In this issue, we gladly share some of the ways we can invest in our community, our finances, our health and those we love and care about most.
We invest in our community by supporting local businesses, schools, civic and nonprofit organizations.
Leaders all across Cobb and North Atlanta dedicate hundreds of thousands of hours annually to serve community through volunteerism, supporting future generations and creating economic stimulus.
Investing in our finances helps create wealth, meets long-term financial goals and secures our retirement. On a personal level, we can invest in our families and enrich relationships by giving time and effort to the people that mean the most to us. This type of investment has the most meaningful impact to not only ourselves, but the people closest to us.
Leaders in the industry and experts in family law, Gentry Law Firm Founder Bill Gentry speaks to the importance of communicating - especially around moneyand offers helpful tips for tackling financial struggles together and, hopefully, avoiding marital challenges on page 12.

YOUR LIVES MAY BE INTERTWINED, BUT SHOULD YOUR FINANCES?
As some of Marietta’s finest lawyers and family law attorneys, Gentry Law Firm has handled hundreds of money mishaps. They’re firm in their belief that financial transparency and planning are fundamental in a successful marriage—and they have the evidence to back it up.
As owner William C. (Bill) Gentry puts it, “Marriage isn’t just a huge personal commitment. It’s also one of the biggest financial commitments that most people make in their lives. When you marry someone, you agree to take on their debts, credit scores, and entire financial history. It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘for better or for worse.’”
Bill and the rest of the team at Gentry Law offer the following tips to set you and your partner on the path to success and equip you to weather any financial storm.
Don’t be afraid to discuss money – and do it often. Make sure you and your partner
have a clear understanding of your financial expectations and goals for the future. This prevents issues from going unresolved and makes conflict much more manageable.
“There’s no catch-all, secret sauce solution to how to split your finances or budget appropriately; there’s just what works best for YOU,” Bill explains.
When addressing topics like how you’ll handle expenses or combine bank accounts, Bill stresses the importance of recognizing each partner’s in-kind contributions as well. If one partner has more household responsibility or takes care of the kids, that should be considered in financial decisions.
“While many people don’t like the idea of a prenuptial agreement, they can be some of the simplest ways to protect yourself financially in a long-term romantic relationship,” says Bill. “Full disclosure, candid discussions, and trusted advisors are the best ingredients for success. Even if you’re not planning on getting married, agreeing on issues like joint ownership of a house is extremely prudent.”
Life happens. Whether you’re looking to plan for the future before stepping into marriage or you’re navigating the relationship hardships that can arise from a lack of financial planning, don’t hesitate to seek help. Some stresses may require a lawyer, and that’s where Gentry Law Firm steps in. They have successfully guided hundreds of clients and their families through legal matters. A recent customer offered a glowing testimonial of their experience: “[Our paralegal’s] tenacity in combination with Mr. Gentry was a perfect match to tackle the grueling process and justice system. [They] still check in on us to see how we are doing, and you just do not find that level of concern or care anywhere once the bill is paid. These folks truly are the best.”
When it comes to money and marriage, the right solution looks different for everyone. Consult with a lawyer and get to know your options at gentrylawfirmgeorgia.com
Aging is a privilege. To age is to collect memories, endure heartbreaks, pass on traditions and bear their resemblance along the way. It's a beautiful testament to a long, full life when done the right way. Sadly, too many families and seniors face the challenges of aging with improper care.
The harsh reality is that many seniors end up displaced from their homes, their possessions and sometimes their families far too soon for the sake of their health and well-being. Full-time care is too much for families with their own households to care for, but moving loved ones into assisted living or nursing homes is a stark change from the familiarity of home.
4 Seasons Home Care makes both possible. Families can go about their lives with peace of mind while their loved ones receive quality care from the comforts of home. It's called aging in place.
"In-home care allows individuals to maintain their independence and continue living in a setting that holds personal significance and memories," says co-owner Luke Simonetti. "This environment promotes not only physical comfort but also emotional and psychological well-being."
Founded by Lou Ann Thombley, a dedicated professional with over 36 years of experience as a registered nurse, 4 Seasons is now led by co-owners Luke Simonetti and Harrison Funk. After witnessing the negatives of non-personalized care firsthand, they made it a mission to provide tailored care and a team of dedicated professionals.
There's a strong correlation between aging in place and longer, happier lives. Seniors keep their homes, routines and even memories longer, creating a stronger sense of self and satisfaction with life.
"The ability to age in place is one of the greatest gifts you can give an aging loved one. When the time comes, choose an in-home care service like 4 Seasons Home Care."
There is no such thing as one-size-fits-all when it comes to quality care. Crowded care facilities make it impossible for caregivers to meet their patient's every need, but that's not the case with at-home care. With one-on-one care, your loved one receives uninterrupted attention and companionship, making it easy to catch problems early on and adjust care plans as needed.
At 4 Seasons, care plans are developed after a comprehensive assessment, which gives the team an in-depth look into the lifestyle and personal preferences of each client. They can include anything from medical care to day-to-day tasks to companionship.
No one of any age wants to be stripped of their independence. 4 Seasons is careful to never overstep by creating plans that encourage independence wherever possible. It's one more way that in-home care allows aging seniors to hold on to their lives as they know them. Completing some or all of their daily routine by themselves boosts confidence and empowers aging family members to keep going.
4 Seasons' caregivers more closely resemble a friend than a nurse or assistant. They recognize and empathize with the struggles of aging.
The pairing process is designed to account for personal compatibility and create a lasting connection between your loved one and their caregiver. It fosters companionship and makes it easier for seniors to confide in their caregivers and families to trust them with their loved ones.
The ability to age in place is one of the greatest gifts you can give an aging loved one. When the time comes, choose an in-home care service like 4 Seasons Home Care and gift them personalized care, independence and lasting connections.

The key component to a happy family is a functioning family budget. The key component to a family budget....well, there are many! How a family chooses to spend money can directly impact the level of stress they experience. Simple planning can help avoid budget pitfalls. The foundation on which you build your family's budget is entirely up to you, but the four key categories below should be a starting point for growing families and serve as a reminder for established families.
Start with the bare essentials. It’s important to ensure every family member’s living expenses are covered before spending on anything else. These costs include healthcare, life insurance, monthly mortgage or rent payments, utilities, groceries and other essential items like clothing. Your family size, income, health, living arrangements and eating habits impact these expenses. A good rule of thumb is to allocate 50-60% of your budget to necessities.
Maybe you super commute across state lines or carpool to ten different extracurricular activities weekly. Regardless, reliable transportation is a requirement for most families. It’s important to factor in gas costs for school carpools, work or weekend activities into this budget. And don’t forget air travel for important family milestones, car insurance and maintenance. On average, this consumes about 10-15% of a family’s budget.
While this category is most often ignored, it’s essential for your family’s long-term financial wealth. Consider an emergency fund, retirement account and a debt repayment plan when choosing how much to set aside each month. There’s no telling what the future holds, so it’s recommended to plan for the unexpected and save 10-20% of your income.
Always leave room for fun in your family budget. Extracurricular expenses, vacations, gifts, clothes, memberships and subscriptions, and home decor are some of the most common. They’re what makes life worth living, after all!

“BY FOSTERING PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN RESTAURANTS, SUPPLIERS AND LOCAL FARMERS, GEORGIA GROWN EXECUTIVE CHEFS ARE CHAMPIONS FOR CULINARY EDUCATION, SUSTAINABILITY, REGIONAL ECONOMIC GROWTH AND GEORGIA’S RICH AGRICULTURAL HERITAGE”
Atlanta's dining scene is one of highclass, elegant culinary presentation and a dash of Southern hospitality. Hundreds of Atlanta-based restaurants chart "Top Restaurant" lists nationwide. Some have even earned a coveted Michelin Star.
But Georgia Grown's Executive Chef program is different than those. It's a marker that signals both quality culinary skills and ingredients. The list celebrates chefs and the Georgia-based farmers and producers they source from. When Georgia Grown partnered with the Georgia Restaurant Association (GRA) to create the program, they set a precedent for both industries.
"By fostering partnerships between restaurants, suppliers and local farmers, Georgia Grown Executive Chefs are champions for culinary education, sustainability,
regional economic growth and Georgia’s rich agricultural heritage," says GRA President and CEO Stephanie Fischer.
At the 2024 Taste of Georgia Legislative Reception, Georgia Department of Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper and Georgia Restaurant Association President & CEO Stephanie Fischer announced six new Executive Chefs to be added to the list.
"These culinary leaders from across the state have earned the privilege of wearing the Georgia Grown chef’s coat for their commitment to supporting Georgia agriculture by sourcing high-quality Georgia Grown ingredients from local farmers and building bridges between farmers, suppliers, restaurants and chefs," says Tyler.
With 18,933 places to grab a bite or beverage, Georgia’s restaurants need a unified voice. That’s what the Georgia Restaurant Association aims to do. Recognizing these establishments for their hard work is a key part of its mission to make Georgia a better place for restaurants and Restaurateurs. The Executive Chef Program is just one of the ways they do it while supporting other essential industries like agriculture.
Since its inception, Georgia Grown has been dedicated to driving awareness and support for all of Georgia's agribusinesses by connecting them with local retailers, producers and consumers. The partnership between the following chefs and farmers is proof of Georgia Grown's success.
Just how good does a restaurant have to be for its chef to earn Executive Chef status? Find out for yourself. Visit one of these winning establishments and support the chefs and farmers behind them next time you're in Atlanta. You’ll be shocked at the difference fresh, local ingredients and exceptional culinary skills make.

“THE SUSTAINABLE FASHION INDUSTRY , UNLIKEMOST INDUSTRIES OPERATING IN THE WORLD TODAY, VIEWS A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENTASANESSENTIAL PART OF HUMAN SURVIVAL.”- JENNIFER RICHIE
Sustainable fashion isn't a trend; it's here to stay. Here's why.
When sustainable brands started making a resurgence around 2020, people balked at the prices and questioned the meaning of the word 'sustainable'. But four years later, the number of people shifting from fast fashion to sustainable brands continues to rise—and not without reason.
Sustainability advocate, stylist and knitter extraordinaire Jennifer Richie attributes the industry's success to its refreshing take on consumption. "The sustainable fashion industry, unlike most industries operating in the world today, views a healthy environment as an essential part of human survival," says Jennifer.
A little simple math shows that a higher price tag upfront can save significant money in the long run.
Thanks to social media and the phenomenon of "viral" styles, the demand for new clothing is at
an all-time high. To keep up, manufacturers cut costs by using cheap fabrics and machine labor and recycling "trendy" patterns or cuts instead of creating originals. The results are ultra-trendy clothes that fade fast, look cheap, fake and unoriginal, and lack durability.
To counteract this, brands are on a mission to make sustainable, ethical clothing more widely available. They make their clothes by using ecofriendly processes, paying employees a livable wage and creating safe workplaces.
"When employees feel valued by the company where they work, they produce better work," says Jennifer. "Clothes that are made well last longer."
The key to making sustainable fashion work for you and your wardrobe is opting for timeless—not trendy—pieces. For a slightly higher price, you can fill your closet with high-end pieces that won't go out of style and are built to last. This simple swap can extend a wardrobe's life from 10 wears to 10 years.
A little extra love and care for your garments can extend their life even longer. Invest some time and money into washing them as directed, whether by hand or dry cleaner, and don't be afraid to try simple fixes, like adding new buttons or removing stains, before sending them to the landfill.
According to allgoodliving.com, "It takes over 2,700 liters of water just to make one cotton shirt. Moreover, the industry is responsible for 10% of the global carbon emissions." Meanwhile, the ethical practices you support by choosing to shop sustainably help effectively reduce this harmful impact every day.
"The best way to shop sustainably and on a budget is to shop secondhand," advises Jennifer. "Not only does this keep clothes in circulation and out of the
landfill longer, it helps the local economy and provides a style boost."
Jennifer suggests trying shops like Queenie's Consignment or Finders Keepers in Decatur, Ecologie in Kennesaw, or MotherLode in Decatur and Athens for great, high-value finds that will enhance your wardrobe.
If you're looking for something brand new, she has a roster of tried and true sustainable brands as well. Yours Truly by Peter Jansen is a designer brand with unique pieces. Summersalt is her go-to for swimwear, while Mud Jeans and Everlane are great for high-quality denim.
Don't be fooled by fast fashion propaganda. Items created sustainably are vastly more chic than fast fashion. Whether you fill your wardrobe with finds from trustworthy brands, thrift shops or upcyclers, the options are infinitely more unique than anything you'll find on mall racks.
The reasons to go sustainable are endless. Upgrade your wardrobe, take care of your clothing, spend a little more upfront and save your wallet and the earth in the long run.

It seems intimidating, but adding or switching out your kitchen’s backsplash tiles is super simple—it just takes a trip to the store and some dedication!
What You’ll Need:
• Tiles of your choosing
• Construction adhesive
• Clear silicone caulk
• Drill
• Level
• Tin snips
• Tape measure
• Marker
• Safety goggles
• Leather work gloves
How-to:
1. Prep the area by removing hanging items and switch plates and cutting the power breaker box as a precaution. Clean the area you will apply the tiles with a paper towel and all-purpose cleaner.
2. Measure and cut the tiles. Start by measuring from end to end and from the countertops to the cabinets for the full surface area you’ll need to fill. Use these measurements to determine where and how many tiles you’ll need to cut.
3. For areas with an outlet or light switch, measure the distance from the last tile, including the overlap with the previous tile, to the outlet. Then, measure the distance from the countertop to the bottom and top of the outlet. Use these measurements to draw a rectangle on the back of the tile. Cut out the rectangle and discard.
4. Add construction adhesive to the back of the tiles. Press the tile firmly to the wall in place.
5. Add a bead of silicone caulk to the bottom where the tiles meet the countertop to avoid water collecting behind the tiles.
All done!

After a pivotal career change, East Cobb's very own Lara Hurst is starting fresh (and helping others do the same) with her new venture, Edit With Lara.
The decision to reinvent herself and pursue a passion wasn't made lightly. Before starting Edit With Lara, Lara was an accomplished marketing professional with longstanding careers at The Weather Channel and CNN. At CNN, she received two News & Documentary Promotional Emmy Awards. She always considered herself a "glorified project manager" in her work managing marketing campaign logistics and creative team members.
Safe to say, the switch from managing projects to managing clutter has been a seamless one for her. Beyond that, her work helping others is close to her heart. The inspiration came to her while clearing out her late parents' house, which took years to finish. She knew others must experience the same emotions when tackling such a heavy task.
That's when she got the idea to help others "edit" their belongings. If a client is willing, Lara suggests compromises, like keeping just one item from a collection, using photos or a memory book to keep the memories alive, or letting them live on in another home through refurbishment or donation to meaningful charitable organizations.
“It is important to me that items that can be donated go to the best charities and help as many people as possible. I will drive out of my way to do this; there is no extra charge, and it makes me feel good that we can make a difference,” says Lara.
While helping seniors and their families is near to her heart, Lara stays busy helping anyone who needs a hand digging out clutter.
“Editing and organizing toys is a big thing these days!”
The process starts with a home visit or sending photos of the spaces that need attention. Lara then sends a flexible proposal and estimate before you're on your way to a fresh, organized space. If the project
“It is important to me that items that can be donated go to the best charities and help as many people as possible.”
is emotional or lengthy, Lara is happy to make accommodations like offering shorter sessions or spreading a project out to allow breathing room, and her clients thank her for it.
"Lara is the consummate professional," says realtor Kerry Veale, who worked with Lara to prepare her home for sale. "She is very experienced working with an older audience and moving at their pace and has the perfect combination of getting the job done and objectives met while making the client feel heard and comfortable."
Another client added, “Lara has clear ideas and tools to start the organization process. She was very patient and never pressured me to get rid of anything I wasn’t comfortable with. It was a really great investment for me, and I loved working with Lara!”
Lara is ready to be a meticulous organizer, a voice of reason and a support system for those overwhelmed by clutter. She understands the need to part with unnecessary items while also wanting to hold on to the past. There's no pressure when you choose to Edit With Lara.
"I always follow the client’s lead," Lara assures. "If an item is clearly important to them, I would never pressure them to part with it."
"It's like that old saying," she says. "'There is only one way to eat an elephant: a bite at a time.'”

FASTEST-GROWING, MULTI-UNIT BODY20 FRANCHISEE GETTING THE MOST OUT OF LIFE
Leaving a life on the corner of New York City's Wall Street and Broad Street, mover and shaker Gene Chayevsky arrived in Atlanta in 2009; the extensive investment knowledge he'd earned as a private investor (and through mere proximity to the New York Stock Exchange) in tow.
Since then, he has become a key player in Atlanta's business, investment, fitness and now, philanthropy spheres. In 2022, Gene boldly decided to invest in what is now the fastest-growing fitness concept in the US—the BODY20 franchise.
As the largest multi-unit franchisee of BODY20 in Atlanta, he's already found great success—but he's nowhere near done. He recently sat down with us and divulged how he got to where he is today and what the future has in store.
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO ATLANTA FROM NYC?
I moved to Atlanta 15 years ago to take over as CEO at a portfolio company owned by the private equity firm I was with. After commuting to Atlanta from New York weekly, my wife and I moved our family to Atlanta in June 2009. I thought I could make the company successful and leverage that
success for bigger and better things. On a personal level, we felt that Atlanta would provide a more pleasant and sustainable environment to raise our kids, who were five and six at the time. Once we got here, my wife retired from dentistry, sold her New York practice, and we had our third child, William.
OUTSIDE OF BODY20, WHAT OTHER BUSINESSES HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED WITH?
I am an investor. My investment company is called KLW Capital (named after my kids Kirk, Liv and William). I have traditionally invested in private and public companies as a passive investor but decided to make an active investment and commitment to BODY20 in 2022 as a vehicle for building a substantial business from the ground up.
HOW MANY BODY20 FRANCHISES DO YOU CURRENTLY OWN, AND WHAT IS YOUR PLAN FOR EXPANSION?
I am now the largest multi-unit franchisee of BODY20 in Atlanta, with a commitment to develop seven locations in metro Atlanta. Starting in 2026, I hope to begin expanding outside Atlanta and am targeting at least 50 locations across the US in the next seven years in partnership with my former associates and friends in the private equity business.
WHAT DREW YOU TO THE BODY20 BRAND?
When searching for franchises, I assessed the quality of the business model. I wanted a recurring revenue, membership-based business with attractive margins. I also knew I wanted growth potential.
My search brought me to the wellness and fitness space, where I could fundamentally improve people’s lives and return to my family roots—doctors, dentists and healthcare business owners run in the family. I zeroed in on BODY20 for its unique approach to fitness. Its 20-minute, tech-enabled workout replaces hours of traditional strength training in the gym. BODY20’s efficacy, efficiency and affordability are changing the game in wellness and fitness across the US.
I sponsor football, baseball, soccer and lacrosse at Walton High School and local baseball leagues: East Side Baseball and 643 DP Athletics. I am an active member of the Cobb County Chamber, the Greater North Fulton Chamber and the East Cobb Business Association. I also have plans to join a Rotary chapter. In conjunction with other Atlanta area BODY20 franchisees, I sponsor the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
The biggest thing is providing great service. BODY20 has incredible coaches and staff, a clean studio and a welcoming atmosphere. I focus on building the culture and developing personal relationships with our members.
We are also very active in the local community. Sponsorships, networking and cross-referral relationships with local businesses have helped me grow the BODY20 brand in and around East Cobb and become the fastest-growing BODY20 studio in the country.
BODY20's belief in fitness equality is the most admirable aspect of the brand to Gene:
• You should not have to choose between fitness and family.
• Fitness should never compete with your career.
• Getting in shape should not hurt.
• Everybody should get the most out of life.
• Everybody is entitled to feeling great.
If this sounds like a fitness space for you, visit body20.com/east-cobb for more information.
Bright-eyed, fresh out of school and passionate as ever, siblings Sarah, Miriam and Joshua Chari set out to make a career of their love for music. They quickly discovered an entire community of both children and adults with that same fire for creating and performing—and Music By Tritone was born. Since 2002, they've been serving the communities of Roswell, East Cobb and Alpharetta through dynamic music lessons and educational programs.
When creating Music By Tritone, they envisioned a new approach to music education. Neither of the most common methods for teaching music sufficiently met student needs. Lessons were either too traditional and tedious, with no room for creative experimentation, or they were unstructured and pedagogically unsound, with no real roadmap to success.
"With Music By Tritone, we felt we could inspire, motivate and teach fundamentals systematically while allowing students to shape their own curriculum, repertoire and musical journey," says owner Joshua Chari.
With an impressive team of professional jazz, rock and classical musicians at the helm, Music By Tritone has progressed to offer a broad range of services. One of the most popular is weekly one-on-one lessons for piano, guitar, ukulele, voice, violin, viola, cello, bass, drums, saxophone, brass or woodwinds guided by expert instructors with professional backgrounds in their respective instruments. No two sessions are exactly alike. Classes cater to students and their individual goals by design, whether learning a song, prepping for a competition or building a music career.
Joshua is also avid in his belief that "Music is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children." Not only for its physical and neuro-muscular benefits, but also for the educational enrichment it fosters. So much so that colleges seek out applicants with a history of musical study. There's a strong correlation between those who practice music and successful academics.
"If the purpose of education is to prepare us for life and increase our appreciation of the universe, an education devoid of music robs us of one of our most fundamental human connections," says Joshua.
Still, music's psychological impact outweighs other advantages.
"I've watched students build confidence through creative expression, manage anxiety and stress through their art and develop amazing communication skills because of their musical study," says Joshua.
Music is truly a universal language. It drives deeper interaction and understanding among people. It transcends culture and language. It is the premise that Music By Tritone is built upon.
"The language of music is common to all generations and nations; it is understood by everybody, since it is understood with the heart."– Gioacchino Rossini
For more information on classes and programs, visit MusicByTritone.com.
Music By Tritone also offers summer camps and year-round group workshops for students interested in performing arts in any capacity. Budding rockstars, classical virtuosos and musical theatre performers can all find a program tailored to them. Anyone looking to hone their skills through regular performances should consider joining one of their ensemble groups for all ages, which include rock bands, a youth orchestra and a community orchestra. Those interested can attend the orchestra's upcoming performance on April 20 at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center for a listen.
Regardless of age or musical ability, no one is too young, old, under or over-experienced to invest in music education. Music By Tritone welcomes adults and children at any place in their musical journey.
"Our adults range in age from 18 to 80 and the benefits are potentially life-changing," assures Joshua.
According to him, music lessons can be psychologically stabilizing. They're a natural stress reliever and a way for adults to deepen their connections with themselves and others. Those with even a slight musical interest can reap the benefits tenfold when they take steps to pursue it.
Tasters of all ages are invited to embark on a culinary adventure at East Cobb's premier outdoor food festival, Taste of East Cobb, on Saturday, May 4.
East Cobb residents or anyone craving local flavors should plan to stop by Johnson Ferry Baptist Church anytime between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to indulge. The growing festival expects around 25 restaurants and bakeries for its 16th year, from the likes of Camps Kitchen and Bar, Green Coyote, Seed, Flying Biscuit, Sterling Estates, Belen de la Cruz-Empanadas & Pastries, Smallcakes, Cafe Rivkah, Righteous 'Que and the new Press Waffle Co.
Admission is free—just bring your appetite and "taste tickets," which will get you access to menu items, cotton candy, drinks and other activities. Tickets can be purchased with cash or card, online or on the day of the event.
While the mouth-watering bites are the best part, the fun doesn't stop there. Attendees can browse local vendors, enjoy live music by the Walton High School jazz band and many other East Cobb schools, and visit the Kids' Zone for inflatables and

hands-on activities. Other festivities include a silent auction and a "Best of Taste of East Cobb" voting competition.
"The Taste of East Cobb is so much more than a food festival; it’s a chance for East Cobbers to celebrate the community we value and love dearly," says coordinator J.J. McKelvey.
This fare-filled day provides an opportunity to gather with family, friends and neighbors, savor delicious cuisine and enjoy live entertainment while supporting East Cobb's restaurateurs and students. Organized by the Walton Band Parents Association, a 501(c)(3) that supports the Walton Band Program, all Taste of East Cobb proceeds benefit the award-winning Walton High School band program.
“We love our vibrant East Cobb community, and the Taste of East Cobb is the perfect way to celebrate and support our favorite local restaurants and businesses. What started as a simple fundraiser has now turned into one of the largest community events in East Cobb. Join us for MUSIC, FOOD, and FUN on May 4, 2024,” says J. J. McKelvey, 2024 Event Co-Chair.
