly reflective on life this past decade. There has been nothing harder or more sanctifying than becoming a mother, but it is a gift I not only welcome, but continue to thank God for every day. And while my identity may not be in motherhood, this season I am currently in is all-encompassing.
It is also fleeting. I know that one day, there won’t be tiny handprints on all my just-washed windows, my bathroom will stay clean for longer than five minutes, and some little person (who will remain nameless) won't be there asking me for their millionth snack of the day.
I don’t want to have regrets, and I doubt you do either. So here’s a friendly and encouraging reminder to stay present and faithful wherever you are, in whatever you’re doing – and to be mindful of what truly matters in this life – the people who have been placed around you.
If you’re reading this letter, I can almost guarantee you have some amazing, inspiring women in your life. My goal as you flip through these pages is that you’ll continue to be inspired - by the strong, beautiful women who make this community flourish.
Let’s take a moment this month to look around at those who have shaped us, those we are shaping, and the legacy we want to leave behind – remembering that our roles in our homes and in our communities are truly invaluable. KELLY

Making a Difference in Community
ARTICLE BY TERESA COY & ERIN ENNIS | PHOTOGRAPHY BY SHANNON BEAUCLAIR“We need more young people involved in the trades; it is a great career option.”
When you have the pleasure of meeting Erin Ennis, the first thought that crosses your mind is “warmth." Ennis has a way of making everyone around her feel welcomed and comfortable. As a woman who is a general contractor and runs a very successful business in the heart of Snohomish, Ennis and Energy Exteriors NW was a natural choice for us to feature in our ladies' issue.
In 2014, because of Ennis' extensive business background, she was approached by some friends to help them start a new business supplying windows and door replacements to homeowners. Within the year, Ennis was asked to join the business as a partner and not long after that found herself steering the ship as the sole owner, rebranding with the current name and adding siding replacement to the services of Energy Exteriors NW. Choosing to establish her enterprise in Snohomish County, Ennis reflects fondly on her deep connection to the region. "This is home to me, I grew up in Lynnwood," she shares, citing the allure of Snohomish County's diverse landscapes and vibrant communities.
As time went on, Ennis found that windows and doors became the vehicle that she and her staff would begin to use to help homeowners navigate the emotional terrain of remodeling. As a general contractor, she recognizes that homeowners often grapple with the idea of tearing apart their sanctuaries. However, Ennis firmly believes that education is the key to unlocking the full potential of any renovation project. "Your home is your safe haven," she emphasizes, stressing the importance of understanding the value that a remodeled home can bring.
This philosophy was solidified for Ennis many years ago when she had the pleasure of helping a couple renovate their dream houseboat on Lake Union. “The couple’s goal was to live full-time in the houseboat, but there was a great deal that needed to be done in order for that to happen. All the windows were single panes of glass that just slid in wooden tracks, we had to take apart, install double pane windows and refinish all the decorative aspects of the structure, while also making it energy efficient and suitable for fulltime living in the Pacific Northwest weather.” Reveling in the collaborative spirit of this early endeavor, Ennis now cherishes the opportunity to breathe new life into dated spaces, leaving a lasting imprint on each project that she and her team undertake.
Despite her initial lack of trained experience in the home improvement industry, Ennis' affinity for building and fixing things paved the way for her remarkable journey. Drawing from her background in corrections construction, she and her staff approach each project with a blend of expertise and enthusiasm, eager to mentor the next generation of builders. “We need to get more young people involved in the trades; it is a great career option.”
Central to Ennis' passion is the pursuit of advancements that benefit the community, homes, and the environment. Whether it's promoting sustainable building practices or enhancing air quality in homes, she remains steadfast in her commitment to driving positive change.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Ennis remains deeply engaged in charitable endeavors, supporting local organizations such as Clothes for Kids, Camp Fire of Snohomish County, and Habitat for Humanity of Snohomish County. Through sponsorships and hands-on participation, she exemplifies a commitment to giving back to the community that has embraced her. Most recently, Ennis and her team at Energy Exteriors NW collaborated with Habitat for Humanity (Snohomish County) as a sponsor for Women's Build on a project in Everett, further cementing their dedication to providing housing solutions for families in need.
As she reflects on her journey, Ennis expresses gratitude for the bonds forged and the lives touched along the
way. In the years to come, she envisions Energy Exteriors NW continuing to be a beacon of innovation and compassion, transforming homes and communities with every project. With a steadfast commitment to excellence and service, she remains resolute in her mission to make a meaningful difference, one home at a time.

FROMTHE GROUNDUP
“This has been fun for us, and I love that we are a woman-owned business.”
When speaking with mother and daughterin-law duo, Gemini and Sage Boas, their love for each other and doing life together shines through. The pair, who have known each other all of Sage’s life, have a fun backstory that explains their close connection.
“My mom and Gemini were best friends in the third grade,” shared Sage. “Gemini is probably one of the first people who met me, and the cute part of our story is that now I'm married to her son Powell.”
In December of 2022, Gemini and her husband, Richard, came alongside Sage and Powell to open Full Circle Cleaning & Restoration Services, with Sage and Gemini working side by side as co-owners. As the company name implies, owning a carpet cleaning and restoration company is a full-circle moment for the family.
Richard, who started in the industry in the late 1980s, first purchased a carpet cleaning business with Gemini ten years later. Since then, he has owned and provided consulting services for companies specializing in carpet cleaning as well as
water and fire damage restoration. Powell began working alongside his father in the industry as a young teen and continued in the field as an adult. By merging their field experience with Sage’s experience in graphic design, Gemini’s experience in office management, and both ladies’ experience in cultivating relationships, it is a recipe for family and business success.
“This has been fun for us, and I love that we are a woman-owned business,” said Gemini. “When we were talking about opening the company, I think Sage and I both thought we were just going to be the wives supporting the husbands.”
“But we decided it would be best for us to own it, more than just on paper,” added Sage. “The guys are out doing the hands-on stuff and we get to focus on building relationships with businesses and making sure the people we are working for and with are happy. We like to take it a step further than just a business relationship, we like to know who we're working with and build a relationship with them. We both love people so that works well for us.”
Full Circle offers services including cleaning, repairing, patching, stretching, and dying carpets. “Carpet repair is our specialty. It offers a solution to people who can't afford to, or don't want to, replace their carpet,” explained Sage. “Our carpet technicians are extremely skilled and detail-oriented. We take pride in the quality of our work and the fact that 99% of untrained eyes would not be able to pick out a patch or seam in the carpet after our work is complete. Because we value integrity above all, we are always available for questions and will be honest about whether your carpet can be repaired or if our recommendation is to replace it.”
They also provide routine housekeeping services for homes and offices as well as special deep cleans for occasions such as the changing of the seasons, prepping homes for the real estate market, and rental properties between occupants. “We work with real estate agents whenever they want a deep clean for a home going on the market,” said Sage. “They also refer us to buyers who want a home thoroughly cleaned before they move in.”
For water damage situations, Full Circle provides emergency response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in addition to the follow-up restoration process. “If there is a flood, we come out with our van and suck out all the water,” explained Gemini. “Then, we perform the dryout process using the most up-to-date equipment, including inner-wall drying systems, dehumidifiers, and industrial air movers.”
Gemini and Richard’s experience in the restoration side of the industry is a bonus because they have a firm understanding of the insurance side of restoration. “They have the knowledge and can go into a situation when people are overwhelmed from a flood and have a more helpful approach,” shared Sage. “So, we go into it knowing what insurance is going to want and can provide that extra level of experience in setting our customers up for success with the dry out and restoration process.”
Even during middle-of-the-night emergency situations, the Boas family loves and appreciates that they are in this together. “We're also a family that likes to have a good time,” said Sage. “It makes the rough times a little more fun. Plus, the family business part extends beyond our immediate family. We have a lot of our employees who are family or friends with each other. It makes hard situations easier when we know we’re in it all together.”

NOT JUST FOR SPORTS
ARTICLE BY MICHELLE W. PARNELL PHOTOGRAPHY BY KATHERINE HILL"We will continue to do what we can to help impact our great Snohomish community. That is what is most important."
“The Dome provides a place for people to come together to watch a game, play sports, or get together for other events such as parties or fundraisers,” she explained. “I have met so many great people over the past four years. Every time I go to work, I know I will see friends.”
Bialek brings a variety of opportunities to the community through the facility, prioritizing events for kids and adults of all ages and capabilities.
“I am excited about how much we have to offer,” she said. “Not only do we host soccer camps, tournaments, and adult and youth soccer leagues, but we also provide a rental facility for football, baseball, cheer, lacrosse, and softball teams. We have also had many events here in addition to sports, like health fairs, fundraisers, bands, politicians, and birthday parties. Although it’s called Snohomish Sports Dome, it’s not just about the
sports - it's a place where the community can come and celebrate any occasion.”
Although the Dome has been home to semi-pro teams since 2006, last year Bialek launched her own semi-pro, non-profit soccer club called Snohomish Sky FC. The Club has received amazing support from the community and local businesses.
“It got its name because of what Snohomish is known for - beautiful sunsets, views of the mountains, skydiving, hot air balloons and the airport,” Bialek shared. “Our teams are focused on making a positive impact on the field and in the community. This past February, our women’s team won the league championship for the third year in a row and in April they traveled to Ohio for nationals."
This past January, Snohomish Sky FC formed a men’s outdoor semi-pro team. "Following our Club’s indoor season, we thought it was only natural to jump
at the opportunity to go outdoors, so we started an outdoor men’s semi-pro team that competes in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) league,” Bialek added. "We have some big plans for the future - it’s going to be exciting for our city."
A new program, the Sky Club for Kids, began in April and is offered on Saturday mornings for kids 18 months old to 12 years old. The program provides soccer classes taught by semi-pro and collegiate players.
“I am extremely excited about the Sky Club because it’s an opportunity for children to begin touching the soccer ball at a young age while learning from some of the best instructors around.” Additionally, the Snohomish Sports Dome has partnered with U.S. Sports Nike Camps and will be offering indoor and outdoor camps this summer.
For Bialek, giving back to the community is a priority. “Being a police officer for almost 25 years gave me the opportunity to be involved in community outreach and I want to continue to do that through the Dome and Sky Club,” she said. “Last year we hosted several different charitable and fundraising events, and we will continue to do what we can to help impact our great Snohomish community. That is what is most important.”

Meet the Women behind Vibe Tribe Fitness and catch their Vision of Health
Strength of Relationship
ARTICLE BY TERESA COY PHOTOGRAPHY BY MAMA KAT PHOTOGRAPHYWhen you meet Bergen Buck and Morgan Barton, the owners and business partners behind Vibe Tribe Fitness, you realize very quickly that their business is successful because they have a strong vision of where they are headed and how they want to serve their community in the process. “Our business is built on relationships. Our clients are more than just friends, we care for them as if they are family.”
Both transplants to the Pacific Northwest, Bergen moved to the Everett area from Montana with a background in Exercise Science and Morgan from Nevada with a degree in Economics. Morgan, who is a
powerlifter, happened to be training at a gym where Bergen was meeting with private training clients. After getting to know each other and realizing that they had similar interests, Morgan pursued her Personal Training certification and they decided to team up. “It may seem that my background would not lend well to personal training, but our diverse experience has served us as we have built our business. Bergen is the creative thinker, and I am the spreadsheet girl, it has just worked,” says Morgan.
When you walk into the Vibe Tribe Studio, the first thing you notice is the intimate size and the realization that this is not your typical gym. Designed for one-on-one training the studio does not have any mirrors on the walls. “We have built this to be a family environment with the focus on strength and how good it feels to move your body without being self-conscious,” says Morgan, “When we were trying to find a space to allow Bergen to still meet with her clients during COVID, we were met with some resistance. Potential landlords felt that two women opening a yoga studio would be successful, but a ‘woman-owned strength gym’ was too niche for most of them. However, when we finally found this space, we have been able to make it our own and are now thankful that the other spaces fell through, we have a deeper appreciation for it now.”
“OUR BUSINESS IS BUILTON RELATIONSHIPS. WE CAR E FOR THEM ASIF THEY ARE FAMILY.”
When you think of a personal trainer, you may think you have to be an athlete to benefit from their services, but Bergen is quick to point out that their business is built to serve all of the community, no matter what you are experiencing. “Our hope is that you may come to us because of a pain or a specific issue and will find such benefit from working with us that you remain with us through all the seasons of your life.”
60 percent of their clients are women, and the average age is 17-65, clearly there is benefit no matter what your experience. “We do not have scales or measuring tapes at our studio, and we do not ask you to weigh in when you come to visit us. Our job is not to push you or talk to you about how we are going to change your body, rather here is what is happening in your body and how can we help you to reach body neutrality,” says Bergen.
Morgan put it best, “We always strive to become better at creating an environment that encourages our clients to see and appreciate where their body is at and strive to be healthy outside of our gym in their daily pursuits.”

HANDMADE
BREAKING BREAD
Making homemade bread is coming back, and while the convenience of buying a pre-made loaf is readily available, there is nothing like the taste of a warm, homemade loaf right out of the oven. This easy-to-follow recipe is exploding with flavor and is simple to make.
FOCACCIA
This recipe is quick and easy to make with just a few simple steps. It tastes great on its own, but dipping it in olive oil infused with fresh herbs adds an extra level of flavor.
INGREDIENTS:
• 1 ¾ cups warm water
• 2 ½ teaspoons sugar
• 1 package active dry yeast
• 4 cups flour
• 2 teaspoons salt
• 4 tablespoons olive oil
• Optional:
• Fresh rosemary
• Coarse sea salt
• Fresh pressed garlic
INSTRUCTIONS:
Use a stand mixer with a fitted dough hook, and stir together the water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and stir again. Set mixture aside for 5 minutes. Mixture should be foamy. Next, add the flour and salt and mix on low until a shaggy dough forms. Increase speed and mix for an additional 4-5 minutes. Brush a large bowl with olive oil. Transfer the dough to the bowl and cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a damp towel. Set aside for about 1 to 1 ½ hours until the dough has doubled in size.
Brush a 9x13-inch baking dish with 2 tablespoons of oil. Uncover the dough and rub hands with olive oil. Slide your hands under the dough and fold it onto itself. Continue to work your way around the edge of the bowl, folding the dough onto itself until there is a ball that you can lift from the bowl. Place the dough in the prepared pan and press the dough to the edges. Cover the pan with plastic wrap or a damp towel and set aside to rise for about 45 minutes until the dough has doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 425°F. Drizzle the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil over the dough. Rub your hands with olive oil and use your fingers to make indentions on the surface of the dough. Sprinkle it with salt and rosemary and any desired toppings. Bake for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown.
