What was your inspiration behind the styling for this party shoot? Inspiration came from the fun and chaos of children at Christmas and what they love at this time of the year. They get so excited when seeing Christmas trees, or presents under the tree and they love the stories of Santa and his reindeers and of course the candy and sweet treats. The colour palette was inspired by candy canes, reds, pinks, greens and white.
What were some of the unique features of this setup? There were so many different unique features from each of the vendors which styled together created a wonderful bright and fun “Oh Deer” Christmas Party. It was the details that brought the “Oh Deer” theme to life. On the table we had sleepy reindeer milk bottles and coordinating themed bonbons. Christmas ornaments created from balloons were placed on the table and around the party room. We also had a handmade sleepy reindeer piñata, a make your own reindeer cookie station, themed cookies and a gorgeous sleepy reindeer Christmas cake, Christmas reindeer plates and a Christmas candy colored balloon garland.
Share your top tips for those planning children’s parties and celebrations When planning children’s parties and celebrations from my experience it comes down to planning and organisation, even small parties need planning. When you start writing it all down from your budget, guests, decorations, menu it may seem a little overwhelming but create lists and keep them all together, and tick off items once finlaised or confirmed. Get creative when choosing a theme or a colour scheme, have your child involved as this helps build the excitement for the special day. Have fun in choosing a theme that is special and unique to you and your child. Book venues, entertainers, party props and décor early to avoid disappointment.

Have a game plan with how you are going to entertain the children, whether it is with a children’s entertainer, play equipment or activities and games. Always plan for the unexpected, for example for outdoor events have a plan for wind, rain and the sun.
