Welcome I certainly never expected 2021 to go the way it did – however I am thrilled that it is ending the way it is now with celebrations and parties being back on!

With all the lockdowns happening in NSW, VIC and ACT a few of our planned magazine shoots couldn’t go ahead but I am thrilled that our Perth and Brisbane members were able to style incredible shoots and involve members from other states as well.

The result is this fabulous issue to inspire you and help you plan your Christmas and summer parties!.

This magazine really is a source of inspiration but also a source of amazing kids event vendors from various locations that you can draw on when planning your child’s celebration.

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? This year for something a little different we wanted to highlight gingerbread and what a gorgeous theme it is to work with for Christmas. We also wanted move away from the traditional red and green and work with a pastel pink palette as Christmas can be any colour you like as it really is the most magical time of the year. Welcome to our Gin-gerbread Street

WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? There were just so many gorgeous elements that made GINGERBREAD STREET so very special by our absolutely amazing team.

We loved all our absolutely gorgeous and so “pretty in pink” Gingerbread Artwork signs, favour boxes and plate rounds along with all the partyware which helped set a fun table!

It was just so amazing to have a custom Gingerbread house and the gorgeous gingerbread men props along with our gorgeous balloon feature and backdrop!

Gingerbread Marshmallows with gorgeous little gingerbread on them and custom gingerbread soaps were so gorgeous. We had super gorgeous gingerbread houses for the table and a fabulous ginger-bread cake made of biscuits on the outside and cake on the inside.

We had scrumptious cookies and hot chocolate mixes which made a great take home gift.

Other custom pieces included a Gingerbread sign and mirrored gingerbread ornaments and party headbands.

SHARE YOUR TOP TIPS FOR THOSE PLANNING CHILDREN’S PARTIES AND CELEBRATIONS Always always start with a theme.

If you find a theme difficult, choose a gorgeous colour palette to work with, and I promise all your planning will be so much easier and it will give you a great starting point. Most importantly give yourself plenty of time so that you can book in your favourite suppliers but also so that you can enjoy your party planning process.

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? I chose to capture the dark & mature feel of Disney’s liveaction film series Descendants without the styling being overtly Disney. I wanted the colours & textures to suit the pre-teen audience, with subtle props playing homage to the Disney characters upon which the film series is based.

WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? The 3D arch, geometric cake plinth & the black cookie ‘wall’ tree were key pieces I commissioned for this theme & formed the base for acrylic signage & Maleficent silhouette mirror – the lead villain in the film series.

The black cookie ‘wall’ tree was used to hang apple cookies & fairy floss baubles with gold card vine acescents as a nod to the Descendants apple. Invitations & a keepsake acrylic handheld mirror, complete with apple, were a nod to the Evil Queens mirror.

Other unique features were a custom illustration of the Birthday girl, dressed as lead character Mal, individual chocolate bombs, complete with gold heart mirror & red roses and foil apple plates paired with gold tableware.

The cake was a feat of engineering, with Mal’s spell book & Descendants apple, featuring the Birthday girls initial, balancing on octopus tentacles to represent Uma, the daughter of Ursula, rising from the ocean.

Uma was also the inspiration behind the black ball pit and octopus floor vinyl.

Other entertainment included a glitter tattoo station, with stencils custom made to suit the theme, a black jumping castle, & a build-a-bear activity which, whilst not on-theme, was a specific request of the Birthday girl.

SHARE YOUR TOP TIPS FOR THOSE PLANNING CHILDREN’S PARTIES AND CELEBRATIONS You don’t need to include the obvious Disney graphics to execute a theme. By sticking with a well chosen colour palette & a key element, in this case the apple, you can achieve a cohesive theme which isn’t overtly Disney.

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? My son Noah is a little terror. He loves roaring at things and I didn’t want to do a dinosaur theme. I wanted to create something a bit more magical and decided dragons would be a very cool concept! It was a little hard to find inspo for this theme as it hasn’t been around much so I looked at prince themes, dinosaur themes and even fairy themes for some magical inspiration. Once our backdrop and cutouts were ordered we designed the rest of the party around these with the lovely blue and mint colour scheme.

WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? We worked with some amazing vendors once again to bring this together. Some of my favourite areas include the entrance which showcased a large castle prop with doorway cutout, our arches backdrop with flowers, balloons and even neon signage, and my kids especially enjoyed the ballpit setup from Fun HQ which included a slide to slide right into the fun! Born to Sparkle had a super cute play stand setup to dragon scale the kids in glitter and sparkles, while they also got to enjoy some bounce fun on White Castle’s castle bounce house. The 3 tier dragon cake by Silly Sugar was a huge hit and a real showpiece cake, I am still obsessing over.

SHARE YOUR TOP TIPS FOR THOSE PLANNING CHILDREN’S PARTIES AND CELEBRATIONS. For events with young kids I highly recommend sourcing entertainment or activities first and foremost. Slides, ballpits, soft play, bouncy castles, princess characters or some face painting fun are just some ideas to keep the little one’s occupied and having the party of a lifetime!

10 Years!

This year I celebrate 10 years of Life’s Little Celebrations! It is a journey I am truly proud of as I started, managed and grew this business over the years while having my 4 children and being able to build this wonderful business while still being there for my kids.

I look forward to celebrating this milestone properly in 2022 at our Conference but for now I wanted to share some of the journey and highlights with you! These photos highlight milestones but also captures moments of our members coming together – not just in Sydney –

but in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth because being able to bring kids party vendors together over these years have been a true highlight and is what Life’s Little Celebrations has been all about.

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? Audrey adores her adopted rescue dog Lola and the colour Pink. To celebrate her birthday she wanted to celebrate her birthday with a Pound Puppies adoption zone and of course lots of pink!

WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? Audrey’s favourite part of the whole party was the Puppy Adoption Centre. A new little puppy stuffed toy was waiting to be adopted by each guest. Custom Illustrations by Pink Pom Pom by Jen were unique for Audrey & Lola and the basis of the whole party. Lots of puppy love, paw prints, bones and of course pink!

Audrey also asked if her guests could bring along a dog toy which she then donated to our local shelter.

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? Make it POP! The theme was popits!

I was dying to finally be able to do this setup I just love the colours behind this brand-new trend! Pop Its are not only fun but also sensory toys that help relieve anxiety and stress or help children who struggle with maintaining focus as A mum who has children with autism and ADHD, I found just how helpful and fun these fidget toys are and fell on love with them as much as my kid! when I had my client Urooj, Aizhas mum tell me her daughter is also obsessed with this theme I thought was perfect to do this setup on her birthday!

WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? This setup has a backdrop hand made this was all cut-out painted and filled to make look alike as popits in all different colours as it is very hard to find anything in this new trend atm! I really wanted all the colours to POP I Wanted balloons in popit themed shapes, and we also had popit themed shirts for the birthday girl and her friends! Our ball pit was carefully setup in the theme colours side by side without mixing. The smash cake was just amazingly put together as one big POP IT! along with glow stools that lit up in different colours!

Absolutely everything was POPPING!

• Always have entertainment planned • Have a photographer in hand!

•A lways listen to your client understand what they want and try get a feel of their style sometimes you end up creating something entirely different to what they may originally ask for just by your suggestion upon getting to know them your relationship with who you work with is very important •C ommunication is key! Always communicate with your vendors • I always add a little extra to my setups depending on the theme or I bring along something for the guest just to give it that extra special touch.

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? Inspiration can come from anything, it allows the creativity to flow to make something unique possible.

The inspiration for this party came about based on the cake my client wanted featured. The minute I saw this cake it was evident that this needed to be the overall concept. We used this cake to build the concept for a bright, fun ice-cream party working off the pastel tones and fun vibe it brings.

WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? We had featured some amazing items in this setup, including some of our favorite vendors in the industry to help us create the theme of this ice cream party.

With the cake being the base of our inspiration, and main feature I was excited to work with Mel from @ meliciouscakehouse to recreate this cake for us.

Every detail worked so well from the cart, balloons, kids’ furniture and light up number and we aimed to have all tones work together with elements we used.

We also love the personalised touch and used gold mirror acrylics to personalize Isabella’s cart and cake and cake thanks to the amazing team at peek_a_boo_designs.

SHARE YOUR TOP TIPS FOR THOSE PLANNING CHILDREN’S PARTIES AND CELEBRATIONS If you are planning to hire a stylist for your child’s party start off with a theme and inspiration you have, this will allow your stylist to get creative and be unique.

Use their recommended vendors. This is so important as a stylist knows what vendors are the best fit for your event and theme. We work with so many vendors all year round and can offer the most appropriate suppliers for your party. Also, a stylist can handle all the logistics and its one less thing you need to worry about so you can enjoy the lead up and the day with your child knowing it’s been taken care of.

Whilst you are celebrating your child’s event, setting a budget is important. Even though it’s hard to discuss a budget sometimes, be open with the budget with your stylist. This allows the discussion of how much detail, items and props can be added to your setup.

Remember, that any budget is effective and the stylist will be able to advise what can be included and other options to work with your budget.
