In the bustling world of sports medicine and orthopedic care, Michael Lay, L.Ac., C.SMA stands out from the crowd as a leader in holistic healing. As a certified sports medical acupuncturist (C.SMA) and Whitfield Reeves certified sports acupuncturist, his journey from Colorado native to Chicago scholar and back to Denver practitioner has been driven by a deep-seated passion for natural remedies and outdoor living.
Specializing in orthopedic and sports medicine, Lay's treatment philosophy centers on finding the root cause of pain through non-invasive means. With a comprehensive approach
to patient care, he dives into each individual's history, conducts thorough consultations, and performs a battery of tests to uncover the interconnectedness of the body's systems. Dr. Lay believes in getting to know his patients well and truly understanding how their body works, why their pain is occurring, and how best to treat that pain.
During acupuncture sessions, Lay employs precise needle placements specific to each injury, accompanied by electro-acupuncture for muscle stimulation and infrared light therapy for enhanced rejuvenation. In addition to these techniques, adjunctive therapies like dry needling, cupping, scraping, and massage further complement the healing process. Dr. Lay knows that, through his
decades of experience, this layered approach to treatment creates the best results for his patients. Lay's commitment extends beyond treatment sessions, as he educates patients on corrective exercises to increase strength post-acupuncture. With over two decades of experience, he has seen over and over the benefits of acupuncture, from stress relief to accelerated healing and improved circulation.
In a world where invasive procedures often dominate, Lay's holistic approach offers a different approach—an affordable, accessible, and non-invasive path to wellness that celebrates the profound interconnectedness and healing power of the human body.

When man began to dream and with his fist began to record history captured in art.
Men naturally are the providers and supporters of the home. At the same time as fragile in feelings as the rose paved the way to modern art.
Of course, we are only the complement and thanks to our natural engine like love, works great I have defined us as romantics.
Nowadays, fewer and fewer of us develop our way of livelihood through art.
Let’s give a big round of applause to all of them who, dream to inspire, find a way to provide. And thanks to love and lack of love for being our main source of inspiration.

Maintaining men's health and incorporating weight training as we age is crucial for overall well-being and vitality. Here's a breakdown of key considerations:
1. Importance of Strength Training: As men age, muscle mass tends to decrease and metabolism slows down. Strength training can help counteract these effects by building and preserving muscle mass, which in turn can improve metabolism, balance, and overall functional ability.
2. Progressive Overload: When engaging in weight training, it's essential to gradually increase the resistance or intensity over time. This principle, known as progressive overload, helps stimulate muscle growth and adaptation.
3. Focus on Compound Movements: Incorporate compound exercises into your routine, such as squats, deadlifts, bench presses, and rows. These movements target multiple muscle groups simultaneously, maximizing efficiency and effectiveness.
4. Hire a Personal Trainer: Pay close attention to proper form and technique to reduce the risk of injury. If you're new to weight training or unsure about certain exercises, consider working with a certified personal trainer who can provide guidance and instruction.
5. Nutrition and Hydration: Maintain a balanced diet rich in lean protein, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats to support muscle growth and recovery.
Additionally, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.
6. Flexibility and Mobility: Incorporate flexibility and mobility exercises into your routine to maintain joint health and range of motion. Activities such as yoga or dynamic stretching can help improve flexibility and reduce the risk of injury.
7. Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to your body's signals and adjust your training intensity or routine accordingly. It's essential to push yourself within reason but also to recognize when rest or modification is necessary to prevent overtraining or injury.
8. Consistency is Key: Establishing a consistent exercise routine is crucial for long-term success. Find activities that you enjoy and can realistically maintain over time to promote adherence and sustainability.
By incorporating these principles into your fitness regimen, you can promote men's health and well-being through weight training as you age. Remember, it's never too late to start, and small, consistent efforts can lead to significant improvements in strength, vitality, and overall quality of life.

"It's the little things that set me apart. I want to help in a non-pharmaceutical way. I can treat patients with just my hands and my brain."
Sometimes in your life God bestows upon you a gift. A gift that you never deserved, never dreamt of and never even knew it was for you. This is my friend BSO. I met Brian in the early 2000's and instantly I knew he made bad decisions: he made me his friend. Two souls in different stages of life, but on the same journey. Shortly after that was when I realized that he was my hero. With the selfless love he approaches life, in a time of utter despair, Brian gave me the hope I had long searched for. Born in the bowels of Detroit, yes the Detroit depicted in the movie 8 Mile. Just like Eminem, greatness would erupt.
Kicked out of the house at 16 because of an alcoholic father, Brian began to learn the meaning of being alone. After months of living in his car, he started the journey that would change his life. Test everything. Make goals. What are those goals? So it began: God, family, house...career!
This is a story of success through struggle built in commitment.
Brian wrestled his way into Eastern Michigan University. It was there that he found his comfort. Wrestling, Bodybuilding, Weightlifting and MMA became his solace. From the insecure boy on the block Brian became the biggest man on campus. Strength, Popularity, Success and Ego replaced the scared, insecure boy of the past.

In the heart of Denver's bustling ballpark neighborhood, local entrepreneur Dominic Roybal has made his mark on the city's vibrant nightlife scene. Born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and a Denver resident since the age of two, this business owner's journey is a testament to his persistence and grit amidst adversity.
With a portfolio of four thriving bars — Retro Room, Sidecar, Refinery, and 1930 Blake (Sports Column) — he’s built a diverse set of establishments that cater to a wide range of customers. Each one boasts its own unique specialties and draws, from the Retro Room's famous Pickle Shots to Sidecar's entertaining darts and the Refinery's notorious Buzz Button shot.
The journey began when, after 14 years as an EMT, Dominic found himself yearning for a change in profession. Drawn to the bar and entertainment lifestyle, he would later start his first watering hole, The Retro Room, in 2006. Over the years, his local empire expanded with the Refinery opening in 2014, followed by Sidecar in 2016 and the acquisition of 1930 Blake in September 2022.
The secret to Dominic’s success lies in his knack for crafting an atmosphere that appeals to any and all clientele, while maintaining a strong regular customer base with excellent service and competitive drink prices. He understands the importance of offering a familiar-yet-fun experience, and why it keeps patrons coming back time and time again.
Of course, his story isn’t void of challenges. The ever-changing landscape of downtown Denver, coupled with the diverse and evolving tastes of younger crowds, has required constant adaptation and innovation. The COVID-19 pandemic also dealt a particularly
heavy blow to the service industry, posing prolonged closures and capacity restrictions. Despite these setbacks, Roybal persevered, leveraging financial programs and maintaining a dedicated staff to weather the storm.
Through it all, his love for seeing locals enjoy his creations keeps him going. According to Dominic, the simple joy of hearing customers express their appreciation for his establishments is a powerful driving force behind his continued motivation and success.
Looking to the future, Dominic remains optimistic, yet cautious. While potential expansion or remodeling plans for The Retro Room are on the horizon, he recognizes the need for downtown to recover and for the crowds to return before making any significant moves.
Beyond his business ventures, Dominic finds solace in the simple pleasures of life. From hitting the slopes with his family in the winter to relaxing on the lake in the summer, he cherishes his moments away from the fast-paced, late-night bar scene. And when he needs a moment to himself, you'll likely find him tending to his yard; a mindless escape from the demands of his local empire.
In a city where the bar industry is notoriously competitive and challenging, Dominic’s story is one of resilience, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to delivering unforgettable experiences for his customers. With four successful bars under his belt and a keen eye for opportunity, there's no doubt that he’ll continue to shape Denver's nightlife scene for years to come — a true genius among adversity.
