Superintendent’s Corner Positive People We have all been around that positive person who always seems to view life with a “glass-half-full” attitude. Numerous studies have found that positive thinking is not only good for our overall health, but it increases productivity for ourselves and everyone around us. After experiencing a year of challenges with quarantine, isolation and remote learning for our kids, positivity can be hard to find. I found myself dealing with more stress than I was used to and even some of the smallest challenges were harder to accomplish. It all came to a point when my 15-year-old son asked me, “Why are you so serious all the time?” After making some simple changes to how I go about my day, I am happy to say things have improved. Using simple words like “good morning,” said with a smile, reflecting on how amazing the Olympic Mountains look on the way into work, or listening intentionally to others have all made a big difference in my outlook. We have made it through a very challenging year individually and collectively. So, here is challenge to you—spend time each day checking in with your peers and find ways to make each day a good one.
