Superintendent’s Corner Throughout my career with Lewis, there have been numerous phrases, statements and words that I have held close because they define what makes Lewis a special place to work. From our values, “Safety, Value, Quality, Profitability, Trust & Respect, Fulfillment,” to our Purpose Statement, “Lewis empowers our people to improve communities, turning passion for our craft into buildings that matter,” to our DEI Statement, “...we are committed to recognizing and honoring all human differences. Through trust and respect, we create a safe, inclusive workplace where people can be their authentic selves and succeed as part of a high performing team,” to phrases like, “Every Decision, Every Detail, Every Day,” “Builder of Choice,” “Best talent in the industry,” and more. All of these reflect important parts of Lewis culture and have been seen, read, and developed by our employees to help define who we are and what we do here at Lewis. For myself, they have been a constant reminder of the talented people we have and the things that set us apart from our competition. The past year and a half has challenged all of us personally and professionally. I feel that there are areas that I can improve to better live up to the phrases, statements and words that define us. Being the best talent in the industry has not happened by chance; it takes continuous effort and improvement. My challenge to everyone from the first-period apprentice through our most senior leader is to revisit these phrases, statements and words, hold yourself accountable, and support others in their journey for self-improvement. Let us reignite that fire that makes us who we are. Dustin Zyph Superintendent, Seattle
