Born and raised in Wisconsin, Naples was the little piece of paradise that I visited every year as a child. Upon graduating from UW-Madison, I wanted to stretch my wings and try something new. Naples felt like a home away from home after visiting for 21 years, so I packed my life into boxes and moved across the country.
I have a decade of experience as an entrepreneur and over the years, the one inherent challenge I’ve continually faced is being taken seriously. I’ve found that in this industry, young adults, especially females, have to fight much harder to be given respect and acknowledgment. For me, I turn this into motivation to prove them wrong. People may dismiss your ideas, discredit your experience, or question your ability. Don’t let those voices keep you from chasing your dreams.
I’m an advocate for the MS Society and raise money to fund vital research to find a cure. My mom has MS so this is a cause that’s close to my heart. In the business realm, I meet with legislators to discuss
the importance of providing support for underserved female entrepreneurs. These important conversations will enable more women to thrive and find success which energizes me. Lastly, I’m developing my third business and look forward to sharing it with you soon!
I’m so protective of my time and I set strict boundaries around it. This has helped with the balance tremendously because I’m never really off the clock. I put my work phone away around 5:30pm and use that time to be with friends, family, or my significant other.

My wife had an opportunity with her company so we made the leap across the Everglades in 2005. I’ll always have a love for the east coast but Naples is our home.

As a family, we enjoy traveling. I try to stay active with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, tennis and other activities. I also try to remind myself that we all live close to a beach.

Worry only about what really matters. Man, it goes by fast!

After years of experience as a fundraiser and grassroots manager, working 80 hours a week without taking care of myself, I came to the realization that a change was necessary. My wife Dr. Yasmin Papenfuss and I have resided in Naples for almost 20 years. We have two beautiful teenage daughters, Claudia and Julia who are heavily involved in soccer and dance.
I recently merged my medical contract manufacturing company, Lenkbar LLC with Intech Medical and remain one of the largest shareholders of the company. The company holds over 70 patents worldwide and has 100-plus employees in Naples. This merger has allowed me to focus on my newest project, the Marrow MarxMan. This is a flexible bone marrow aspiration system used to speed up the recovery time after surgery and cancer treatment using your own bone marrow and stem cells.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES YOU’VE FACED IN YOUR CAREER OR IN YOUR COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT?
The high cost of living in Naples has made it difficult to attract qualified and experienced employees. By investing in our employees’ future through on-thejob training we have successfully grown our business in spite of employment challenges in Naples.

One of the biggest challenges we’ve faced is convincing potential clients that social media marketing is not just the future—it’s the present and worth the investment. Many businesses hesitate to allocate resources to social media, seeing it as secondary. To overcome this, we focused on educating clients with detailed case studies and real-time analytics, demonstrating how a strategic social media presence can lead to increased brand awareness, customer engagement, and a solid return on investment. By staying ahead of industry trends and delivering measurable results, we’ve built trust and shown the immediate benefits of investing in social media marketing.
We are currently involved with the local JDRF Southwest Florida chapter, lending our time and services in preparation for their yearly gala this coming February 2025. Although we don’t have a direct tie to someone with type 1 diabetes, JDRF is an organization we have loved contributing to for the last several years. This involvement is important to us because it allows us to support a cause that impacts many lives, and we are passionate about giving back to our community in meaningful ways. Our work with JDRF enables us to use our expertise to make a positive impact, helping to raise awareness and funds for research and support for those affected by type 1 diabetes.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?
I am definitely a blend of freedom, compensation, and unique problem-solving and some high pressure occasionally. Setting myself high standards. My family, most importantly my two handsome sons, Leon and Levi.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF?
CREATE BOUNDARIES. This took years (and a lot of therapy) but learning to create healthy boundaries.
So, if I could whisper just one thing through time travel to that young woman with stars in her eyes, it would be this: “Cristina, darling, the playbook of life cannot be written in advance, nor can its lessons be imparted through whispers from the future. Like everyone - we have had challenges! The real estate market crash of 2008 was a big one. But overcoming that challenge actually made me a much more successful and passionate realtor! The pandemic of 2020 was challenging for all of us. I am proud of taking a stand and helping others navigate those fear-driven months. Always try to be a light in a dark world!
WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU IN LIFE?
My faith and love of God, my family and my love of our great country.

I have discovered, living in Naples for nearly 3 years, that the Florida Everglades have a tendency to feel further away than they really are. However, we aren’t as detached from the diversity and the lush environments of the Everglades as one may be led to believe. Southwest Florida has an abundance of natural treasures to explore, birds to watch, and gators to watch out for. Let’s take a deeper look at the habitats that lie behind the brush in paradise!
Tucked away in Fort Myers, the Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve spans 3,400 acres of wetland sanctuary. The pristinely-maintained 1.2-milelong boardwalk guides locals through cypress swamps, oak hammocks, and pine flatwoods. There is truly no location better for those in the area looking for a safe, and educational, trailing
In North Naples lies the renowned Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, managed by Audubon Florida. This sanctuary's 2.5-mile-long trail winds through ancient cypress forests, marshes, and wet prairies. This is another local hotspot for hikers searching for a safe experience around other locals, while still basking in the presence of alligators, otters, turtles, and more! Resident birdwatchers will be delighted by the diverse avian population, including the bright colors of the elusive Painted Bunting and Florida’s own majestic Wood Stork!
Alva's hidden gem, Caloosahatchee Regional Park, offers scenic trails along the Caloosahatchee River. Diverse ecosystems, from riverbanks to oak hammocks, provide a picturesque backdrop for local hikers and winter birds alike! Keep an eye out for river otters, manatees, and the plethora of bird species that call the region home!
Come embrace the wild beauty of the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge near I-75 in Naples. Dedicated to preserving the critical habitat of the endangered Florida Panther, this sanctuary provides locals with a unique opportunity to connect with conservation efforts. Just off the highway towards Miami, this short 1.3-mile loop trail offers scenic prairie views with, as the name would imply, rare chances to see the protected, endangered, Florida Panther. The best opportunity to see wildlife here is going to come at sunrise, when the highway noise isn’t a bother to the animals. Whether you’re looking to start off your morning with a stroll, enjoy an afternoon picnic, or even a romantic evening, you can’t go wrong with the sanctuary!
Venture into the heart of the Everglades with a visit to Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park. Recognized as the "Amazon of North America," and “Florida’s best-kept secret” by CBS News. This park offers a unique trailing experience through the largest strand swamp in the world. Local hikers can traverse boardwalks and trails surrounded by towering bald cypress trees, discovering rare orchids, 47 species to be exact, and potentially, the elusive Florida panther. This trail, or “tram” is regarded as one of the more difficult and dangerous trailing experiences in Southwest Florida. A lifted vehicle, such as a truck or SUV, with 4-wheel drive is highly recommended as entry to the tram head requires traversing 20-30 minutes of gravel paved, narrow road. A trailing partner and ample gear with protection are a must. While you will be treated to the calming chirps of a few of the most beautiful bird species in the world, this is an area not often disturbed by human interaction, thus the alligators come at their wildest. A snack and ample water for the tram is a must-have if you plan to reach the more scenic portions

of the park. A 2.5-mile trek towards the acclaimed “Fakahatchee Hilton” on the East Main Trail will reward you with dock views of prehistoric swamps filled to the brim with wild alligators. This one may only be for those who fancy themselves “danger seekers”, but if you can get out here, it’s a memory you’ll never soon forget.
These trails can offer locals and visitors alike a chance to break away from the usual, and experience what living in this rare, one-of-a-kind ecosystem really means. Residents of Naples are offered a unique opportunity, in not only being able to experience what makes this city paradise, from the amazing restaurants, to the ocean-front views, but also having one of the craziest, most active environments in the world in our own backyard! Whether it be some of the most colorful birds in the world, or these living dinosaurs we lovingly call “gators”, seeing the beauty of this habitat up close is a chance to not be missed. We love these animals dearly, and we aim to protect these environments as best we can, so with that being said, please treat these animals kindly, do not push the limits if you don’t feel comfortable, and most important of all, always try to leave the ecosystem in a better condition than when you found it. WHAT INITIATIVES OR PROJECTS ARE YOU CURRENTLY INVOLVED IN?
Aside from our passion for the CycleBar community, I’ve taken a position as The Director of Education at Rex Air Flight School out of Naples Airport. I am also hosting Trivia Nights at The Pub in Mercato every Monday night at 7:30pm. My wife, Holly, and I are always working with The Naples Humane Society raising funds, collecting supplies and helping to foster homeless animals. All of these projects enrich our lives and the Naples Community as a whole. We stand tall and feel proud to be part of the city of Naples.
I always answer this question with Coach John Wooden’s famous definition of success. “Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming.” “Success is never final; failure is never fatal. It’s courage that counts.” Success is not measured by numbers, stats, or possession - I measure my success by knowing I did my best to be my best in two categories; 1.) love wins 2.) Another month of fantastic events has come and gone! This May, we enjoyed a Kentucky Derby party at the Kitchen and the Mini Bar, located at 1200 Central Ave. We had an amazing turnout with guests colorfully donning their best hats and outfits.

From toys, games, basic essentials and books, our selection caters to every child's unique interests and preferences. But Dear Santa isn't just about the presents—it's about the satisfaction and internal gratification that comes with choosing the perfect gift for a child. It's a celebration of love, generosity, and the true spirit of the season. Christmas morning isn’t complete without a special holiday breakfast; therefore, Beverly’s Angels includes pancake mix and syrup! Wrapping paper and tape are also provided so all parents can enjoy the magic of the season. All of these items are beautifully placed in locally, handmade sacks.
With open hearts and a helping hand, we extend our gratitude and assistance to ensure our local champions receive the support they rightfully deserve. It's a program as big-hearted as the heroes it serves, requiring months of preparation and dedication to bring to life.
Yet, none of this would be possible without the support of our incredible community. “Members of the community had heard about Estella’s story and how That 1 Painter was paying it forward to help out. As the story began to spread, a heartwarming snowball effect happened. Local businesses and community members jumped in to help Estella during her time of need.”
Cancer Alliance Network (CAN) is a nonprofit that provides dignity and aids local cancer patients and their families by paying bills while they are undergoing cancer treatments such as chemotherapy or radiation. This includes bills such as rent, mortgage payments, car payments, utilities, food, and gas. CAN has been serving families in Collier and Lee County since 2002 and annually serves over 300 families, while offering additional support programs such as free nutrition programs and college scholarships for graduating seniors who are also cancer survivors.
When Michelle Ciuffetelli of CAN met Wayne Rodriguez at a networking event, Wayne was gathering a list of nonprofits as candidates for the Paint It Forward program at That 1 Painter. Once a quarter they partner with Sherman Williams to provide for a family or individual in need; this would entail a client receiving an entire interior or exterior painting of their home at no cost. Months after their first interaction, Wayne chose CAN as the nonprofit recipient for the program. Once Wayne relayed the news to Michelle that CAN had been chosen to receive this generous gift, she got right to work identifying a client of theirs who could benefit from this. Estella is a current cancer patient with CAN who is diagnosed with colon and kidney cancer. She is 54 years old and currently lives in Collier County. Wayne worked diligently
to complete her house and have it painted while she was in the hospital undergoing surgeries. Upon returning from the hospital she was surprised with a beautiful freshly painted home. Not only was the painting done, but what she came back to was truly unexpected.

Estella’s touching story highlights the amazing collaboration and care within the Naples community and those who helped kick this project off. Estella and Wayne still keep in touch today, and he has helped with other various work including her fence!

This is the reality for many Special Operations Forces (SOF) members, whose lives are often marred by physical injuries, mental trauma, and the strains of combat. Without the proper resources, these veterans and their families are left to continue their fight in the trenches without any weapons. Thankfully there are organizations such as Operation Healing Forces, that step in and refuse to leave anyone behind.
Operation Healing Forces understands the importance resources can play for Special Ops active duty members, veterans, their families and their caregivers. They know rehabilitation is crucial and reintegration is a journey, one that could potentially save lives and family systems. Operation Healing Forces (OHF) was
founded on the principle of honoring America's wounded, ill, injured, and fallen Special Operations Forces service members, veterans, and their families through programs that offer mental, physical and emotional healing on multiple levels. OHF is a testament to the power of human connection in healing and stands as a beacon of hope for those who feel lost.
The idea started in November of 2011 under the name Operation Cruise by Gary Markel, with the thought of providing week-long retreats on his yacht for Special Operations Forces and their family members. Over the years it has transformed into so much more. What started as week-long cruises has evolved into a comprehensive program offering support, rehabilitation, and reintegration services for SOF members and their families.
In March 2016, OHF expanded its programs beyond cruises to include donations of homes and resorts, ensuring that
the healing and bonding experiences could continue through couples retreats. Gary's brother, Tony Markel, joined him in this noble endeavor, along with their Board of Directors, all of whom pledged to cover the overhead and administrative costs of OHF. This commitment ensures that 100% of all donations go directly toward supporting Special Operators and their families.
The mission of Operation Healing Forces is clear and resolute: "Their lives are our mission." OHF is dedicated to serving the needs of the Special Operations Forces community through a suite of programs that promote long-term mental, physical, emotional, and fiscal well-being. Their vision, "Creating bonds that cure," reflects their belief in the transformative power of human connections in enhancing resilience, empowering rehabilitation, and fostering reintegration for SOF members and their families.

For Kerry Irvin, the CEO and an integral figure in OHF, this mission is deeply personal. Coming from a military family, with a father who served in Vietnam for over 40 years, a husband who was a special operations night aviator for 32 years, and two children who are now in the military, Kerry understands the unique challenges faced by SOF members and their families. She was an officer for national security and intelligence for many years and worked closely with special ops.
“I have a lot of respect and high regard for the work they do. They are quiet professionals; the general public doesn’t know a lot of what’s really happening. On any given day, in about 72-82 countries, we have special ops on the ground numbering between 6-8,000 individuals. They are doing their duty, on behalf of our nation.”--Kerry
OHF recognizes that oftentimes relationships and lives are severely damaged by the call of duty and its aftermath. It provides a network of support that allows for the opportunity to grow a community of like-minded individuals who simply understand what the word “sacrifice” actually means. These retreats refresh their souls and bring them hope during times of defeat and loss because the battle doesn’t end when they return home. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by the SOF community, OHF provides a suite of programs tailored to their specific needs. Decades of perpetual combat operations, increased suicides, and a high divorce rate within the SOF community underscore the importance of OHF's work.

One of the biggest challenges for SOF members is the expectation to be tough and resilient. However, this often leads to burying emotions and trauma, which can have devastating effects on mental health and relationships. OHF provides a safe space for SOF members to open up and share their struggles without fear of judgment or repercussions. By providing a community of peers who understand their experiences, SOF members can find solace, support, and a renewed sense of purpose.

The programs offered by OHF are designed to create a safe and supportive environment where SOF members and their families can openly discuss their personal battlefield and problem solve hardships. With a staff comprised of former operators, SOF spouses, and personnel with over a decade of experience serving the SOF community, OHF creates a trusting atmosphere where participants can share their struggles without fear of stigma. While physical injuries are often visible, the invisible wounds of war, such as PTSD and moral injury, can be just as debilitating. OHF offers a range of programs to address these issues, including mental health counseling, addiction treatment, and holistic wellness coaching.
Once an operator or SOF family becomes a part of the OHF alumni family, the bonds formed are lifelong. OHF's staff is available 24/7, mirroring the dedication of the SOF community they support. From week-long therapeutic retreats for Special
Operations couples to the Special Operations Additional Resource Program (SOAR), OHF offers a wide range of resources to support SOF service members and their families.
In addition to retreat programs, OHF provides direct crisis support, employment services, financial planning, and more. They host frequent fundraising events, from golf tournaments to songwriting sessions; providing outlets, community, and support for those that need it.
“Our immediate needs program has provided over a million dollars in financial grants for our veterans and their families during times of hardship and crisis. This is not funding that’s covered by the VA or DOD or health insurance, these are referrals that have come directly to us from Special Ops Command. They range from medical necessities, physical ailments, health issues, prosthetics, and adaptive equipment needs, to remodeling homes and food insecurity requests. We also set them up with wraparound services such as financial counseling, to prevent similar challenges in the future. Sometimes we refer them to mental health counselors and clinicians or virtual holistic coaching programs to enhance their overall well-being through mindfulness and meditation.”
Raymond “Tony” Thomas, a former four-star Commanding General of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) understands the crucial need for benevolent organizations to counterbalance the toll taken on America’s most elite fighting forces.

In the realm of mental health and well-being, MY Self Wellness is pioneering a new approach to healing. Through a combination of ketamine therapy, meditation, breathwork, and lifestyle changes, Charles was able to find a path to healing that worked for him.
Together Christina and Charles embarked on a mission to bring ketamine therapy to a wider audience. Together, they founded MY Self Wellness, with a focus on providing comprehensive mental health services that go beyond traditional approaches. The focus is on empowering individuals to take control of their mental health journey. Through a combination of ketamine therapy, integrative practices, and personalized care, clients are given the tools they need to achieve lasting change. The clinic offers a range of services, including psychiatry, group therapy, and integrative nutrition health coaching, all aimed at addressing the root causes of mental health issues.
"There is a profound connection between healing trauma and rewiring the nervous system," Charles explains. But the real work happens when you take what you've learned and integrate it into your daily life."
With their Medical Director and Chief Psychiatrist, Dr. Ferber, they have currently provided over 10,000 ketamine treatments. After the treatments, people come out night and day–veterans who are suicidal or people who are on a string of medications are provided with a clean slate. It quite literally gives them a new life, transformation to the fullest.
