House System The House System is grounded in the value we place on community spirit.

You will be welcomed into one of the four houses and know that you truly belong from the start of your time at Ursuline.

Students become part of a House, which is comprised of students from all four grade levels and a faculty member. Each student is a member off the same House all four years and takes part in House Meetings and traditions, such as House Spirit Games, Competition Day, and S.P.L.A.S.H Week.

House names reflect the characteristics of the Ursuline Academy sisterhood.

Servizio (Service) Cortesia (Courtesy) Lealta (Loyalty) Coraggio (Courage) Big Sis / Lil Sis Program Your House also serves as a pairing place for our Big Sis/Lil Sis program, connecting incoming students with current sophomores who help each Lil Sis to feel welcomed and get adjusted to high school. The program also includes several schoolsponsored activities that contribute to the building of community.

The mentoring and community building aspects of these programs form the foundation for new friendships and the creation of a sisterhood that lasts a lifetime.

The mission and heritage of Ursuline Academy took root centuries ago when Saint Angela Merici, a woman ahead of her time, founded the Order of St. Ursula, a company of young women committed to using their God-given gifts in service to the communities in which they live.

Faith Formation Faith formation in the Catholic tradition is at the core of the girls’ experience at Ursuline Academy.

In addition to required coursework in theology and world religions, your daily life at Ursuline will include school-wide celebrations of the Eucharist, prayer at the beginning and end of each day, class retreats and community service.

Serviam The motto of Ursuline schools around the world is Serviam, Latin for “I Will Serve”. At Ursuline, you will complete 120 hours of service over the course of your four years, though many do much more.

You will complete sixty of those service hours during your Junior Service Project at the end of your third year.

SCHOLARSHIPS Merit scholarships recognize students with strong academic credentials and are awarded based on performance on standardized tests in either 7th or 8th grade. These awards are automatically applied to any incoming student who meets all criteria and are renewable for all four years based on her academic performance.
